We have finally booked our flights to florida so we can go back to POR (we were there in '94 when it was dixie landings), am so excited.However, after two annoying phone conversations with disney in uk I am not sure what i should do. Discovered this brilliant website last weekend and I am hooked! So have been reading and trying to see where in magnolia bend we would prefer to stay, mentioned this to the two 'experts' (unbelievable) I spoke to and was told I could not request anything further than riverside. We are going in the autumn and do not want to end up not in magnolia bend. What do I do? Are there any ways around this?I am staggered by their attitude....to part with quite a lot of money and not know if we are going to be in the section we want until we check in leaves me pretty cross....the disney magic is fading already!

What company was it? Was ist disney.co.uk. We want to stay in toy story area of All star movies and was told to phone and fax the hotel 1-2 weeks prior to departure they can only try to meet our request. I understand it is frustrating not being able to request a certain part of the hotel, but there point of view was it would effect bookings so its random allocation. We can only try and request and keep our fingers crossed.

thank you for your message. Yes, it was disney.co.uk. They said I could not request anything at any point until i turned up at check in!! I just wondered if it would make any difference dealing with disney reservations in the states direct? after 11 years of wanting to return to magnolia bend i dont want to end up in alligator bayou!!

You could try booking through DreamsUnlimited (the DIS travel agent)

You book online, and get assigned your own personnal agent, who will go out of their way to get your requests etc. They also book your PSs for you

Also, as you pay in $$$ you will probably save quite alot depending on the exchange rates etc.

On top of all this, your agent will look out for any discount codes that may become available and apply them to your booking

We used disney.co.uk to book our holiday in 2002, and that was also at POR, what you need to do is as follows:-

About three - four weeks prior to arrival email WDW directly with all your details and ask them for a price of a refridgerator or something in the room, and ask if they could give you your reservation number to quote so you can quote it in any subsequent email.

Then approx 1 week before arrival fax the room controller at the resort with your reservation number giving your preferences.

This worked a treat for us and we got Magnolia Bend and was upgraded to water view at no cost.

Thank you for your replies. Will definitely be faxing as you suggested. Had an interesting evening.... i called POR reservations direct and had a great chat, in the states you can request,no guarantees of course but they were happy to receive them, very helpful chap and got a reservation number which they said they could hold until 9th may (with no commitment,will be cancelling it though). The price was very good but hubby would rather pay in pounds, then we know where we are etc.. Anyway decided to try disney uk again.This time i got a super lady (my third american voice answering the uk number, i joked and said she was probably in orlando, she was!! our uk calls are transferred, disney pays the difference to orlando!! Thought that was quite amusing!!) who i explained what i would like and how if i book it through disney in the states i may request and it seems very unfair that we cannot do the same. She was brilliant, spoke to her supervisor and is sorting it out for me with a direct email to disney reservations POR. Their computers do not have room to add anything,its like the online booking form, no extras.. Anyway a result we feel. Just a word of warning to anyone calling disney UK, my badtempered ladies were obviously on the grave yard shift as i called 9.30am GMT and its nighttime over there so try and call later on and you will hopefully get some disney magic not grumpy and grim!

I too phoned Disney UK and was surprised to discover I was through to Orlando. The CM told me there is a special UK shift that starts, their time around 3.00 am and finishes about 2.00 pm.
