Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

This has got to be my favorite trip report of all time :) And your pics crack me up - I usually come home with some randoms like floors (taken on purpose!) and people think that my camera must have gone off by accident. You mentioned that you don't have a fancy camera but your pics are amazing - can I ask what kind you have? We're going back in May and my camera is dying. I am no photographer and don't trust myself not to drop a fancy one right off Splash Mtn!

Oh my gosh Marissa, I've been so busy with school I havent had any time for the Dis, but I took a much needed night off and caught up on your trip report!!
It's all just too exciting I dont even know what to say besides that so far I am loving it!
I can't believe that you got to eat at Garden Grill, and for free!! Your trip was just full of that pixie dust.

Eventually summer will come and I'll have time to catch up on the tail end of your TR, but I wanted to check in and tell you how much I love reading it.
Keep em coming

So I feel like I have been reading but forgetting to comment along, sorry! I'm here now though, so... Aaaaah the Winnie the Pooh ride, love it too much :D possibly the most perfect ride they could have created for my favourite 100 Acre Wood family :) I absolutely love how you bounce along!

Pinocchio man creeps me out, is that weird? That's one odd puppet, I don't think I'd like to meet that at all!

Would you believe we didn't get time to do Philharmagic in September, I am still crying a little, I love that movie more than words :( it's on my must-do list about 100 times for Christmas!

Oh and I've tried my hardest not to look at anything new to me from New Fantasyland either! I was chosen to test Enchanted Tales with Belle when I visited but other than parts of Storybook Circus nothing else was complete! It's the same with the new Test Track, I really want to keep the suspense up so it's a completely new experience when I go!

Oh, I don't think you've been doing that! Don't worry about it girl. :) Thanks for coming back to comment though! I agree, it really is the perfect Pooh ride. Love it.

Hahhaha, he's just a random CM! I think he just looked a little awkward because he was surprised I was taking his picture.

Oh no! What a bummer. And on a super long trip too! But yes, you must do it in December!

Oh wow, so you totally have seen a lot! That's really awesome. I'm hoping that I can see it in person soon!! Awesome that you haven't been looking either. I've actually seen a lot of the new Test Track! I haven't watched a video of it or anything, but I've looked at pictures. Most of the pictures I've seen are just of the building anyway, so I feel like I'll still be surprised when I get to ride it. :thumbsup2

I'm now caught up! (Good excuse on my part, we were in WDW for 10 days until last Monday!)

You are so good to not look at photos of FLE. ;) Were you the kid that didn't try to find your Christmas presents before your parents wrapped them? :rotfl2: Such self control is admirable! ::yes:: I would agree that having not had a pre-conceived notion of what it is like will make it THAT MUCH BETTER since Disney does such an awesome job! (And obviously, now that I've seen it I can say it gets a :thumbsup2!)

As for Pooh and his hundred acre woods and friends... how do you get such awesome photos in the ride? I don't use a flash since I'm ever so polite to the other guests but I have no idea how to set a manual setting on my camera to make that work. Anyhoo... great photos!! :cutie:

I was excited when you said you saw Pinocchio! Ha, such a tease! (We saw good ole Pinoc one one time and he was passing through on his way back stage from where-ever he was hanging - darn!)

Glad to get caught up! :goodvibes

Hooray! Haha yes, that is a VERY good excuse! Are you doing a TR?

Thank you! It's been hard but I think it will be worth it! I was that kid... sometimes. ;) Ahhh yay! I really can't wait to see it all for the first time, the anticipation is crazy!!!

Wow, thanks for saying my Pooh pictures are great! Hahah! Well, on my camera I have a really cool option of 'capturing' images from videos I've taken. So I basically just recorded random parts of the ride, watched the video, paused it in spots I thought looked alright, and 'captured' them! It's really cool! It doesn't always get the best pictures, but I love being able to do it!

Aww I'm sorry! Hahah well, maybe he was one of his cousins or something! I don't think Pinocchio does meets anymore, which is really sad! Well, at least I don't think he does them at Magic Kingdom. :(

Thanks for getting caught up!

How did I miss this update? :confused3

Awww, Winnie the Pooh! <3 So sweet!!!

Phillharmagic makes me cry everytime!!!! I love it!

Oh no! :( The last few hours! That's the worst feeling ever!!

Hahah I don't know, but I'm glad you found it!

I KNOW.

Me too! It's the best!

It really is, huh? BOOOO.

Wow, your favorite TR ever, are you serious? What a wonderful compliment! It means a lot to me! Thank you SO MUCH!

Hahah yeah, like the foot/hunny pot picture? Who knows! Funny that you should say that because when my sister saw that picture I remember her saying, "Wow, this one is... great...?" :lmao:

Oh wow, thank you! Well, I had to go look because I honestly wasn't even exactly sure what kind it was! But I have a Samsung SL 202. I got it for Christmas back in 2009 so I'm not sure they would still sell the exact same camera (you know, technology and all that) but I'm sure you could find something similar! And I totally agree, even though I'm EXTREMELY careful with my stuff, having a fancy camera would just make me nervous!

Thanks again for saying such sweet things!!

Hey girl! Nice to hear from one of the Windsor Princesses again! :thumbsup2 I'm sorry you've been busy but it's so nice that you've been able to get caught up on the DIS as well!

YES, Garden Grill was amazing! It was my second favorite meal of the trip (behind 'Ohana)! And the fact that it was free was just... AMAZING.

Yay! Well thank you so much for taking the time to start getting caught up, I'm so glad you're enjoying it! :goodvibes

The One With THAT GUY!

August 3, 2012

Being the Disney nerd that I am, I knew I couldn’t leave without seeing Storybook Circus and riding the new Dumbo!

Once again, I was all proud of myself for photos that would contain BRAND NEW INFORMATION. Of course since then, everyone and their dog has seen this. Even though by this point it’s pretty much considered ‘old news’, I don’t even care. I was so excited to see it for the first time!

I love that Timothy Q. Mouse welcomes you now!

SDC13684.jpg

They still have the quintessential photo-op!

SDC13685.jpg

I was a little bit nervous that the new indoor queue for Dumbo would be insanely loud and that we, not having kids, would feel trapped in there. That wasn’t the case AT ALL. In all honesty, we were only in there for a few minutes at the most. It wasn’t too loud at all, which is really saying something considering it was a Friday afternoon in August. It was also adorable! I always thought it would be a cute idea, and seeing it in person convinced me I was right!

My pictures aren’t great, but I loved seeing Dumbo flying around the ceiling! He is just too precious. Dumbo is one of my favorite Disney characters. He’s the cutest thing ever. (It’s also possible that I have a Dumbo stuffed animal that I keep on my bed… highly possible.)

SDC13793.jpg

SDC13669.jpg

Back outside, I couldn't help but admire the new Dumbo! It looks so new and colorful!

SDC13672.jpg

SDC13673.jpg

SDC13675.jpg

SDC13677.jpg

I also adore the fact that there is water involved now. It seems to make it more festive somehow.

SDC13676.jpg

SDC13679.jpg

I got to ride with Jacob! Aren’t we lovely? Yeah, worst picture ever, but at least you get a good look at my incredible bending tongue. I'm sure it's just what you wanted to see. ALSO, Anna's photo-bombing skills are awesome... even if she didn't realize she was photo-bombing us. (Look between our heads!)

SDC13678.jpg

I was very pleased that we picked a Dumbo with such a great color scheme.

SDC13680.jpg

We had such a fun ride! I took video during it, and at one point I felt like Jacob was pushing me out (not on purpose, of course) and I had a mild freakout. Just something to look forward to if you watch my dinky little videos, hahaha.

I love this detail!

SDC13682.jpg

Can’t you just read this CM’s mind? She’s thinking, “This girl WISHES she could go inside and see New Fantasyland right now. PSHAAAAAA.”

(She's totally right, for the record.)

SDC13686.jpg

We didn’t get too close to the Casey Junior Splash ‘n’ Soak station, but I thought it looked really cute! You can see elephant trunks and giraffe necks so you know it has to be a good time. I’m sure that kids get absolutely drenched, but when you’re little, is there actually anything better than getting absolutely drenched? No!

SDC13687.jpg

I absolutely loved the parts of New Fantasyland that I was able to see! I was so impressed… and that was only the beginning! I CANNOT WAIT to see everything else!!!!

We momentarily thought about doing the Tomorrowland Speedway, but the line was too long and the gas smell was too strong. So, no. We moved on pretty quickly and headed straight into Tomorrowland!

Where did we stop? HERE!

SDC13688.jpg

SDC13689.jpg

We actually had a bit of a wait here, but it was worth it! When we were watching the pre-show, (and this is completely true, I promise!!!) I suddenly thought to myself, “I bet my dad is going to be That Guy.”

I really don’t know what made me think that, but for some reason I had a feeling.

Well, what do you know?

HE WAS. My dad was THAT GUY, yall.

He was the best That Guy EVER. Honestly, he took it so well and he was hilarious! I truly don’t even remember what else happened during the show, but I can tell you that my dad and my right arm got a lot of screen time. A good time was had by all.

Apparently we weren’t the only ones to think he was funny, because after the show, a boy (I would say he was about 12 or 13) came up to my dad and he said, “You were AWESOME!!!!” Then he proceeded to high-five him. It was adorable!

Check it out, yall. He’s official.

SDC13693.jpg

(He let me keep the sticker!)

After that excitement, we were getting a little hungry! We decided to give the Tomorrowland Terrace a try for lunch!

On the way, we caught the end of Dream Along with Mickey! Jacob was SO excited, because he absolutely loves that show. I made him a CD of the soundtrack and he listens to it all the time. He was thrilled to see it in person, even if he only got to see the end!

SDC13691.jpg

ALSO, I saw this for the first time! I honestly had never seen it before. What is it, exactly? A grass serpent? The Grassness Monster? Who can tell?

SDC13692.jpg

The restaurant wasn’t too crowded, so luckily it didn’t take very long to order and it was very easy to find a table.

I realized that I hadn’t had my staple Disney nuggets and fries yet, so of course that’s what I had to have! They’re very simple as far as Disney counter service is concerned, but I love them! I got the chocolate cake for my dessert. I had never had it before, but I was too full to eat it. I ended up having about two bites, but I will say that those two bites were very delicious! I just did NOT have the room for it.

SDC13694.jpg

While we were eating, it started POURING down the rain.

SDC13695.jpg

(Okay, so that picture isn't evidence of rain at all. It was just the next picture... so, ya know... yeah.)

I have to say though, it was absolutely perfect timing. By the time we were finished eating, the rain was finished as well!

I was glad we decided to eat at the Tomorrowland Terrace, even if I didn’t make the most original food choices. It was good food with a great view! You can’t go wrong!

SDC13696.jpg

We still had a few goals to accomplish before we had to leave Disney for good. No time to waste!

Continued in Next Update

I love Storybook circus so much, and seriously loved spending time there last time!

I love your pictures on Dumbo....it looks like you guys were having an amazing time :goodvibes

And the grass monster comment is hilarious! Sooo funny.

Even simple food always seems to taste better in Disney, and yay for the rain stopping so soon.

How cool that your dad was that guy! Now knowing that they give out those stickers I seriously need to go there with someone who is that guy sometime haha

Can't wait to hear more!

Beautiful pictures of Storybook circus. I love the way the water on Dumbo turned out - very cool!

So neat that your dad was "that guy". He looks like the perfect "that guy". One time I sat in the seat for the person that had to pick the number. I was SO nervous! :rotfl: Total stage fright!

Your Storybook Circus pictures are beautiful! I still haven't been on the new Dumbo, someday! It's such a cute little area! :woohoo:

Aww, the castle show is so cute, but we never stop to watch the whole thing! Someday I'm going to make the time to see all of the parades and shows, I feel like there is so much I'm missing out on!

Haha, I don't know what that thing in the grass is either, it's kind of like the lego thing at Downtown Disney!

Isn't Storybook Circus awesome? It was only partly open last time we were there, but I'm really excited to see the rest. The M&G looks amazing too.

Can't wait to hear what you guys did with the rest of your day.

I love your Storybook Circus photos...they're so bright and cheerful and remind me how awesome the new Dumbo is! I wonder how long we'll call it the "new" Dumbo? Prolly forever, huh?

It's great that your dad was That Guy...how fun that he got high fived...he's a bona fide Disney celebrity now! And you got the sticker! :thumbsup2

You have some really beautiful castle photos, too! Not to highjack your thread, but your "Grassness Monster" :rotfl: reminded me of my favorite photo of the castle that I've ever taken...

WDW_7_LLP2.jpg

I really enjoyed this update...great job!

Such a fun and cute update! I love the dumbo area and the ride is so fun! The fountains are such a great touch!

I love that your dad was THAT GUY! I always want to get up on the screen in a show like that!

I'm with Jacob and the castle show! Such a good time, I love it!

Great update! I'm so sad that it's coming close to an end...:scared:

Great Dumbo pictures! The waiting area wasn't completely done when we were there, so I loved seeing little Dumbo all the way up there!! Cute!

Great photo bomb! :thumbsup2

Ahhh!! OMG I love that your Dad was THAT GUY! How perfect! :goodvibes

Chicken nuggets... :cloud9:

Oh man, I also love Storybook Circus... but you won't believe that I only went over there at night! But I'm okay with that, because it's SO neat at night all lit up! Especially Dumbo, it's gorgeous with the water, I'm so with you on that. I enjoyed the photo of Anna photo-bombing you two, hahaha.

I am excited for you to see the rest of New Fantasyland!! AHH!

We have NOT done The Laugh Floor yet so whenever people talk about "That Guy" I have noooo idea what they're referring to. Perhaps our trip in September we'll do it if we're really hot and want to be inside for some AC. But yay for your dad being That Guy, because it sounds like a big deal!

Ooooh Tomorrowland Terrace! I feel like that's not open very often.. but you really can't go wrong with the chicky chicky nug nugs! They're just so good.

You guys are getting a ton done today!!

Having little ones, we really like the new queues at Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh. It's nice for them to have some moving around time along with the standing in line time.

They really did 'plus' Dumbo by adding the water. :thumbsup2

They choose a guy to 'pick on' throughout the show. Every once in a while during the middle of a joke, they will quickly pan the camera back to him and refer to 'that guy'. The guy doesn't know when it is coming, so the expressions on his face are funny. :goodvibes

The Storybook Circus area really is so fun and colorful, I loved walking around there! The details are awesome too, like the peanut on the ground!

Wait, you get a sticker for being "that guy"????? I had NO idea...that's awesome!!

"THAT IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh Phoebe.

Disney chicken nuggets and fries are my staple as well and I usually always end up eating them at the MK. Oh what I wouldn't give for that meal right now!

It's so well done! I was so excited about it because I knew if re-doing Dumbo could look so good, that the rest of Fantasyland would probably look unbelievable! AHHH.

Haha thank you! It was a fun ride. And yeah, what is with that thing? It's awesome, but random!

I think I could eat chicken tenders/nuggets and fries three or four times a week forever and be satisfied. I haven't had it in so long!! So sad.

It was so funny! UGHHH only one more update and then the wrap-up. I'm in denial.

I know! Hahha you're right, he totally does. Oh my goodness, I don't blame you! I love the Laugh Floor but I'm always slightly nervous that I'll be up on the screen!

Thank you!! I can't wait to see the rest of it, with the store and the meet and greet area! Ahhh yay.

Yeah, we just caught the tail end there! You should do that someday! It's SUCH a cute show. I love it. Parades and shows are some of my favorite parts of Disney!

Yeah! I was thinking that, too. I wonder why Disney has an obsession with serpents?

Isn't Storybook Circus awesome? It was only partly open last time we were there, but I'm really excited to see the rest. The M&G looks amazing too.

Can't wait to hear what you guys did with the rest of your day.

It is! I can't wait to see the rest either. I've heard great things!

Ugh, only a little bit left. :(

I really enjoyed this update...great job!

Thank you so much! Hahhaa, that is a GREAT question... sometimes I just call it Dumbo, but most of the time I do refer to it as "NEW' Dumbo. Too funny!

Hahha, he totally is! He took it really well, it was awesome. YES, I have the sticker on my little 'board of things.'

Don't worry, you aren't hijacking! I love that picture! SO PRETTY. :goodvibes

Thank you!!

Thank you so much! I agree, it's such a great area. Can't wait to see the rest!

It was so awesome! He took it really well. Hahah well we're opposites in that regard, because I'm always nervous that I will be!

I love it too. It's the cutest little show.

UGH, I know. Only one more update, and then the wrap-up. I'm sad.

Great Dumbo pictures! The waiting area wasn't completely done when we were there, so I loved seeing little Dumbo all the way up there!! Cute!

Great photo bomb! :thumbsup2

Ahhh!! OMG I love that your Dad was THAT GUY! How perfect! :goodvibes

Chicken nuggets... :cloud9:

Thank you! Oh, funny! I didn't realize it opened between our trips! Yeah, it was a really nice area! I was pleasantly surprised.

Hahah yeah, it almost makes me think she did it in purpose, but I know that she didn't haha.

He was the best THAT GUY ever! It was hilarious.

Omg, I want some.

Haha I believe it! I didn't get to see it at night (at least up close) so I can't wait! I bet it's gorgeous. Hahah I know, she might be a professional accidental photo-bomber. :rotfl:

AHH you must! It really is a good time. I'm betting that will happen for sure! It gets HOT! I mean, not to scare you or anything. I'm sure you already know! :thumbsup2 But yes, that would be a great idea because it would be AC PLUS an awesome attraction. Anyways, THAT GUY is basically the butt of all the jokes, and they show him on the screen at unexpected times. It's hilarious!

Yeah, I'm not even sure! It seems to always be open when I'm at Disney, so who really knows! Hahah. BUT YES. CHICKEN NUGGETS. LOVE.

We totally did get a lot done! It was so great... or as great as it can be on your last day, ya know.

:goodvibes

Totally understandable! I was a bit nervous that we'd feel like we were stuck in there since we didn't have any kids, but that wasn't the case at all. It was great.

I agree! The water is so pretty.

Hahaha, what she said! Thank you for that explanation! It was much better than mine.

The Storybook Circus area really is so fun and colorful, I loved walking around there! The details are awesome too, like the peanut on the ground!

Wait, you get a sticker for being "that guy"????? I had NO idea...that's awesome!!

I know! I loved it! It was a perfect indication of just how awesome New Fantasyland will be. (Or I guess I should say, how it IS! Hahah. I honestly keep forgetting it's open permanently now!)

Yes! You do! I'll have to take a picture of the sticker so you can see it closer up. It's really awesome!

haha, I love how you were excited to see the new Storybook Circus. That's how I felt when we saw the new Dumbo but at that point it wasn't even done! So I have yet to see the whole thing! The water is so pretty underneath. AHHH can I just go NOW?!?!

OMG, they give out a sticker for being "that guy" at the Laugh Floor? That is awesome! And that's pretty cool your dad was picked. :thumbsup2

I'm like excited to see anything and everything at Disney hahaah! All the newness was so exciting! I bet you'll love to see it completed now, it's really gorgeous! I bet it's even better now with the store and the meet and greet open!

YES. They do! It's the coolest thing. It's like their way of saying, "Thank you for being the butt of all the jokes!" :lmao:

"THAT IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh Phoebe.

Disney chicken nuggets and fries are my staple as well and I usually always end up eating them at the MK. Oh what I wouldn't give for that meal right now!

Hahaha, oh Phoebe. Ya know what's funny? I didn't even realize I had quoted her... and that just told me how much I must use that quote! Haha whoops?

Oh my goodness, yes. It's the perfect staple! You just can't go wrong. I could go for some now, too. YUM.

Ahhh Storybook Circus is so beautiful and colourful! Seriously makes me so excited to see it!

The water really does make Dumbo more festive :rotfl:

That is so awesome that your dad got to be 'that guy'! A good 'that guy' can really make the show! That is so precious that the boy high fived him after!
And good work to your arm for getting screen time! I bet it did a great job too!

Good ol Disney pourdowns... good timing with your food though!

Disney fries make my heart happy :goodvibes

Hi Marissa! Dumbo rules! I actually wished that I was a little kid and could crawl around in the play area tubes - what a great concept! I never noticed the peanut in the ground - how cool is that? ;) Now we are in on your little secret about possibly having a Dumbo on your bed. :upsidedow

How awesome that your dad was so into being "that guy"... the improv is always so great! (My DH was the "dancing guy" last trip but he wouldn't get up and dance... poor guy didn't want to impress folks too much with his talent I suppose! :rotfl:)

And yes... just started my TR late last night. Hopefully, I'll get more photos uploaded and get this thing moving along this weekend.

I'm so glad that I still get to enjoy your TR since this is so fabulous!! :flower3:

It really is amazing! I can't wait until I can see the completed version! Do you know when you'll be able to go back?

I agree! It's GORGEOUS. And wet.

It really was! I think he really enjoyed it as well! Oh my goodness, it was like my dad was a celebrity. It was the cutest thing! Oh yes, my arm has been fielding calls from agents left and right. I don't know when it will calm down. :snooty:

It was such great timing. We got lucky!

I KNOW. I miss french fries.

:flower3:

Hey! Hahaha, yes, he does! He's the most precious thing. Oh man, that would be so much fun! Dang, why didn't they make the play area adult sized? ;) HAHA yep, I guess yall know now! It's okay, I love my Dumbo. Yeah, the peanuts in the ground were such a cute touch! Imagineering thinks of EVERYTHING.

It was so awesome! I think he really enjoyed it, which is ideal haha. Well at least your husband stands up for what he believes in! (Or in this case, stays sitting down. :lmao:)

OH YAY! I'm so glad you told me or else I don't know if I would have found it! I'll be over there ASAP!

Aww, well thank you so much!
