I have a hubbie that hates watching the fireworks in the park (I know...shock). He says it's way too crowded and hates waiting two hours sitting on a curb.

So, I was thinking....when we go in late August, how would this work...

Dinner at Ohana, wander down to the beach and watch the fireworks and then the Electric Water Parade? Do they still do it?

What time would you suggest I get ADR's for? Will it be crowded on the beach? Will there be lawn chairs? When would you wander down to the beach?

Do you have to be a resort guest at the Poly? We will be at the POFQ.

Thanks!!!

Good plan! We did that last year but we actually got to see Wishes during dinner at Ohanas and then we saw the Electrical Water Parade from the beach. It was one of our favorite nights of our entire trip!

It's a great idea and I do the same thing whenever I dine at an MK resort area restaurant!

I would try to get your 'Ohana ADR for three hours before Wishes is scheduled that evening. You want to figure in time for waiting to be seated, eating, and then staking out a spot on the beach. August hours are not out yet, but my guess is the fireworks will be at 9 or 10.

I don't know what time the Electric Water Pageant is, but yes, they still show this nightly.

I've never seen the Poly Beach too crowded at Fireworks time, but I always go during off-peak times and it's usually somewhat chilly. In late August I would guess it will be more crowded. Even with a lot of people, the Poly beach will still have an amazing view though.

There are lots of chairs and loungers but those are what gets taken up fast.

I would try to get down to the beach 30 mins before showtime.
You do not have to be a Poly resort guest to watch Wishes or EWP from the beach there.

haha! My husband is exactly the same. He LOVES watching it from the Poly beach though. We watched it last mid-August there and it was a little busy, but we were able to find a lounge chair 1/2 hour before. Late August will be less busy as Florida kids and some others are back to school.

The Electrical Water Parade passes the Poly at 9pm. If the fireworks are at 9then the parade will be after that.

I would make reservations for around 7:00. Even with waiting you should be out by 8:30.

I am doing this in April :cool1: It was actually my hubby's idea! We got 6:45 ADR's at Ohana , then we plan on grabbing some fruity drinks and watching the 10pm fireworks :dance3:

We will be visiting in November and I'm guessing that Wishes will be at 8:00 p.m. on the night we hope to eat at 'Ohana. Would you recommend watching the fireworks during dinner or plan on finishing dinner and watching from the beach afterwards?

What a great idea!

We try do something fun the night we arrive to start off our week. I was flirting with the idea of the Hoop Di Do, but was having a hard time swallowing the cost of 7 people. This will be a new experience for us (we've already done the Hoop Di Doo), and it will be my birthday! I can't think of a more awesome way to spend my birthday!

Thanks for the great idea! I love the Disboards...

We do this almost all the time because DD3 hates fireworks and I love them. So we have dinner at a monorail resort and let her play in the sand and then she usually falls asleep in her stroller on on us while we watch the fireworks.

I have to say it is not the same as being IN the park, but it is better than not seeing them at all.

I don't know what time the Electric Water Pageant is, but yes, they still show this nightly.

The two hardest things to predict at WDW are the weather and the time of the Electric Water Pageant.:rotfl2:

We go in late August and stay at the Poly and the key to seeing the EWP is to pick a night when Wishes is at 10:00. On those nights you are almost guaranteed the EWP will be at 9:00. On nights when Wishes is at 9:00 the EWP is supposed to run after Wishes but when we were there last year they ran it during Wishes a couple of times which is kind of useless.
