Oh what a horrible trip!!!! Now for something completely different-Final blast ......

Looking back at the Grand Californian from the entrance to the esplanade to Disneyland.

I hope I get to try that place out someday. So cool to be staying so close.

The family members from the couple in front of me that apparently slept in and then joined the line. :headache:

:sad2:

Crowd behind me

Not bad at all. It's like a private event!

Look how CLOSE California Adventure is.. And it looks like DHS.

Very cool to be able to walk from one theme park to the other.

This is the opening show…

Wow, they're really going all out for you.

That was it for the opening show? How disappointing. :(

Was there a reason everything was always late when opening?

Not too crowded...can't wait to see what you do first.

Oh, and I love the signage with Pumba. :)

that is a pretty weak opening show.

and stinks that the casey junior train was not running.

8am opening? Nice! And no crowds to speak of - even nicer. As far as the opening show - hmmmmmm.

I do think its so funny how most things didn't open on time. But I love the proximity to the parks. How great.

The Magic Morning hours had me waiting in line at 6:30 am and gates open ...around 7 am . :scared1: East Coast time was working well for me.

Compared to the precision of WDW the lack of it was very obvious to me.

That was some opening show :rotfl2:Waiing 5 minutes is a life time or am I just impatient :rolleyes2:rotfl2:

All very " Mom and Pop" where WDW is an over the top production.

I guess considering I was in the first line around 6:30 am and then moved to the turnstiles at about 6:50, those extra minutes ( considering WDW NEVER opens late) were torture.

It gets worse with fireworks which I can set my watch by at WDW.

Cute decorations!

Not being on time to open? That is not the Disney way at all. :(

They did have cute decorations. The late thing bugged me.

That opening show looks fantastic!!!! :rotfl2:
Though I have yet to see the one at Mk at WDW yet, so I should keep my mouth shut! :rolleyes1

She did a good job but it was no MK opening. :lmao:

I hope I get to try that place out someday. So cool to be staying so close.

It was cool and if I am lucky I will get to do it again next year.

Yup. So close to the beginning of the line and well then you get pushed back about 8 people. :sad2:

Not bad at all. It's like a private event!

Well at 7 am most of California was still asleep. :rotfl2:

Very cool to be able to walk from one theme park to the other.

That was cool. Park hopping was a breeze.

Wow, they're really going all out for you.

:rotfl2: Not the MK opening show that's for sure.

The opening was a bit funny since it was .... well sort of a one woman show.

I never did find out but That morning park opening was as close to on time as it got. Considering MK will usually let you in a few minutes early and this was right on time, seemed like a fluke. :rotfl2:

My first mission...... oh I will spill. ..... Soon. ;)

I thought the rules with Pumba was pretty clever.

that is a pretty weak opening show.

DL had more of that cozy feel. Relaxed some too much but kind of go with the flow- except that the flow was always behind.

Gonna have to go back and read again, it looks like we might be back on for DL in March!! Fingers crossed we get GCV at 7 months! Turns out our two neighbor families will likely be there at the same time (not DVC, so we don't have to fight them for a room!)

Oh, and a little birdy told me that tomorrow we need to say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!party::rockband:party::bday::cake:

The first time in under the train tracks around the corner and you see ....

The clock,

Not too bad… like I said earlier, this was probably the closest to opening time as it got. This one was probably on the nose.

Now you see.......

The castle

IMG_6726.jpg

The tiny castle. The perspective is certainly different.

First destination – I wanted to ride something I could not ride at WDW.

Entrance – I remember being confused as to the actual entrance and which rope was up and letting people in. I know it looks pretty straightforward here but I think I had to walk over to the right and enter through another way. There was no CM by the umbrella or any other markings.

Then onto a classic. Actually I think this may have been from the Halloween party.

Great news!!!! I am crossing my fingers for you to get a room.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!party::rockband:party::bday::cake:

Thank you-

Okay, I've heard of the Matterhorn, but having never been to Disneyland, just what kind of ride is it?

The castle looks so....small. It looks like a dollhouse compared to the Castle at Disney World.

Happy Birthday Pat!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful day and I wish you the best for the next year of your life!!!

I love your DL update. I think the reason why the Matterhorn line is confusing is that there are two of them one for each side.

Happy Birthday, Pat! Thanks for posting the DL pics! :goodvibes

Okay, I've heard of the Matterhorn, but having never been to Disneyland, just what kind of ride is it?

The Matterhorn is a unique coster. From the Disneyland website:

Conquer the Mountain
Embark on a thrilling, high-speed run down the icy slopes of Switzerlands most famous peak.

Make your way inside a traditional, chalet-inspired rail station in the shadow of Switzerlands renowned Matterhorn mountain. Hop aboard a 4-person, weather-beaten sled and brace yourself against howling winds as you climb 80 feet high inside an icy cave. Take in the sweeping views at the summit and then hang on, because the only way off the mountain is down!

The Race Is On
Break out of the side of the mountain and race down the base of the peak. Swoop in and out of shadowy caves and along jagged rocky ledges. Throttle through icy chutes and around frozen precipices. Whisk across wooden and stone bridges, pass under waterfalls and weave around mysteriously glowing ice crystals before splashing down in a shallow alpine lake.

But the real peril is not the snow or sleet. Folklore has it that a growling monster known as the Abominable Snowman lives inside the mountainand that he will do anything and everything to protect his home.

Do you have what it takes to brave the mountain and discover if the legend of the mysterious snow monster is true?

Pick a Path
Choose one of 2 nearly identical bobsled runs: one located in Fantasyland and the other along the outskirts of Tomorrowland. Each has a separate queue and, during slower periods, only a single track may be in operation. Both tracks are equally fun, but keep in mind that the Fantasyland track is slightly longer and features some sharper curves.

I did not know about the different tracks.

The castle compared to MK is much less of an icon. The Matterhorn is more the icon becuse it can be seen fromanywhere in the park.

Happy Birthday Pat!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful day and I wish you the best for the next year of your life!!!

Only one side was running and the lack of signage for me is what confused me. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the birthday wishes. :goodvibes

:bday: party: :cake: Happy Birthday Pat!!! :cheer2: :jumping1: :yay:

Hope you have an outstanding day!!!

Thank you!!!! The storms last night knocked out power at our facility so today will be dealing with that, but once I can begin my weekend it will be better. :goodvibes

Happy birthday Pat!

So what did you think of the Matterhorn? It looks like fun. I would have been confused with the 2 queues as well.

Happy birthday Pat!

Thank You!

The Matterhorn was a fun run. The bobsled concept was fun. Think cars similar to Space Mountain to get in and out so low to the ground. Not as fast as they make it out to be- like space mountain. I never got a second ride because the line grew but it is on the do again list.

The lack of signage pointing to which side was open was confusing. While I was walking up and saw several others confused as well, so I am glad it jsut wasn't me.

I had my first visit button out so they would take pity on me.:lmao:

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!

Thank You !
