Went to O'hana tonight while on my honeymoon and I am grateful for the great reviews. The place is great. We really enjoyed the food and the dessert was amazing. The biggest thing though was the romantic atmosphere. There are kids running around and it was a little loud but the singer and the dark room made a nice ambiance. Liberty tree tavern was also a very underrated place. I just wanted to throw that out there. I'll give full reviews of my whole trip next week.

I am SO glad :). We are booked here next month and I was seriously debating on cancelling due to the mixed reviews recently. I had already decided to leave it but this makes me happy too :).

'Ohana is my families favorite restaurant. I am glad you enjoyed it! I love:lovestruc the dessert. It is my favorite dessert anywhere, not just Disney!

Thanks for the positive review...Can't wait to try 'Ohana on Friday night!

I'm so glad you loved it. That's my DH's fave restaurant. I tried and tried to get a 2nd ressie after we enjoyed it so much the first time....but no luck.

That's the one place he talks about the most (le cellier is 2nd) when talking about Disney food. He loved everything about it.

I was slightly underwhelmed but still enjoyed myself thoroughly...it's awesome to see how much dh loves it. I took him to Texas de Brazil after we got home and the food was much better quality there....but DH still loves Ohana the most. I think it was a mixture of everything, being at Disney, the fun atmosphere, and whatever magic was in the air. He was not particularly overexcited after Texas de Brazil (although I raved over it for a day or two).

The salad is absolutely YUMMY...I ate several helpings of it :) It was almost impossible to get a medium rare steak though...but oh well, I was stuffed anyway.

Romantic atmosphere????? You must be kidding:confused3. That GAWD awful entertainer (using the term loosely) has a voice that's as annoying as fingernails on a chalkboard. Not my idea of romantic by a long shot.

Glad to hear a positive review. We have had only one bad meal there, the rest have been quiet good.

I can see how it could be romantic. :)

I have no idea about the singer, though, is that new? We last went in 2007, and it was our third time, and I don't remember any singing.

We're not fans of bread pudding, and were a little bummed about the dessert change, but they brought us pineapple anyway. :) I can't wait until we go back. Of course, I just can't wait to go to DW. ;)

I had a great dinner at 'Ohana on 9/3 :) the steak was perfectly medium/medium rare and tender, shrimp wasn't overcooked, and my fiance and I (we were on our "engageymoon") thought it had somewhat of a romantic atmosphere. Poly beach afterwards was even more romantic!

I agreed with ya on the romantic atmosphere or rather lack of. It could be very romantic at times but only if they gagged that lady singer. She is so annoying that I cringe when I hear her start to sing. I like to request a table in the small side room (behind the grill) because it's harder to hear her there.:rotfl:

However we love the food, we eat there on every trip. The service can be hit or miss.

i couldn't have said it better. i think she stops at 9, lol... try for a late reservations

we were at Ohana 2 weeks ago and it was unbelievably good!!

we will be booking Ohana twice on our next trip (once at the beginning and once at the end of the trip)

this is my favorite restaurant anywhere!

We ate there 10/10 and it was really good. The steak and chicken were really good and moist. We have never had a bad meal there. This was our 3rd meal there in the last 5 years.

this! :thumbsup2

And our food was mediocre to terrible...cold veggies, rock-hard bread, dry dry dry meat. In fact, the only "fresh" meat we were served was the fly doing the breaststroke in my ice water.

Everything we had was hot and fresh. We had no singer, but they did have the kids games that we hardly noticed. We were seated next to the windows. Food was hot, fresh and very, very good. Bread was soft and warm also.

I'm glad to be reading some positive reviews of 'Ohana. My mom, DH, and four year-old DS ate there last February and had a great meal. Lovely atmosphere; great service and good food. If I'm being super honest, I don't think most of the one credit TS places in Disney are that great and I certainly don't think 'Ohana was anywhere near the worst. We skipped it in July because we didn't have the dining plan and without that, its not very cost effective. That said, we're headed back in February '12, on the DDP. We loved the bread, salad, chicken wings, potstickers, and noodles. My son loves dumplings and noodles and I'm a fan of any place where he doesn't have to order off of that stock Disney kid's menu.

Oh...and that Lapu Lapu....

We were there in September, and it was horrible. Service was really slow borderline BAD. Waitress forgot iced tea, didn't get service until 15-20 minutes after we sat down. The salad had no dressing on it, bread came with no butter, no more hot white towels they used to give you. Chicken wings were fatty. The menu has changed too. Not worth the money in my opinion. Boma is so much better in everyway in my opinion.

Very nice that you had a fantastic time! I'm sure being blissfully happy kind of paints a "happiness lens" on everything there.

We ate there earlier this year and it was just great. Food was fresh and hot, service was great. A lot of fun.

I read about how it can be hit or miss, some terrible experiences, etc and I'm just grateful that wasn't our experience. Like, at all. I have fond memories of the place too. We had so much fun there and can't wait to eat there again. Decided to skip it this past trip to try some other things and revisit a few we missed. We will definitely go back though, it's on the fave list.

BTW--congrats!

We had hot white towels last Monday. So, it's no a "used to", they still do. We had the exact opposite experience you did and that's the same experience we've had all 3 times we've been there.
