I would like to go to Ohana for a family dinner. DH and I with our 3 children (5,4,2). I am tr ying to only choose a few sit down dinners for our stay. I was not sure if Ohana should be one of them. I have heard good things from people but the Unofficial Guide gives it only a mediocre rating. I have never been so I was looking for some feedback. Any other suggestions would be great too,, just not sure with the kids, what would be a good meal and fun for them. Thanks for any help.

We love Ohana, the food is good and they give you plenty of it. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere, too.

Here's some photos from our meal in May:

YUM!!

i agree with the ug...somethings like the salad and wings were really good( not sure if they are still serving the salad, think the wings are still there) the shrimp i liked is no longer the same as what they have now..that was good then, don't know about now. imo to pay 20+ for a meal that included overdone pork and turkey( normally like them both, these were bone dry) and way over done beef was a lot of money. some have said you can ask for less done meat but since our waiter was not around that would not have been a possiblity. just a lot of money for food that in all reality i probably would have sent back if i had gotten it at a normal plated rest. ( the pics above are from the old menu but someone did post some from the new one under Ohana review and pic. i think it was titled)

the atmosphere if you sit in the main room( we were shuttled off to no man's land and couldn't see anything) might be nice , i couldn't really tell. they have a few games for the kids and pipe in the music for wishes (had asked for a table to see wishes and waited forever for one but hmm maybe if i was a contortionist i could have ....)

all in all i wouldn't hurry back

If I was paying for it, then no. We ate there a week ago and the appetizers were good and the dessert was good but the steak was almost raw (we found out later you have to request it to be cooked more than rare) and the pork was dry as all get out. Our waiter never brought over sausage or turkey. We were on the dining plan so that made it better that we didnt have to "pay".

the old menu, pictured above, looks better than the newer one, located in the threads somewhere.

All the times we've been, it's been medium well to well done, and we've never had a chance to request otherwise.

Oh, and I think the new menu is miles above the old one. I think it's definitely worth a try, at least once, especially with all the improvements.

since our waiter was not around
We were just there 2 wks ago and I wanted to comment on not seeing the waitress. We had to wait for whatever we asked for. Finally, I just said can we get our dessert and check together we need to make it back to Magic Kingdom for a parade. We missed 10 min of it but if I would of let her keep at the pace she was going we would of been there another 30-45min.

We ate at Ohana's the day the new menu started. It was our first time there, so we don't have anything to compare. We just loved it!! We had an early seating. Had a wonderful view of castle. Server offered all of us non-alcoholic daquiris which our DD10 absolutely loved. DD3 and DD6 also enjoyed the meal. I think it probably depends on the time and server. Have :sunny: a wonderful trip!!

Simply put....Yes, it is worth it! My favorite meal on our last trip in April. Trya and request a table by the window. A view of the castle from Ohana's is Magical!

We love O'hana. For the amount of food, and the quality, I think it is a pretty good value.
