Oh, no! The SNOW BIRDS are back!

By family, I mean my sister and her children. They moved there about 8 years ago, almost overnight, to care for her mother-in-law who had a stroke.

I love visiting but my husband is rather heat intolerant. Come to think of it, he's cold intolerant as well.
And I hate shorts. I've had nightmeres about having to wear shorts ALL YEAR. Shorts and flats. {{{shudders}}}

We don't seem to get the snowbirds here in the Jacksonville area, or at least not in Atlantic Beach. But then, my step-father keeps telling me that Jax isn't really FL, but Southern GA

In January I'll be here 15 years. It's pretty here. But I'm in a rut. I'm ready for a change.

Since I'm 25, this is my 25th year :) I'm a little tired of it, ready for a change myself :)

I'll be here ten years at the end of next month. After living all over the world and country, I love Florida. Now I do like to travel, but Florida will be home for awhile. Even with the snowbirds, that do drive me crazy!

Please take them all out of Florida! The food store was horrendous yesterday! Traffic is abominable!! Making a move is looking even better!

Guess where some of them spent their summer?
Up here in Maine!

Sooooo.....my grocery store is much less crowded now! :D

I'm sure you'll ship 'em back once the spring weather arrives. :(

Glad we can share.....but feel free to keep them longer if you'd like. ;)

BTW......I have a college student so I'm not trying to offend that group!!!;)

I've been in FL for 35 yrs.
I'm tired of it too. Would love to live on the west coast of the U.S.

I lived in Tallahasee for a year and it was not FL to me. I always said it was part of GA.

Party animals?? Crazy college kids??
Here where I live, it's not at all like the 1981 strip in Ft. Lauderdale when I went on spring break. Now that was crazy :earseek:

How are your grocery store check out lines? Are they like Georgia--where everyone in front of you has to have a ten minute discussion about the weather with the check out clerk? Speaking very s-l-o-w-l-y?
Actually the snow birds are behind you in line hitting your ankles with their carts.

We also considerd Phoenix and Vegas and love both places also. But a sister is moving to West Palm Beach next month, and the rest of our family lives in Ohio and Pa. so it would be a little to far from family. This way we can still go to Vegas every year for "vacation".

We are thinking of moving to Pinellas County again -- I DREAD it, it makes me sick to my stomach. I love living in PA. Also I'm not real happy with how the school system looks.

5-6 months out of the year ...............hibernating indoors 5 months out of the year.............taking twice as long to drive

You just described lower Michigan, too! I'm ready to put on my wings for Vegas or Florida anytime!!! Too bad my DH and I still have to work! :teeth:

Okay, if all of the tourists and snowbirds did not go to Florida what would left there.
Our beloved Mickey Mouse would have to close up shop and move elsewhere because, tourism is what keeps Florida going.
Can anyone tell me other than tourism and citrus growing, what type of industry, etc. makes its home in Florida?

Don't let their cuteness fool you. They are pure evil. ;)

Those little people that you are talking about. Are they the ones who drive the Lincoln Town Cars?
ROFL! Not that I've seen! Seriously...there was this little old lady that pulled out of Century Village (say no more!) and was in front of me. She was just one of the many cars without a head. I passed her at one point and saw her stretching to see over the steering wheel. At a light she passed me and I decided to stay behind her...GOOD THING! She hit a car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I shouldn't talk. Up here, God forbid you pull out coupons or a checkbook in line. If you turn around you'll see everyone rolling their eyes and making tsking noises. :teeth:
LOL! You're too funny! The only ones that do talking like that with the cashiers are the seniors for whom a trip to the grocery store is their social hour. Working people don't do it!

Congrats!! That will be a nice change. I did it backwards. Left NJ, came to FL. Now I want to go from FL to VA. LOL! But I HATE snow and cold weather. It would be so nice to live near my sister and have a change of seasons. And be closer to military and g-men since I'm "single again." My sister is dating a DEA agent! ;) I can't find that type here in this part of FL. And I put my military friend on notice that he's to find me a good, single, marriage-minded troop! ;) :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
