and now the babies are trying to find food. :( I just saw the tiny thing and I feel awful now. :(

Oh, how sad! I would feel so guilty, I'd probably wind up raising them myself :(

Quite honestly, I'm the type that couldn't hurt a fly and would only trap and release an animal or even insect. It's a rule in our house. I have no problem catching them and tossing them out the door. DH has to squish bugs behind my back b/c he gets embarrassed catching them in a dixie cup and walking them outside to release them. Now even DS yells at Daddy not to hurt the buggies. LOL

I love animals, but I have no problem getting rid of spiders, bugs or mice. normally

This sounds like the Friends episode where Phoebe was bottle feeding the baby rats!

Oh man, now we are trying to humane capture the darn thing.

Ummm, just curious what are you going to do with them if you catch them?

Good Luck!

*edited for the children.

I will find a home for it, not mine.

You were absolutely right this time jjcollins.

Lauri,
I can guess what you had originally posted - and hey, it's the circle of life - don't feel bad. :D

Ahh poor little mickey mouses!!!! Maybe you could send them to WDW!!!:earsboy:

I love rodents.....I work with them on a professional basis (okay, I do research, flame me!)....but, as much as I love mice and rats, I would NEVER pick up a wild one. Unfortunately, wild mice and rats (yes, even thos Mickeys in your own home) carry some potentially dangerous diseases. Hope that Mommy and Daddy mice already produced their replacement litter, and these were the extras. Do not try and raise them, do not touch them. Disgard them. If you feel REALLY sorry for them, put them outside in a sheltered area with plenty of food and water and leave it to "fate".

....I know, this is really hard. I agree. But we'd like to keep you around this place and NOT have you spreading something horrific like a hantavirus....and think what you could spread to poor Mickey and Minnie!

CindySteve, I've got several out, but I'm going to feel really bad when I hear it. :( :(

DH and I go through the same thing every winter. We live in a very rural area and somehow when it gets cold, they find a way in. At first we tried glue traps, DON'T. DH felt guilty for days. They just lay there and struggle until they die- which can take forever. We also don't like the older snap traps , but the new ones that are called easy-set and are encased in plastic- no mess at all. We won't do poison. Don't want to find dead mouse lying who knows where, or worse...not find it :scared:

As for the babies. I used to work at a pet store and we had mother escapes alot. We called vets and did all we could but, really their is nothing you can do to save them. You would have to feed them, then the mother usually stimulates their elimination and that is something you just cannot do and something they will die without.

Unfortunately, wild mice and rats (yes, even thos Mickeys in your own home) carry some potentially dangerous diseases.

I worked with domesticated mice, but wild are different. I was going to spend time humanely trapping at first, but did research and saw all the diseases these things carry and believe me, you want them out immediately. Scoop them up and take them outside.

Don't worry, I'm not going to keep it, or them. I feel really, really bad, but not enough to risk anyone's health.
