'Ohana Bread Pudding Twice In One Trip?! How can Life Possibly Get Better Than That *Complete*

I have never been to Mama melrose but it does look good. Defintely a place I would like to try at least once.

Ohana' I have only been too for breakfast and we loved it. I would love to try dinner but some of the picky eaters in my family probably wouldn't like it.

Wow, can't believe how good your Mama Melrose meal looks (and apparently tasted). Like you its never been on my radar, but I've read a few good reviews as of late. Glad to add an opinion I really trust to the mix ; )

Despite a few miscues, it looks like Ohana was a great experience. I haven't been there since the late 90's so sadly no bread pudding for me, but hopefully we will rectify that next month. And the ice cream picture and bread pudding at 9pm is totally killing me right now.

Funny thing happens occasionally when I read dining reviews. Someone will do a really positive review of a place we've been(and include very drool worthy pictures!) but we found said place so-so and had no desire to return. However, after reading the review, I once again feel the need to try the restaurant again-such is now the case with Mama Melrose :) Last time we ate there was in 2012 and the meal was absolutely nothing special, but yours looks and sounds so good! Might just have to stick MM back in the rotation for one of these trips coming up :-)

Amazing DRs!! You've added so many new possibilities to our next trip, we may have to stay for a couple of weeks to try them all!

I have just recently found a love for afternoon teas. Unfortunately, my husband has not. Maybe if I can arrange some sort of DISMeet for my next trip, I can convince them to meet me there. :genie:

I love Ohana so much! I think it's changed a bit since we went last in Feb. We had the lettuce wraps but pork not chicken. So now there is chicken, but it has a sauce on it-humm I hope it's good. I loved the old chicken grilled, almost blackened, w/ just the lime, then I dipped it in the peanut sauce. :cloud9:That sauce is delicious!!! That dessert is one of the best in WDW!!!!

Definitely no lettuce wraps for us, but that doesn't sound like our kinda thing, so I guess it's okay with us. I can't compare the chicken to the way it was before, but what we had was AMAZING!!!

I agree that the dumplings at 'Ohana are amazing. One of my favorite WDW foods. But I am so disappointed with the changes they keep making there. It feels overpriced to me at this point. But the bread pudding .... oh my heaven! Knowing that it is available at Tambu is a definite bonus!

Not only do they have the bread pudding at Tambu Lounge, but it's also very inexpensive. I believe it was just $4.99. A bargain! Tambu has definitely become our spot.

Great reviews Jeri! We love Ohana and it is a must do for use each trip. I do sometimes feel rushed but I'm glad they paced you well - you timed it so well with Wishes that night!

We've never been to Mama Melrose, but your food looks great. I feel the same way about HS. By lunch time, I've done 3 or 4 big rides and I'm good to go. We may have to try Mama Melrose sometime. :)

Thanks! We were definitely pleased with the pacing that night. I guess it all depends on your server, time of day, etc. You never know.

MM was definitely worth checking out! We were so surprised by it.

Thanks for the MM review. We have a reservation for it next month and am excited to try it out. I love Ohana, my hubby not so much, that dessert is killer there. I may need to get one to go from the bar hahaha!

Awesome! Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Definitely stop by the bar and get the bread pudding the next time you are at Poly. All the food they serve at Tambu is excellent.

MM looks great! They definitely seem to be on the upswing. I am bummed the lettuce wraps are no longer at O'Hana, that was my favorite part of the meal last trip...well other than the bread pudding ;)

Too bad about the lettuce wraps. At least I didn't know first hand that I was missing out on anything.

We are definitely big MM fans now. Hopefully it's just as good the next time we go.

My sister and I tried MM on our trip in 2013 and we both loved it, it was the surprise hit of the trip!

Ghirardelli is Ah-Ma-Zing!!

We're in the minority when it comes to 'Ohana as we're definitely not fans of the place. Good to know you can order the bread pudding elsewhere though, because that part is fantastic.

Really enjoying your reviews! :flower1:

Thanks so much!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one surprised by MM! It was a big hit with us for sure.

'Ohana reviews are so mixed, but the consensus is definitely all positive towards the bread pudding, so it's a good thing you can get it at Tambu. They also let me get it from Kona before, so at least they don't make it hard on us to get our sweet tooth fix. :thumbsup2

Finally caught up with your DR! 'Ohana bread pudding is incredible. I ordered it at Kona two years ago and was thrilled that I finally got to try it and that it lived up to its reputation. So glad you were able to get a last minute ADR for dinner!

Your Ghirardelli desserts look great. I'm pretty sure I think of your DRs every time I walk by there now!

I was seriously so excited to score this reservation. It made the trip for me.

 I definitely like being associated with Ghirardelli!

First of all, no more pear and gorgonzola at the Tea? That was my favorite sandwich.
And I haven't been to Mama Melrose in many years. Off to look at my dining schedule for my next trip to see if I can fit it in somewhere. ;) Haven't been to 'Ohana since 2007 when we had a bad experience there regarding the service. I'm in no hurry to return, but I would consider going to the Tambu Lounge to have the bread pudding again. Thanks for the reminder that they serve it there. :thumbsup2

I know! That was my favorite too. Serious bummer.

MM is definitely going in the rotation for us. I still really want to try 50s Prime Time though.

So many misses with 'Ohana. Glad we had a good experience. Definitely take some time to check out Tambu for a little while and get some food. We love it there!

MM looks really good, thanks for all the pictures and reviews. We have had reservations for MM and we canceled to do something else, next time we will keep the ADR.

Glad I was able to sway you into MM. We never really even considered trying it. Not even sure what made us change our minds, but I'm glad we did!

That was us too. We thought, well we'll try it just once, and I'm glad we did.

It has been about 9 years since we did 'Ohana for breakfast. I liked it, but it wasn't worth the money for us. We are better off sticking to Kona if we are at Poly, but I would definitely go there again in the future.

We were totally blown away by MM! I actually really look forward to going back there next year. Glad I was able to interest you into maybe chekcing it out.

I really hope you get to do 'Ohana. I loved it despite not loving every aspect of the meal.

 I know exactly what you mean! I think that every time I see a review of The Wave. I hope if you do give MM another try that you have a much more memorable meal this time around.

Thanks so much! I know what you mean. I would have to stay for over a month to fit in everything I want to try.

I am fortunate that Rob also enjoys afternoon tea just enough to accompany me. We also have a place at home we have enjoyed going to for tea as well. Hopefully you can arrange a DISmeet so that you have an opportunity to try it!

Just wanted to pop in to say that I made an ADR at MM for our March trip! With the overall failure at Sci Fi this past trips and DS's general dislike of 50's, your review made my decision an easy one! Looking forward to our meal!

Oh!! I'm happy to hear the chicken was amazing. :woohoo:

Yay! That is awesome. I like Sci-Fi, but I'm kinda over the unique factor. I just want great food. I hope you have a great experience at MM next year.

I am loving your reviews!! Great read, I'm drooling now!!

Thanks so much for reading along!

Oh!! I'm happy to hear the chicken was amazing. :woohoo:

I hope you like it as much as you used to.

The next morning we got an early start at AK and arrived right around rope drop time. We were actually pretty hungry and decided to grab a bite to eat before getting on any rides. Our first stop was Pizzafari.

Their menu was pretty different from a year ago and I didn't care for any of the items they had. I wish I had remembered to take a pic of the menu, but I wasn't impressed. No cheese danish and no french toast sticks. Bummer. But Rob liked the sound of the breakfast burrito they had which was filled with sausage, scrambled eggs, peppers, cheese and salsa.

He enjoyed his burrito. The place was basically empty too, which was nice.

Next we stopped at Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery on our way to the safari so that I could grab something for myself.

I had an always enjoyable cheese danish and Rob ending up having one as well since they are so darn hard to resist.

Then it was time to enjoy the animals on the safari which we had a quick trip through the stand-by line for once and another trip courtesy of FP+.

After two times on the safari and a walk around the Pangani Trail Rob decided to stop at Tamu Tamu Refreshments for a Dole Whip.

Sorry, terrible picture, but it was soooooo hot and the ice cream was melting fast and Rob was not feeling my picture taking at this moment.

After a trip on Everest and two trip on Dinosaur we were DONE with Animal Kingdom. I just can't handle this park in the heat and I was getting grouchy. We had an afternoon beat the heat excursion in mind...

When we left AK we took the bus over to the Boardwalk for one of our favorite mid-day pit stops... ESPN Club!

This is an older picture. It was definitely NOT that cloudy outside.

Once inside we were seated by a girl who was actually from around our way, so we had a nice conversation with her and she put the Phillies game on at our table.

We started off with drinks, because what is a ballgame without some beer!

I had an Angry Orchard Hard Cider.

And Rob got a pitcher of Blue Moon, which we shared with me.

We were ready for some lunch grub too.

Rob ordered the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese.

So, obviously this was AMAZING! He was in heaven. He even let me have a bite or two. I have to have this next time.

I ordered my favorite here, the Pub Nachos corn tortillas, barbecued pulled pork, chili, cheddar cheese sauce, sour cream, pico de gallo, and shredded cheddar.

These are always amazing. I'm going without the cheddar cheese sauce next time though. It makes the chips too soggy.

We enjoyed our food and had a great time watching the Phillies. We took the bus to DTD and caught a movie. Insurgent was the movie this go around, which was our least favorite this trip.

We took the walkway from the West Side to SSR this time, which takes you through part of the beautiful golf course as well. Not a bad day so far!

Later that day we drove over to the Beach Club, which is always gorgeous in the evening.

We had dinner reservations at one of my favorite dining locations, Beaches & Cream!

We waited a good 15-20 minutes past our reservation time. There were a few empty tables, but they weren't being cleared, so we sat outside for awhile enjoying the evening air and people watching those at the pool.

Finally we were seated inside at a table right by the door. It was packed as always and there were some fun groups in there as well. A few Kitchen Sinks were ordered, which is always fun since they make a little bit of a spectacle out of it.

Our server here was AWESOME! He was so friendly and just perked me right up after our long wait outside.

Rob and I both ordered a Cherry Coke. I love that they use the legit cherry syrup here for the cherry and vanilla Cokes.

Even though I love the burgers here I decided to try something different and got the Beaches Hot Dog with Onion Rings subbed for fries.

This was ridiculous! So good! I mean, it's just a hot dog and onion rings, but it was out of this world good. It will be hard to ever not get the onion rings again. My only complaint was the pickle spear. I love pickle spears with a sandwich or a hot dog and this one was really sweet. I prefer a nice dill flavor. Too sweet for my tastes and same for Rob.

Rob got the Beaches Patty Melt. Angus beef burger with sauteed onions, swiss, garlic-peppercorn dressing on rye bread, however, he asked to sub the rye bread for a regular burger bun, which they were happy to accommodate.

He really liked this a lot. Great meals all around.

Next, I had to do it. I ordered my favorite sundae. The No Way Jose! A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge delight featuring Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry.

This was of course, fabulous! I can't possibly get any other sundae here. Can't do it.

I love Beaches & Cream! Simple, but great food. The service is always outstanding and I love the small, bright, fun atmosphere. It's a must-do for me every time. Rob is still very bitter they got rid of the Pot Roast Sandwich, but despite that fact, he enjoys it here as well.

Now we have to drag our full bellies outta here and back to the resort for some Big Bang Theory episodes and Tums before bed.

We had no real plans the next day when we woke up and decided to wing it. I ended up checking out the app for breakfast ideas and we decided to book a breakfast ADR at one of our favorites, Trail's End.

It was a pretty quick ride over to FW and we got a bus back to the restaurant immediately, so we were at breakfast in no time.

We had the same server from our lunch the first day, which was nice. He grabbed our juice and coffee while we hit up the buffet.

My first plate, clockwise from the top consisted of a chocolate chip Mickey waffle, breakfast pizza, biscuit and gravy, Krispy Kreme donut holes, breakfast potatoes and pulled pork eggs benedict.

Closeup on the pulled pork eggs benedict.

And of course the Mickey waffle needs it's own shot as well.

Everything was fresh and delicious. I can't get enough of the eggs benedict here. It looks like they cooked the eggs in muffin tins now and they were a little overdone for my taste, but it was still delicious. I loved that they had the donut holes here as well. The breakfast potatoes have chunks of beef in them, which are just out of this world.

Rob's first plate, clockwise from the top, consisted of breakfast potatoes, french toast bread pudding with praline sauce, sausage, bacon and pilled pork eggs benedict.

My second plate consisted of another chocolate chip waffle, another eggs benedict (I told you they were good), more breakfast potatoes, one last donut hole, and some of the french toast bread pudding with praline sauce for myself.

The bread pudding here is amazing. I was so full, but I just couldn't stop eating all this awesome food.

Rob's second plate had another eggs benedict, sausage, some pastries and some hash browns.

So good! We were so full we could pass out. We once again utilized our Disney Visa discount here, which is a nice savings.

You can't go wrong having breakfast here. The food is always phenomenal and I think it's the cheapest buffet breakfast on property.

I have still not been to B&C! Every trip I say we are going to go and then I end up changing things and not getting there. Love Rob's patty melt on a hamburger bun! Wouldn't have thought of asking for that!

And I will get the TE for breakfast! OMG ... that looks delicious! Now how to tell DS that he has to get up early one of the mornings Spring break ....:scared:

After breakfast we floated our full bellies around the pool for awhile and then got ready to head to DTD. We utilized the path on the West Side end again this time, which was quite convenient. I loved the sign at the golf course too.

No, thank you!!!!

We made our way to AMC for the first show of the day for Mad Max Fury Road. We were soooooo pumped up for this movie and were so glad we got to see it while we were down here. And they gave us free posters on our way in. Cool! A cocktail to celebrate? Of course!

I decided to try another one of the beer cocktails at MacGuffins. This time I got the Orange Squeeze Shandy. This had Blue Moon Belgian White, Patron Citronge and a splash of lemonade.

I decided to grab a popcorn for good measure, because hey, it's vacation.

The Peach Shandy drink was better, but this was still very good. And more importantly the movie was RIDICULOUS!!!! So awesome! We now own it and have watched it way too many times.

We enjoy ESPN club as well. In January we spent a Sunday watching our Packers beat the Cowboys in the playoffs.

I have only been to beaches and cream once and that was for one sole purpose to have a kitchen sink and it was fantastic. I've heard many other good things about the place and we are staying at the beach club in January so I'll probably be back there for something else.

Never been to trails end but heard good things about it. I do want to try it some day.

Looks like a great couple of food days. So gotta try that grilled cheese at ESPN one of these days, as it looks amazing. And speaking of pork, those eggs bennies are seriously making my stomach growl. Hoping next time we stay at WL we can finally make it over there as you've been tempting me for a while now. And speaking of tempting we got to try beaches for the first time and agree it is definitely a gem!
