Oh Yeah, V's At It Again! A May 2007 Pre-Trip Report

DLMama: I call that big hair "Rodeo Hair" and have been known to have it every once in awhile.
Rodeo Hair, huh? :rotfl: I wish I had Rodeo hair!

I have Rodeo Hair. I'll be glad when the 80's style comes back. Then I can dig out the Member's Only jacket and the parachute pants and I'll be the queen of fashion once again! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:
Sad thing is, S'late the 80's fashions are slowly creeping back in. The whole babydoll dresses with leggings fiasco is on it's way, baybeeee!! Just think by this fall you'll be soooo in!:thumbsup2

And with all that humidity, I'll be just right!

V, I love your :teeth: sparkly eyes, lovely smile and beautiful hair....don't cut it!!!!! :thumbsup2

V, I like your hair! It does look really good on ya! I wish I could wear my hair like that but my face is just way to round! But just in case your are dissatisfied let me introduce you to my very best friend... THE BASEBALL CAP!!!:thumbsup2
I have very thick, very big and frizzy hair. I wear my cap a lot. Actually bought a really cute one at AK last year with some animal print and all! I just love it, works in a pinch and is great for a day at the park!!

Yeah us Brits are ahead of you for once :yay: that's the fashion at the moment (and last fall) I hated it the first time around those dresses make even the skinniest look fat!

That is TOO FUNNY! :lmao: Will you also find your parachute pants and Guess jeans with the ankle zippers? :rotfl2:

I have a rule...GOLDEN JEN RULE:
If you wore it once in your lifetime...not allowed again. Nope...don't even try!

That rules me out for any legging style get-ups, razor sharp pointed shoes, skin tight guess jeans. :rotfl:

OMG! You are so pretty! You look like a skinnier version of Joanie, the sister from the show Providence. Anyone remember that show?!

I say keep it...I love the flip...

V - I love your hair and what a great pic, should be easy to find you in MGM for the Fritzie exchange.

DLMama, if you love big hair come to Essex County NJ (aka Tony Soprano Land), lots of big hair babes around here.

You're right! She does look like Joanie.

:rotfl2: You all are too funny! And very sweet :grouphug:

But, here's a critical point I forgot until now... in order for it to look "super cute", I must blow-out and flat iron. A LOT of flat-ironing. Will I be willing to do this at WDW? :confused3 I'd say it's highly unlikely.
What it's got going for it now is the fact that I can leave it curly and if it's not looking good, I can always pull it back. If I lose any more length, I'll be stuck ironing it into submission.

Still thinking, but I'm leaning toward leaving it be till after this trip.... I am planning to blow it out tomorrow, though, so I'll be happy to take a pic and post it! I'm seeing a new stylist and she does an AMAZING cut! :thumbsup2

I feel your pain! My vote is to not cut it at this point. Trust me, I'm a gal with very curly hair so I know exactly what you're talking about. It takes about an hour to blow dry then flat iron my hair and I don't do it myself, I get it done at a salon a couple time a month and the rest of the time I just wear it curly. I'm thinking you won't have time for the maintenance while on vacation. Sigh, it takes a lot of work to be gorgeous!;)

DANG - you all are way to good for my ego! ;) Thanks so much for all the nice hair comments. Something took place this weekend. it may have involved some scissors. In the vicintity of my head. And it is GOOD. :thumbsup2

I'm all voe rthis rule. I actually tried on a flimsy little baby-doll number with leggings the other day. I looked like a twelve year old. In 1986. Not happening.:sad2:

Oh V you can't just leave us all hanging you know, we need details and photographic evidence :thumbsup2

Before I get into this one, I must comment on what I’ve been reading while writing this. Seems like every TR and pre-TR I’ve read recently, the writer was at the same stage I’m at now – Pre Trip Shopping! I’m at once heartened and a little disturbed that we’re all in the same boat. I mean, how is it that Disney has us so well-trained that we begin emptying our pockets MONTHS before entering those gates?! Has Mickey infiltrated the public water systems across the nation? Anyway, here’s my version…

Seems we all have those “must-buy” items to pick up before our pilgrimage to The Mouse, and I’m no exception.

Yes. Despite living less than two hours away from said Mouse. And. Visiting him several times a year.

I know.

I should have everything I need by now, right. Sadly, I can always find something new, or more accurately, a new “need” to fill. And this trip seems to have more than the usual amount of “needed” accoutrements… as evidenced by the number of dollars each fine retail establishment has charged to my Disney Visa. (Gotta get those points!:thumbsup2 ) Just for kicks, I’ll list them with one $ per item…

Gifts. No, not souvenirs to bring back for family and friends. To be honest, I’ve done away with that. I mean, really, I’m there like 2-3 times a year minimum. How many Mickey tea towels do my co-workers really need, right?:confused3

No, I’m talking gifts for my fellow travelers. I already mentioned wanting to do something special in recognition of B’s first trip to The World. I put together a gift bag with all a one year old needs to properly experience WDW:

It includes his very first Mickey ears, (personalized, of course) and a 2007 official name badge. A trip to the Disney Store brought back a toddler-appropriate stuffed Mickey and a set of Pooh snack containers. I ordered a onesie with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang on front and “Magical Memories” on the back. And teeny, tiny sunglasses to protect B’s sparkling blues.

I couldn’t very well leave Leo out, now could I? He’ll also receive a 2007 official name badge and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Tshirt. And, while I was at it, I had a tiki Minnie Tshirt made for me, too.

Since we’ll be celebrating Leo’s birthday at WDW, I went about getting some gifts for that, too: Little Einstein’s CD and Tshirt, Hot Wheels watch, Toy Story video game, two books and a tube-o-pirates.

Shoes. Okay, here I’ll admit I have a problem. I looooove my shoes.

Carrie Bradshaw is my hero. I have a Shoe of the Day desk calendar. I fantasize about the day I can afford a pair of Manolos. If or when I ever evacuate, my shoe collection gets packed first. I really love my shoes.

But, here’s the thing – all my really good shoes are work shoes. That’s where I spend most of my time. And. Let’s be honest, the cutest shoes are usually the least comfortable. Since I sit at a desk all day, I can get away with my cute little foot-torture-devices.

What I mean is this… I did NOT have cute shoes for Disney. My weekend shoes are flips. Cute, but not good for walking an area equivalent in size to San Francisco - for a week straight. I did have my one pair of lime green Crocs. Not so cute, but always comfy. I wound up wearing them most of our December trip. I really did try to convince myself that one pair of Crocs and some flips for evenings would be sufficient.

And I would’ve gotten away with it, too.
If it weren’t for you meddling kids! Zoinks!

Oh, sorry.

I’d have been just fine, had I not entered the Crocs store, (conveniently located a block from my house, TFI), in search of Mickey Crocs for Leo. While he tried on his choice – lime green!:thumbsup2 – I perused the Nile model. Hmmm. They were a lot cuter in person than online. Leo saved me that day – he was in a foul mood and we left as soon as I got his Crocs paid for.

$ Crocs store

Leo showed off his new Mickey Crocs to D the next weekend. She commented on how cute they were and how she’d seen them on a little girl B’s age and thought about getting him some when he started to walk.

Yep, I went back to my local Crocs store the following weekend to get B a pair of tiny little Mickey Crocs. Alone. Unsupervised. All by myself… don’t wanna be… all by myseeeelf…

I left with a pair for B.
And. A pair of Niles. And a pair of Mary Janes.
For me.

They were sooo cute, I just couldn’t resist. And I rationalized it like this: flips really aren’t very good for my feet, so I’ll wear these Crocs all summer instead! The Crocs store lady helped with that thought process. TFI.

Here they all are, in their glory:

Clothes. Now, Disneyland_Mama asked in her pre-trippie recently if anyone buys a new wardrobe for their WDW trip. And I admitted, that, yes, I kind of did this time. Again, despite already living in Florida. I’ll blame work once more for this.

Technically, I do own some shorts and Tshirts. Exactly enough for a long weekend. ‘Cause the rest of my time is spent at work, in an air conditioned office. And I did already own a couple swimsuits, but they’re two years old – down here, that’s a looong life for a swimsuit and they’re both pretty worn out.

So when Old Navy had a sale, I stocked up on new T’s. 2 for $10? I stocked WAY up. :cool1:
Yeah, and I got Leo a couple T’s too. And the one pair of Bermuda shorts they had left in my size.

Target helped me out with two more pair of shorts, a surfer T for Leo, and a Hawaiian short for him to wear to Ohanas. And some new pajama bottoms for V. I like new PJ’s for vacations, too.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Old Navy
$$$$$$ Target

I also did some swimsuit shopping. For the 5th straight year I bought a cheap(er) suit at Target and hated it after wearing it once. I finally smartened up and dropped the money for two good suits that are cute AND will cover all rear-view parts, AND will last through more than 3 months of salt, chlorine and sun.

DIS Stuff.
This part actually wasn’t so bad! I liberated some LGMH’s from Home Depot for free and bought a couple Team Focker Watch lanyards. That’s it! I already had my LGMH cutouts for windows, strollers and backpacks.

Bags. You read that right – bags. Plural. Because my Baggallini from last September is the pits. No good at all when I have to hyperextend my shoulders to get it on and off for each ride.

I found the perfect mini backpack while in Buffalo this January. Compartments for everything, water bottle pocket, secret pocket for, well… secret stuff. And. Bonus… it was on sale! :woohoo:

Then I went to WDW for a day and saw a woman carrying one of those Vera Bradley-style quilted bags. It, too, was a mini backpack style. Just the right size and shape. And. It was lime green. With little periwinkle flowers.

I had a mission. After much Googling and searching, I found it and – voila! – I now have two bags from which to choose each day!

Next: Final preparations are under way.

OMG V how much shopping have you done and your shoe collection, wow! I love your goodie bag for B, I must get the girls one of those name badges this year! I know I've asked this before but are crocs really that comfy, flame away but I really don't like the look of the classic (?) ones but the mary janes look cute, do they stay on your feet well?

Great job!!! I love your rationale....
you are so thoughful too. :cloud9:
your friends are going to have a great time!!

I LOVE the Mary Janes!!! i really want some for the summer.... maybe Mother's Day... I need to start dropping hints...:rolleyes1

I'm a SO with you on this one! I was just perusing the Talbots.com site - they've got 25% off anything already on sale today. Not a WHOLE lot that will work at WDW, but I did find some bermuda shorts...and I still have about 17 more pages to go...

I have serious shoe and shoe organization envy! AND - I LOVE the Vera Bradley bag -- after I finish with Talbots, I'll need to hunt this puppy down! (Mental note: must do SOME work for PAY today...)

As for the Crocs - I ordered my own pair of celery MaryJanes online just last night - saw the MJs in person over the weekend and LOVE THEM, but they didn't have them in celery - which looks like a paler version of the lime green, almost florescent. I know, not officially a TFW color - I just liked it better than the lime! I love the color you chose, too, though.... reading your Pre-Trip could be dangerous for my wallet!

I can't wait to see what you've done with your hair!

It looks to me like you've actually printed on your LGMHPCs - would you mind sharing HOW you do this?

Can't wait to hear more!

ok V, I want to see too!!Pretty please tell us about it and a pic would be good also. After all I do need to see who I am looking for in 13 DAYS!!
