Oh Yeah, V's At It Again! A May 2007 Pre-Trip Report

V,
I am constantly in a state of "WHAT am I going to do with my hair?!?" I am forever torn between "Momma-ease-of-the-ponytail" and "when-did-I-become-frumpy". It sounds like our hair is very similar...fine but a bus-load of it. HOWEVER, May will be less humid than your journey in August, so the frizz factor will be lower. I'm with everyone else and say go for it. If you're already 2 cuts into it, and a mere one cut away from FABULOUS, then cut away!

Cut it? No I don't think so. Why would anyone, esp. a sweet, smart, fantastic friend and all around talented trip planner, want to look super cute for a well deserved vaca? Are ya Kiddin' me with this?! Cut your hair woman! And you better get your behind back here with a picture so we can all say "I told you we were right about cutting your hair!"

Go for it! Cut it! You can always experiment with cute clips and things to hold it back. I am a victim of this unwillingly...I got a cut and she hacked most of it off and the ponytail i have is pretty silly looking LOL....but accessories always help!

:rotfl2: You all are too funny! And very sweet :grouphug:

But, here's a critical point I forgot until now... in order for it to look "super cute", I must blow-out and flat iron. A LOT of flat-ironing. Will I be willing to do this at WDW? :confused3 I'd say it's highly unlikely.
What it's got going for it now is the fact that I can leave it curly and if it's not looking good, I can always pull it back. If I lose any more length, I'll be stuck ironing it into submission.

Still thinking, but I'm leaning toward leaving it be till after this trip.... I am planning to blow it out tomorrow, though, so I'll be happy to take a pic and post it! I'm seeing a new stylist and she does an AMAZING cut! :thumbsup2

I was all set to post "Cut it!" and realized I still had another page of "unreads." With your new info, I say wait. I absolutely think you will look good, no matter what - but you're not gonna wanna get up an extra ?? minutes early on vacation. And, you're not gonna feel good about not doing it if you cut it - again, think of the pictures... ;)

I have the long mama ponytail hair going now, and I, too, am debating taking at least a few inches off - but I'm waiting until we're back, because, frankly, I rarely do my hair when NOT on vacation - at WDW, forget about it. :) Ponytail it is!

Oh V! That is a horse of a different color! Ok, so maybe you might want to leave it for now. I cut mine right before our June trip last year and had to straighten it every day just to get it to lay down. If not I looked like a used Q-Tip! :scared1:

I'm with the rest of the cutters. Get it how you want it. You can always wear a cute headbad to keep it back off your face. You will be cute-hot mama no matter what!

Make sure you keep de-frizzing product in at all times (you probably already do, knowign where you live).

p.s. I have short hair that requires a flat ironing too. I did it at WDW, just like any other day...it is short, so it doesn't take too long.

Yup, I'm with Pjv! Cut it and see how it does. You can always hold it back with a really cute head band. Tres chic! ;)

Look at me, here I am pushing you to cut your hair and I've got almost waist length hair that I'm terrified to cut. I do keep in in long layers so it's not too much of a "Mom" style. Flat irons are my friend. :lmao:

Anyone have a CHI? I'm considering making the $100+ leap. Sorry for the hijack, V! :teeth:

If not I looked like a used Q-Tip! :scared1:
THAT'S IT!!! I never can quite describe what my hair does in its natural state, but you've got it dead-on - a used Q-tip! :rotfl2:

See, that's my problem - my blow-out and flat-ironing takes 45 minutes. 45 minutes. And that's with my hair chin length!

That doesn't work, either, I'm afraid. My hair's so poofy it just floats around the headband. Not at all attractive. But thanks for the suggestions!

My plan is to take a good look at it tonight and see how much I could lose and still get it into a tiny little pony. I'll keep ya'lls posted! :thumbsup2

STOP! DO NOT buy the CHI. Sally Beauty Supply sells a generic version by Generic Value Products and it's every bit as good :thumbsup2 And. Sells for $60-70ish. I tried a bunch of retail flat-irons (Vidal Sassoon, Conair, etc.) and none of them worked on my hair. My generic CHI is AMAZING!

EDIT: Found your Sally's! Click here.

I am no help as I have almost pin straight hair that is shoulder length, I am not familiar with how much of a hassle ironing is.So if I understand correctly if you cut it there is no quickie "do" -you would have to blow it out or iron it? If that is the case then maybe wait it out, as you never know if you will get up late for some reason and then dont have time to style it like you will want.
I would love to see a pic of the new cut!

OMG! You're too funny! I think I'll take your word for it and check out the GVP one! Thanks, V!

My vote is to hold off...cut your hair after the trip. That is 45 minutes of hair doing that could be spent gettin' your drink on!!!:lmao: (if you feel like it)

 Here's a thought....if you do or don't get it cut, you could use one of those clips, not sure what they are called, but they remind me of an alligator. I think they are called alligator clips. They hold up even short, layered hair and always look good. You know what...I bet Umama could tell you what they are called. Anyways, my daughter and I always throw our hair up in them in the summer. I have above-shoulder-length hair thats layered and it stays up and is easy....and I am really rambling here...sorry...;)

Probably cause I am talking to myself...I am wondering what to do with my hair too. Last year I wore a ponytail with my visor to keep sun off my face. Maybe we need a thread about how to do our hair fast and easy!!!!

Hey V,

Sounds like your hair is a lot like my DD's. Have you tried the Ouidad products? (www.ouidad.com) She's addicted to them - even saved for months to get an appointment with a Ouidad certified stylist for a "carving and slicing" cut. Amazingly, her hair looks like organized curls now, instead of a very large cone of cotton candy. (or used Q-Tip... :p )

See, that's my problem - my blow-out and flat-ironing takes 45 minutes. 45 minutes. And that's with my hair chin length!

I was ready to say cut it, but I now say wait. You don't want to waste 45 minutes of Disney time doing your hair?:confused3 Think of how many rides you could do in that time. Pony tail it is! :thumbsup2

What about getting wet? We know from your last reports that Leo is getting really into the pools. I can't remember if he likes Splash Mountain or not, but if you have 45 minutes of work in the morning and then it gets wet at noon, will you want to take another 45 to "fix" it later in the day?

Cut it the day you get home! :)

Okay, I took a long, hard look. And some pics. Which are beyond awful. Truly horrendous. As in, no-WAY-am-I-posting-them-bad. It's beginning to feel like summer here - high near 90 and mass amounts of humidity. Even my generic CHI can't battle these conditions the first time around. It's always better the second day, anyway, so I'll try again tomorrow.

But, BOY does that give me an idea as to what will happen come early May in WDW! I may break out the flat-iron once or twice for a evening, but there's no chance I'll do this every day. And great point, cmp1111 - we will be in the pool most every afternoon. not only do I not want to ruin a perfectly good coif, my hair can't handle heat styling on a daily basis. And chlorine is not my firned. TFI.

And. I timed the process this AM. 45 minutes was a tad exagerated. Try 30. Still too many non-Disney minutes in the morning.

All that said, I think I'll play it safe and not cut it pre-trip. If it winds up raining every day of my vacation (NO!!!!:scared1: ), I know I'll want to pull my frizzy mess back. Better safe than sorry.

Okay, enough of my hair-ramblings. Time to get some more writing done on this baby.

Oh, and I should work, too.

I think we have the same hair. I won't cut mine for the same, exact reasoning. My sister has a CHI and I love, love it. I make her straighten my hair when she comes over, which isn't often enough. I need to look into the generic one! Thanks for the tip. :)
