Ohana - Bad experience

Seems like a bad experience right from the start. Doesn't sound as though the Manager handled it very well either.

I didn't care for the food either ohana is not on our list thisyear and neither is
concourse it took forever to get our food and it wasn't as good as the year before.

We're going on in2 weeks with DS& and DS6. We booked this for the buffet (my kids don't like typical kid menus) and the interaction.....I hope it doesn't disappoint!

We had ADR for Ohana's character breakfast. Even though we had ADR we still had to wait over 30 minutes (the longest wait for a table at any of our ADRs!).

We were seated right next to the kitchen doors which I thought would help us get our food faster...NO SUCH LUCK! The waitress was friendly, sort of, but we did have to BEG for her to bring out more food (no joke). I guess she thought she was being funny.

The food was pretty good and I know I left the place FULL. My DS really enjoyed himself and filled himself up as well (a big plus right there).

They have a character parade, which he was in, and was fun to watch...but kind of annoying if you just want to eat. The characters came around pretty quickly, Mickie and Minnie were there too, which really surprised me. But then Stitch took a LONG TIME. We were finished and ready to go but I made sure that it looked like we were still eating so we could wait for Stitch to come by the table! He finally came over and we got our pictures and we left after that.

That is probably why the wait is so long, there are other guests sitting there waiting for the characters (again, mainly Stitch) and/or the next 'parade'.

Overall, the food was good, the service was VERY POOR, and the characters were good (but took awhile). So it was really a mixed bag. I've decided to check out other dining places and character meals before I ever go back to this one!

There isn't much "interaction" at this restaurant.:confused3 The 'Cousins' aren't much more than servers with a funny title. There is a hula hoop contest and a coconut race, but that's about it.

we will NEVER eat there again. it was horrible all the way around. By the way, we are usually very impressed with how well disney does their food.

This is how I feel about it as well. We ate dinner there on 9/4 and it was horrible. We paid OOP for it on top of it all and I felt our money was totally wasted. The food was inedible IMO, the service was HORRIBLE and the silverware was even dirty- a first for me in a WDW restaurant in more than 40family trips to WDW.

They need to do an overhaul of the menu, the service, and the whole system of that restaurant. Once the bad reviews really start to get around, they'll likely see attendance dropping. I plan to tell them in detail what is wrong with the system and the food when I write my post-trip letter to WDW as is my custom.

Save those TS credits if you're on the DDP and go to Kona for dinner. Or Liberty Tree Tavern in MK for lunch. But skip Ohana unless headaches and bad food are your idea of a good time LOL

WE have reservations in 2 weeks. Has anyone had a good experience at dinner. I have asked my kids and they still want to go. I was thinking of changing it since it's 9:00 at night and all the bad reviews. Any good ones out there!!!

We had a 7pm ADR on 9/8 for O'hana. Overall we enjoyed it. The food was delicious. I could of eaten the peel -n- eat shrimp all night. Both DH and I agreed that they bring the food out to you too fast! Before we could finish enjoying our salad, everything else was on our table. We didn't feel rushed to finish our meal though. We spent a leisurely hour and half there. The turkey was fabulous! Lipoa was fun. We didn't see a coconut race but she did do a parade and hula lessons.

The 7pm time slot was nice because people were starting to filter out so the restaurant was a bit quieter.

THank you. This makes me feel better. We really don't care that much about the race or parade. Just concerned about the food. I see you are from WY - one of our favorite states. Lucky you!!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We haven't eaten there in a couple of years but were going to try it again on our next trip. Hopefully it won't be as disappointing as your meal was. :guilty:
