'Ohana vs. Spirit of Aloha?

We are 3 adults and have an ADR at 'Ohana during our stay at the Polynesian. Being that we are staying at the Polynesian, I feel as though we should do the luau...yet all the bad reviews are turning me off from it. What do you suggest? Would you pick one over the other and would doing both be overkill?

Thanks!

I haven't done the luau but from what I have read they are very different.

We always do Ohana sometime in our trip, I love the steak and bread pudding.
Never have had the urge to do the luau. But I would imagine since you are staying there it might be fun.

I always say, if the menu excites you go for it, you will never know until you try it. People's reviews are their opinion and might not be mine or yours.

Have fun on your vacation!

We usually do both. We really enjoy Spirit of Aloha, and never remember a time when we didn't like the food. Having said that, I also never remember a time when we said we REALLY LOVED the food. We are at Disney and enjoy the experience. If we could ONLY do one, I suppose it would be 'Ohana though.

We've been to 'Ohana on both of our visits. When we return in May, we plan to do 'Ohana as well as the Luau this time. We had planned on the Luau last trip but when I was able to get tickets for the P & P party it conflicted with our ressies on that night and I had to cancel the Luau and never was able to find another time available for when we were there.

My family loves the luau. I don't care for it, I find it dull save the fire dancer. However, it is a nice event to immerse you into the Polynesian experience if you are staying there. If I had to make the choice, I would choose the luau. I have never really understood the fascination with Ohana, sure it's fun and the food is not awful, but it's not a must do for me.

IMHO the luau is better than Ohana.

I think most of the bad reviews come from it not being worth the $$$ or the 2 dining credits, if you don't care about the price then you will not have a problem at all. Just forget about how much you paid for it and you will enjoy yourself much more.

Also, don't compare it to Hoop Dee Doo it doesn't hold a candle. Just think of it for what it is, a Polynesian Luau.

"Ohana is fun...good atmosphere and pretty good food for WDW. That said. What is up with that Luau? I have never laughed at anything so hard :rotfl2: and not in a good way. I mean come on! If it were not such a suck you in money maker...and people would wise up...they would cancel it! It is just plain stupid. I LOVE WDW! I do not mean any disrespect but, this is just pure and simple math. If the people keep going...they are going to keep doing the stupid show. I LOVE the Hoopdee Doo and it is 10000 TIMES BETTER!~

I do both every trip.

I prefer the food at the Luau over the food at Ohana. The show has become a little tacky over the years, but its entertainment and dinner and Im not on my feet!!!

For Ohana, I go for my kids who enjoy the coconut races and limbo. I like the atmosphere and the pineapple drinks! The meat is just ok. Konas food is a lot better.

I think if youre staying at the Poly and want a convenient meal, any/all is a good choice. A lot of people go for the atmosphere, and you will get plenty of that just staying on property without having to go to the restaurants (though I do suggest Kona)
