A little background. I'm 30 and have always loved Disney. I can't help it. My parents love Disney and I was lucky enough to go several times as a kid, and several times since then. Until recently, we always went in the peak of the HOT crowded summer, drove down from MA, and stayed offsite. And I still loved every minute of it. Imagine how much I love it now that I can go any time during the year and stay onsite and fly if I want to!!! The only problem is, I married a NON Disney lover!!!:scared1:
We went once together before we got married, stayed offsite with friends in their timeshare for free, that's the ONLY way I talked him in to going. We had TONS of fun, but at the end of the week he said that's it, I'm done for 10 years. 10 YEARS??!!!! I don't think so!!
So, the compromise has been that I go with other people. I get to get my Disney fix, he gets to stay home. I went in 4/05 with my sister and best friend and had a blast. We did all the rides and shows we wanted, went out to Jellyrolls and PI, and even went to Tampa for a Red Sox game. (The Sox are as close to my heart as Disney, and he's not a baseball fan either, where did I find him??!!) I also went in 2/06 with my sister for a few days, we met up with our parents who were there for a week. That was also lots of fun, but it was over too quickly.
So, that brings us to now. I've got the itch again and am ready to start planning. DH originally said NO WAY. There are too many other new places to see. I fought back with we've been on 4 cruises and you're not a beach person, so we don't want to do another one for a while...we've been to CA (different parts) 3 times in 5 years, we did Vegas, and we can't afford Europe right now. Plus, the clock (biological) is ticking and I want one last adults only trip before (God willing) the babies start coming along. We talked and talked some more, things happened that are allowing us to afford a few more things this year than we thought, and BAM!! I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!
We're spending 4 nights in Key West, and then 6 in WDW. We're staying POR 5/6-5/12 and I need to get moving on ADRs and the like!
YAY!!

I should mention that my only trip to Disneyland was with him in 2001, but he was there for a conference and I tagged along so it doesn't count!!
LOL

Woo Hoo! That is great! Happy planning and you don't have long to wait either, May is just months away!

I was the same way with my DH. When he finally said yes to the trip we just did in December, I was floored!

Enjoy!

I called and got our ADRs today! It was surprisingly quick and painless. I got the days and times (within 10 minutes) of what we wanted. Since it's just DH and me on this trip, it's going to be relaxed and slow paced and not super planned...other than our meals. I figured I would make dinner a priority, and see where the days take us the rest of the time. I have a general idea of where I want to go everyday, but I'm not going to let it stress me out if that doesn't happen. We plan to spend time at the resort, take a break most if not all days, and spend a lot of time wandering World Showcase taking in the sights, sounds and especially the drinks!!!
Here's what it looks like so far -

5/6 - arrive around 1 - dinner ADRs at Raglan Road at 7. I think I'm going to make them earlier so we can start our trip off right and hit World Showcase. We'll be flying in from Key West so it's not like we'll be exhausted from traveling all day.

5/7 - 7PM ADRs at L'Originale Alfredo di Roma. Not sure where the rest of the day will take us.

5/8 - 6:50 ADRs at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I'm thinking we'll spend the day at Animal Kingdom and then back at POR before we head over.

5/9 - 6:55 ADRs at 50s Prime Time Cafe. This will probably be our MGM day with a break in the middle back at POR and then back to MGM for dinner and Fantasmic.

5/10 - 5:30 ADRs for 'Ohana. Not confirmed yet, we're meeting my cousin and her husband and 2 kids. They have ADRs she just needs to add us to the party. We'll probably take it easy in the morning and then head to MK for a bit, get our EMH bracelets, have dinner, and then head back from EMH.

5/11 - 7PM ADRs for Le Cellier. I was SHOCKED to be able to get the exact time we wanted here...it's a Friday night!! I think it's going to be the perfect end to our trip!! I can't wait to try it!

:yay: :yay:

Your lucky you made it in in time. At Le Cellier I mean they close for rehab a couple days later. I have an ADR there for May 12.

Good job on getting your ADR's, I just read someone's pre-trip and they said they were going to wing itfor meals. Shutter with the thought. I hope your husband enjoys the trip and doesn't turn grumpy on you-mine husband is the same way.

Already changed the Raglan Road ADR to 5:30...hopefully I get get DH to Rose and Crown for a pint or 2 that night!!

Haha! I married a Warner Bros freak and let me tell you, he is a freak. I can't imagine not loving the magic of Disney. When we talk to friends, I just blame it on his family for not taking him out in public enough when he was a child. HAHAHA

I had to beg, plead and barter for our first family vacation this past April (we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old) and we went to Disneyland. Spent 4 days. My 6 year old had a blast, but my son was a little too young. Once I got back, we were home 2 months when i was begging and pleading for more. So i have worked countless numbers of OT and this time we are headed to DW and we are leaving Feb 2nd. Staying 7 days. Taking 6 people. Little family reunion thing. And my husband has grumbled for months about it. But in the end, i think he is starting to get excited, he just won't admit it in fear of encouraging me! :)

Congrats on your trip!

That's great! :thumbsup2

My boyfriend isn't a huge Disney fan like me either :( It took me quite some work to convince him to go to Orlando :rotfl:
He has been on two Disneyland Paris trips with me before, but during our last trip he told me he didn't want to go there for at least 5 years :( He had seen enough of Disney...
I really thought I'd never get him to go in a plane and fly all across the Atlantic to Disneyworld...

But then we went to the US for our summer trip in 2006 (big round trip, some East Coast and West Coast) and he really loved the US and agreed with me on going again in 2007. First, the plan was to go to the Northwestern part of the US.

But then I let him talk to other people that went to Disneyworld in 2004 and absolutely loved it. He saw the pictures, I looked up airfares for may 2007 to Orlando(which were about half of our airfares of last july!), I talked to him a lot and all of a sudden he said: "Ok, let's go to Orlando" :lmao:

I booked the flight, rental car, hotel and Disneytickets the same day... I was too afraid he would change his mind!

And now only 4 months and 4 days to go...!!

:yay: :yay:

Just realized that on 5/10 MK has MORNING EMH, not evening. My plan to take it easy in the morning and do EMH after our dinner at 'Ohana isn't going to work!
lol

:thumbsup2 woohoo!! Don't you love when people come around to the "dis side!" I got my Dboyfriend to go with me in June, i haven't been in almost 3 years so i am REALLY looking forward to it..and even more so, looking forward to to converting him to a Disneyholic!
Oh by the way..key west is fantastic..that was our vacation spot last year..we loved it! Where are you staying? We were at the Heron House..it was awesome! what a great way to prefix Disney!! :goodvibes

That's Great! I've also talked my husband into another trip this Christmas. :woohoo: I wasn't to sure if he'd go for it but, it's settled we are going. I'm still in the process of converting him to a Disney Fan. :rotfl2:

I'm doing the happy dance.

Congratulations! My husband and I had been married for 11 1/2 years and our kids were 5 and 7 before we went for the first time. He loved it (although not as much as I did!!) and we are hoping to get back sometime this year! Hope you have a great trip!

YAY!

Just heard that there's a free park hopping and water park and fun promotion going on while we're there. We saved about $85 AND got the added water park stuff (we were already doing park hopping)!! Now I have to replan our days!

:cool1: :cool1:

How quickly things change. Got an email from the TA today informing us of the added "freebies" of park hopping and water and fun, so my planning mind is going again!

I think I'll get DH up and out the door to hit morning EMH at AK on Monday. I don't love this park so I think we'll be able to see everything we want to see here fairly early in the day. The only thing not open is FOTLK and by the time we finish everything else, a show should be coming up soon. If we do this, it will free up another day to enjoy the resort and possibly check out Disney Quest or one of the water parks.
Now that I'm looking, maybe we'll swap our L'Originale Alfredo de Roma night with our WCC night....
hmmm

So here are the changes I'm thinking of making:

I already moved our 5/6 ADR to 5:30, but I'm thinking of changing it all up again!

5/6 - arrive around 1, hopefully check-in to POR, or at least drop our bags off, dinner at WCC (not sure on a time yet), then MK for a little bit of EMH. As I said before, we're traveling to MCO from Key West, so it won't be a whole day of traveling to recover from.

5/7 - morning EMH at AK, hopefully see everything we want to see here, play mini golf, head back to POR (if we have time), and then Epcot for our 7PM ADR.

5/8 - morning EMH at Epcot, then afternoon at DTD, hopefully try DisneyQuest now that it's included in our tickets, and dinner at Raglan Road.

The rest of the days will pretty much stay the same so far, but if we get to MK EMH on Sunday, we can either sleep in on 5/10 or come back to POR midday to rest before our 'Ohana ADR with my cousin and her family.

I think this will also free up more time to enjoy the resort, maybe get to TL or BB, and also to hit PI and the Boardwalk for nightlife. It also gets us to Epcot at least three times over the week as it's our favorite park (and by "our", I mean "my", LOL)

I'll be on the phone tomorrow making the changes, wish me luck getting the new days and times!

I'm going to try to figure out how to post a pic of us one of these days (and so I can add them to my TR once I do it!
