Tell all of the people out west about global warming-LA saw the first snowfall in 40 years, Denver has been buried, southern Texas is covered with ice. Global warming is a big scam.

Orange prices have not went up here yet-they are 8 for 2.00 on sale through today.

I'm here in central CA....

We have had over 1 billion $ in damage to our citrus crops. Not good! Avocados and strawberries are also showing some signs of freeze damage.

yup-it's only going to get worse. i have lots of orange groves around my house here in northern california and they were all lost due to the freeze. i think the projections are overall 80% of this years california crops are gone. the realy sad part is up until this freeze they were projecting phenominal quality crops because of a short cold snap in early december which was just at the right time in the growing cycle to send the sweetness/flavor way up:sad1:

I am wishing I was stocked up on my cleaners that are orange based - I wonder if it too late.....

I am afraid of what we are gonna have to pay for orange juice....

Oh man, that's harsh! I just bought some oranges last week and they were reasonably priced. I hate to see what they are going to be when I go back.

Great--my DH already complains about the price of the OJ that I really like. I hate to see what it's going to cost now.

how long until things recover - assuming a normal and noneventful season from here...

is there a yearly orange season...can oranges from other areas eventually fill the void....

:confused3

Well, considering tomatos never seemed to go back down in price after the big tomato shortage (in my area at least), I'd be surprised if oranges ever go back down to the prices we are used to. If consumers are willing to pay the inflated prices then why would they drop them back down? OK, this is me being skeptical. :teeth:

Doesn't affect me at all. I don't eat oranges (or any fruit of any kind for that matter...yup I'm weird).

I'm glad we're in the process of putting an orange tree in the back yard. I'm also growing tomotoes in a pot on the porch, although some nights I bring the pot in.
