Ohana Shrimp

How spicy is the spicy shrimp at Ohana? Is it possible to get grilled shrimp without the spices? My kids both *love* shrimp, but they're only 4 and 7, so they aren't too keen on spicy food. Thanks!

I don't find them spicy at all, just smokey.

I love spicy and would never even think that the shrimp at 'Ohana are considered "spicy shrimp".

Its my favorite part of the meal, heaven. It is slightly seasoned and grilled, and peel-n-eat. They go with the rest of the meal but totally different than a traditional Old Bay kind of steamed shrimp. Seasoned to be flavorful but not in the category of "spicy" at all.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. We're from Maryland, so when my kids see *anything* on shrimp, they assume it's Old Bay.

Yummm, I'm originally from MD too! Its nothing like that at all, no trace of Old Bay. More basic, salt-n-pepper type but still amazingly flavorful. Seriously my favorite thing at 'Ohana!

I've never found them to be spicy, maybe just a touch for some people. The shrimp there were one of my favorite things in the world to eat, I ate 65 one night! but that's going back years and years. Now they are horrible, last time I went about a year ago I couldn't even eat them. They tasted just like smoke. Not a smoked meat taste, but just smoke. We won't be going back.

This may be a dumb question, but are the shrimp already deveined? I've never had peel and eat shrimp before, so I have no idea what to expect.

When we went in June, my son said the same, about just tasting the smoke. He didn't dislike them---he just didn't think they tasted like shrimp.

They are split down the back and deveined. It helps with peeling too!

They are deveined, but they are huge and still have all the legs on. TBH, they kind of gross me out and I love shrimp.
