Ok, I didnt book an ADR. I should have. Now my husband keeps mentioning having dinner there. So, is it impossible to get seated without an ADR? And if it is possible...how long of a wait would you say? We will be there the
10th- 17th of May
Any info is appreciated!

December 2009 I tried to get reservations even up until the day we left and couldn't score ressies. The day we wanted reservations I walked up and they said they could accommodate us for a table of 2. Before I could even cancel our reservation at Kona Cafe, we were being seated. I had to make them wait till I cancelled my table. I know that might not be the norm, but it is possible. I think because we only had 2 people was a big help and not a large group. I would certainly try when you get down there. By the way, we loved it. It is now on our "must do" list. Good luck!

Ohana books up very fast, but people cancel all the time :). I would keep checking online everyday before you get there, and then I'd keep trying while you're there ;). If you aren't able to secure an ADR, it can't hurt to walk up.....you never know what might happen :goodvibes.

Both times we've been, they were not taking walkups and even those with ADR's were waiting 30-45 minutes past their time to be seated. It was absolutely packed both times. We have an ADR again this Oct. I just made mine last week and got an ADR within 10 minutes of the time I wanted.

IIRC, we arrived at the check in desk around 4 PM and they open for checking in around 4:30. We asked if they were taking walk ups and the CM said they would be having a meeting soon to see if they would take any. She said to be back at 4:30. By that time a line had formed behind us so we decided to camp out until the CMs returned to start checking people in. Meanwhile, I kept checking on my phone to see if any reservations popped up. About 5 minutes later I managed to snag a 5:20 reservation on my phone, so I dropped out of line and my wife stayed to check in with our new reservation. Since the reservation was brand new, they actually needed the confirmation number to retrieve it. My wife got us checked in and we sat in the bar waiting for our buzzer to go off.

Now, to answer your question, the people who got in line right behind us we also looking to do a walk up. My wife noticed that at least one party was seated ahead of us and we were probably seated around 5:15. This was on a Saturday in early February.

We also went on the Monday before, arriving with reservations, and noticed that they were taking walk ups that day too. One of the walk up parties was still waiting to be seated as we were leaving, which was probably around 6:20 or so.

So, yes, it is possible to do a walk up, but it is also probably best to arrive before they start checking in to ensure you get your name in first. It also never hurts to keep checking the online reservation site to see if something opens up. During some of my random checks during the week we were there, I even saw a 6:00 Le Cellier show up.

I believe 'Ohana is our new favorite place to eat in the World, I can't believe we waited so long to try it. Now, if only Le Cellier would start selling their Pretzel Sticks at a stand outside...

I bet you could get seated. We've gone there, no reservations and been seated. It's kind of nutty/busy there so be patient. If you have a large party, it'll be harder.

There's a lot of stress and anxiety over getting in there, but you can. It's a fun place!

I was just in Orlando in March for a conference and met a friend there (Ohana). We walked up without ADR and they told us an hour and a half wait. I think it ended up being an hour. We sat in the lounge and had drinks, so that was ok with us!

Keep checking the online reservations - things can open up. For our trip in June, I had tried unsuccessfully to get Chef Mickey's and then yesterday, bam, there was an opening.

Well, I'm booking ahead for our visit in June and was able to get a reservation but.............the ONLY time available was 9:45 but I took it and will keep tryin for an earlier time up until then so seeing how I'm having this hard of a time trying to book for June, I sure wouldn't want to chance just showing up hoping that I would get lucky enough to get one. Ohana's is BIG on our list for this visit so I'm keeping the 9:45 one unless I would get lucky enough for someone to cancel & I can snag an earlier one but I would rather have a reservation in the system than to show up without one...Goodluck!

Thanks! I think Im just gonna keep checking until we leave. I actually just scored an 8am Crystal Palace for 4 people on our last full day! Couldnt believe that. We did that a couple of years ago, it was awesome getting into MK before the park opened. I have pics of my husband and kids in front of the castle with no one around.

If you are staying at the Polynesian, could you also not do something with concierge or at the front desk when you are there to try to secure an ADR....don't they try to give priority to resort guests? :confused3

I would make an ADR for Kona just in case though, so I had somewhere to eat.

They neither give priority to resort guest nor hold tables just for walkups. This is true of all resort restaurants and is different than other places in the real world.

The odds are not impossible but they are not good - and the odds are that if there is any availability you will have a long wait, possibly several hours.

We had one report that 'Ohana does give priority at check-in to Polynesian guests - but where there is no availability, I don't see that they can make availability for you.

We were @ the Poly on Sunday, April 10,2011. While we ate @ the sushi bar, friends we were with were able to eat @ Ohana around 5 pm with a party of 6. I think it was about a 30 minute wait. I guess it does happen, depending on the day/time of year... And luck!
