I'll be celebrating my birthday at WDW next year and have been thinking long and hard about what to do to celebrate. I thought about Cirque du Soleil but our kids will only be 8 & 6 so maybe a little young to fully appreciate it.

My latest idea is to have dinner at O'Hana's. I've seen some great reviews, it seems to be family friendly with a good choice of food. I thought I could organise a cake, more of a surprise for the kids really, rather than me!

Has anyone eaten at O'Hana's and was it good? Or do you have any suggestions for after dinner (we'll eat early), something which won't cost the earth though!

I only had breakfast at ohanas but it was delicious and my son really enjoyed himself the staff are really friendly and i'm sure that would be a great place for a celebration dinner

I really enjoyed our meal at Ohannas. The food was nice and the service great. We were given a table looking out onto the lagoon and watched the fireworks from our table. We do not have children, but the children that were there seemed to be having fun doing coconut races, singing songs, doing limbo competitions etc.
I'm not sure what to suggest to do after your meal, perhaps something in the MK?

Hi. My nieces, who are 2 1/2 & 5 loved Cirque.

'Ohana used to be one of our favorites, but we feel it has gone down hill a lot. We won't be attempting it again till we have heard things have changed.

If it's the food your after, or the Polynesian resort I would recommend Kona Cafe. If it's entertaining the kids how about Teppan Edo- the restaurant replacing Teppanyaki? We loved Teppanyaki and will be trying Teppan Edo this fall.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Whilst i appreciate everybody is different we did Cirque 2 years ago when our boys were 9 and 7. I absolutely loved it but they didnt quite get it. The younger one kept asking me when it was going to be finished. I think they just did not appreciate how difficult the stunts were.
On the other hand my friend's 10 year old loved it. They also did the Poly meal and absolutely loved it saying we will all have to do it next time we go.

Thanks for your responses. I reckon we'll go with O'hana's. I know it's got mixed reviews so we'll just have to take our chances. My youngest is a very picky eater so no point going anywhere really fancy or formal. Somewhere there is a good family atmosphere will be perfect.

We love Ohana :) We ate there last November and loved it. Why not have an early ADR - they celebrate birthday's, lots of singing and coconut races for the kids. You can order a cake to have at your table.

Afterwards you can go down on to the beach and watch the Electrical Water Parade and the Fireworks :)
