Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

I'm a big fan of the breakfast at Crystal Palace too! In fact any breakfast with characters is fine by me. You should definitely try 1900 Park Fare and Cape May, I've done each of them twice and they are awesome too.

I totally understand the denial... I think I'm still in denial that I am not there, RIGHT NOW.

I love that walk between CR and MK. It's just like a dream come true. Like, wait, I get to walk to my favorite place, ever!?!?

I love Crystal Palace. I really do. I ate there twice, I think, but I'm kind of over the whole buffet thing. I like having my food brought to me and not fighting people for food in line. But, now I really want to eat The Puffed. Like, right now.

I'm so sorry about those rowdy kids. I'm glad that they didn't end up ruining the whole meal for your family, though.

Love an empty Magic Kingdom! And no wait for BTMRR! Sounds like a great start to a fun day!

Speaking to a fellow CP lover, I can honestly say that I don't think I would ever tire of "the puffed" and thanks for explaining that!! :upsidedow I've seen this video of making puffed french toast but never tried it... just seems wrong to try and make it myself when Disney does such a great job! :p

Oh my GOSH! Those kids...just wow! Picking on those poor characters... too bad they couldn't go ninja on those kids themselves!

I love that you matched Piglet! Although I'm a Tigger lover I do think piglet is pretty adorable! :goodvibes

Oh and I think the artwork at BLT (elevator lobbies and entrance lobby) are so enchanting. Everytime we are there I take photos of them just because they are so awesome.

It might have been your last day at WDW, but at least you were doing some pretty awesome stuff. Walking into an empty MK, eating at Crystal Palace, riding Thunder.....:goodvibes You seriously had what I'd consider a perfect morning. :rotfl2:

With the exception of the kids, of course. It's always sad when other guests put a damper on your Disney experience. Seems to happen at least once a trip, but like you said, you'll never have to see them again, which is nice. And you were able to avoid seeing them with Pooh. Ugh, I don't even wanna think about what poor Pooh endured. :rotfl:

So sad that the trip report is winding down Marissa, but looking forward to hearing about your last day in the MK!

So glad that you enjoyed your meal at the CP, but those kids sound awful. I really think some parents adopt the "we paid a lot of money for this so my kids will do what they want" philosophy. Those children will likely end up making life a living heck for a lot of folks. It's so sad.

I LOVE BTMRR. I don't care if it's not the fastest, or most exciting. It rocks.

THERE'S A BOAT, JACK!

SDC13394.jpg

Confession time.... I showed my DD this photo in your review and said "how cool, a boat prop." Em said, "mom, that's the ride." I replied, I know it's Malestrom but look at the boat sticking out of the wall. She said "that IS the ride, when you go backwards the boat looks like it is going to go outside didn't you notice the light and the fresh air at that part of the ride?" Uhhhh guess not. We had a good laugh and because of your TR the first thing I want to do is go to Norway in Epcot and just stare at a boat making an appearance in the hole in the wall!! :rotfl2: Just thought I'd share that you inspired that moment of revelation! ::yes::

haha, that's funny about only going to the MK a couple of times. That's sort of like when we were at the Boardwalk. You'd think it would be so easy for us to just walk over there for Illuminations, but we never did! It's not exactly the same, but it was fun watching it from our balcony.

Yay for getting to see the park befoe it gets crowded! I've seen other people's pictures and it must be pretty neat to see it so empty. One of these days we need to go to the Crystal Palace. I can't believe I've never been there!

I agree, Thunder Mountain is a CLASSIC! :thumbsup2

Disney denial is healthy...how would we cope with that fact that we don't LIVE at WDW without it?

LOL at photographing the floor. Most people look UP at Disney, but not our Marissa…dare to be different, girl! (In the interest of full disclosure, I, too, have been known to take pictures of pavement, tiles, rugs and other assorted things that most people walk right over.)

Swooning at the art..especially the castle (although the Donald one is very cool, too).

Walking to MK is one of the very best things about staying at the CR!

Don’t you love an empty MK? I’m always like, “MY KINGDOM, MINE, MINE, MINE!” Wait. I’m always like that…even on New Year’s Eve.

Yay, Crystal Palace! Love that place! Oh, THE PUFFED (that should be its real, actual, patented name, BTW)! So good…so much better than Tonga Toast (and I like Tonga Toast)!

How cute are you and Piglet? BFFs should always match…otherwise why even be BFFs??

OMG, poor Tigger having to deal with the demon children! Sounds like he handled it well, though…go Tigger!

Aren't early ADR's so awesome? I really need to make one for my next trip. You took a lot of beautiful pictures around the almost empty MK! Crystal Palace is a favourite of ours too, it is so pretty :) I'm sorry that you had bad experience with those other people though - I don't understand how some people can be so oblivious :confused3 We have also eaten at 1900 Park Fare and Cape May, and loved both, so you should definitely give them a try some time!

We love Crystal Palace too!! (Funny, we've always been seated on the right side of the restaurant - never the left!) Too bad about your table neighbors though!! They sound pretty awful! :scared1:

Okay, well maybe that was a little harsh... hahah nobody should be called that, I apologize. They really were terrible, though. It was unbelievable! I definitely felt terrible for the characters! I was tempted to warn Pooh and Eeyore.

In like fashion, I refined the quote to say undisciplined. ;)

Why do parents just let their kids do whatever they want. I would and never will let my DS be anything but respectful when we are out in public or at home. That is really bad. Okay enough of that :rotfl2:

Great pictures of the MK in the morning. We are planning on doing a early CP for the same reason for our trip. We did dinner there a while back and it was really good. Just like you I love a good breakfast buffet.

I love check out day denial, it's the only thing that makes it bearable.
well, that and mentally planning the next trip.

I love pictures of the park first thing in the morning, it's just so peaceful and beautiful!!

I feel like I might have been that weird kid at camp writing home about bacon...

:rotfl: I love that you call it the puffed! That is too funny!

You and piglet being all matchy is adorable!! Good work to both of you!

UGH those kids!! I feel so bad for the characters when they have to meet little angels like that!

Omg, those kids..they just sound awful! I am one to always try to remind myself that kids can be annoying, having a just-turned-5 year old, I know that from first hand experience lol! They get tired, hungry, cranky and act out. So when I see a child not on his or her best behavior and they are annoying, I try really hard not to judge the parents, because I surely have been in their shoes a time or twelve, but honestly, when kids are acting THAT bad and their parents just sit there and laugh, I judge away! What they were doing was plain invading the character's space, and even if they kids don't think it's a person inside, the parents sure know! And even if they think this is "the real Tigger," hello...don't pull his tail!

But other than that, the breakfast looks great! We have eaten at CP twice, but for dinner both times (the dinner is really good too, btw) and we have a breakfast ADR this year. Unfortunately it is not pre-park opening, because it's on our last day, and it's just too hard to be up and at 'em early enough to get ready, finish packing, sob uncontrollably during check out (everyone does that, right? No? oh..), check our luggage and then get to the park before rope drop. Sorry, not happening! We did have a BBB appointment this past year before the park opened, and they had some sort of technical difficulty which forced everyone with an early ADR to stand outside, and we were all let in late for our ADR's, along with everyone who was there just for RD. It was annoying, but I mean you are still in Disney so it was fine. Maybe I'll make another BBB appt for this year just so I can view the castle undisturbed by the masses *thinking cap*!

Your posts always entice me to write long drawn out responses that are pretty much just me thinking out loud!

Sorry I've been MIA! Since getting back from our trip I've just been so busy with random stuff. But I did read your previous update on my flight and now I'm commenting while commuting to work, hahaha.

Anyway, I'm so sad it's your last day. Don't let it end! I would be taking lots of photos on my way out, too!

Oh I love doing pre-park opening breakfast!! It's the best. And even better when it's at Crystal Palace. My love for that place is neverending.

The Puffed is amazing. Lets be honest, it shouldn't be called French toast because its more like a donut or fried puffy bread, hahaha.. But so good!

Misbehaved children drive me insane. Those kids sound ridiculous. Did Tigger's handler say anything? Ugh, I'm glad he escaped them and made it over to you guys!

I loved the Big Thunder refurb, too! If you sit in the back that one is WAY more intense than any other spot. Sometimes too intense hahaha.

Oh I am so jealous of you with Splash! But I will ride it again one day!!

So I have to tell you something. You know how you said nobody writes home about bacon? I'm nobody! :lmao:

Okay let me elaborate. Many moons ago when I was younger, I was in the United States Air Force. That journey started with military basic training which although I would never call it "camp" we can pretend that is what it is for the sake of my story. When I was in basic training, I daydreamed all day long about food and what I would eat when I was "free". I would write to my parents about what I ate in chow. (If you could call it eating. We had about 30 seconds, usually less to shovel in as much food as possible with one hand. I did get really good at it though) I even made a whole page list and mailed to them of what I would eat when I was "free". I seriously dreamed about having pop tarts, that's how pathetic it was! So I can see someone writing home about bacon. My parents kept all my letters, I'd have to read them to see if there was anything specific about bacon :rotfl2:

You made me sad all over again with your description of leaving BLT. Glad you decided to hit MK on your last day and I think CP is the perfect last day breakfast. I, too, have had multiple meals there and most of them involve breakfast. Seriously, what's not to like about having breakfast with Eeyore and the rest of the clan. So fun. Eating next to the devil children - not so much. :rotfl:

Aww! Don't be sad. I agree! It's a bit of a tradition for us! It really is such a fun restaurant and the food is fantastic... but those kids were INSANE!

How funny we did our CP breakfast posts at like the same time!

I sure do love CP breakfasts and being in the park early!!! :thumbsup2

OMG, those kids!!!!! I would have been so mad! What a sad experience for everyone else trying to enjoy their meal. I feel bad for Tigger!

Hahaha I know!

Omg yes, it's so amazing. I would love to do that again! Makes me wish Be Our Guest served breakfast so there could be some variety there! I mean I would do CRT if it wasn't so insanely expensive! :lmao:

Oh man, they were honestly terrible. Luckily, lots of the tables around them were empty, so it was basically just us that had to endure them. Don't worry though, Tigger had it under control. He was not having it! Hahah.

Check out day is always like the saddest thing ever:( , but at least you guys were still able to spend some time at the parks before u had to leave!

I can't believe after reading your last TR with how much time you spent at MK, that this was only your second visit. Although considering you had the most awesome balcony view ever, I can definitely see why you chose to watch wishes from there :goodvibes

That story from crystal palace is horrible! I can't believe parent's could just sit by and let their children behave that way. Poor tigger and poor all the other guests that had to watch their behaviour :headache:

I totally can relate to how you feel about french toast, while I love french toast I totally get the weird texture thing. I had heard from so many people how wonderful the croissant berry pudding is at sunshine seasons but when I tried I couldn't get past the rubbery, squishy texture and as such, I didn't like it at all. But I agree that the puffed is fantastic!

Yeah, that was basically the only thing keeping me going that morning! If we had just had to leave right away I would have been a mess.

Oh I know! Isn't that crazy?! The good news is we basically had all morning and afternoon there!

Yeah, it was bad. Tigger handled them well and was basically as firm as you can be in that kind of situation, but the parents were just snapping pictures! It was just crazy.

Haha ICK, french toast. I just can't do it. Ew, that doesn't sound good! 'THE PUFFED' is the best!!!

I just posted a Crystal Palace update too! I love Piglet too! I am glad you said he is a boy, I didn't know if it was a he or a she lol!

Yikes on those kids. I wish I could have seen them I think misbehaved children are funny.

Wait... you did? Did I totally miss it?! Hahah I don't know! Hahha Piglet is definitely a boy!

Oh man, they were not funny. It was insane. Like, they were wild animals and it was slightly terrifying.

I'm a big fan of the breakfast at Crystal Palace too! In fact any breakfast with characters is fine by me. You should definitely try 1900 Park Fare and Cape May, I've done each of them twice and they are awesome too.

It's so great! Yeah! I really want to try both of them! Someday I want to try breakfast at Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana too! And Tusker House! And even Cinderella's if I can ever just suck it up and use two credits! Hahaha.

I totally understand the denial... I think I'm still in denial that I am not there, RIGHT NOW.

I love that walk between CR and MK. It's just like a dream come true. Like, wait, I get to walk to my favorite place, ever!?!?

Love an empty Magic Kingdom! And no wait for BTMRR! Sounds like a great start to a fun day!

Yeah, I'm basically always in denial about it too. Hahaha.

I know! It is the best. I know I'm gonna be visiting the good ole Contemporary on every trip now, so I'm sure I'll be using that path a lot more!

I totally get what you mean. I usually don't even like buffets, but I love breakfast ones! The good thing there is that when they first open in the morning, the restaurant is never full so getting your food is a lot easier!

Yeah, they were insane. I really think they were actually insane. BUT, unless someone like... died in the middle of the meal or something, I don't think a meal there could be ruined!

It's the best thing ever! I guess it really is true that most people go to Tomorrowland in the morning! Or they used to... everyone probably goes staight to New Fantasyland, now! Haha.

Speaking to a fellow CP lover, I can honestly say that I don't think I would ever tire of "the puffed" and thanks for explaining that!! :upsidedow I've seen this video of making puffed french toast but never tried it... just seems wrong to try and make it myself when Disney does such a great job! :p

Oh and I think the artwork at BLT (elevator lobbies and entrance lobby) are so enchanting. Everytime we are there I take photos of them just because they are so awesome.

Hahah I couldn't either! It's just too delicious! Oh wow, thanks for sharing that video! I will have to see about trying it out myself sometime!

I honestly felt so bad for the characters! The kids' parents just let them do whatever to them! It was so crazy. I think in regular circumstances, Tigger might have fought them off... :rolleyes1

Hahah thank you! I just love all of those characters, but for some reason Piglet wins my heart! I just adore him!

Oh I know! Don't you wish they sold them? I honestly wouldn't mind decorating my future house in the style of Bay Lake Tower. I'm just in love with it all!

It might have been your last day at WDW, but at least you were doing some pretty awesome stuff. Walking into an empty MK, eating at Crystal Palace, riding Thunder.....:goodvibes You seriously had what I'd consider a perfect morning. :rotfl2:

Ugh, I don't even wanna think about what poor Pooh endured. :rotfl:

Oh yes! It definitely helped that we got to do some of my favorite things that morning. Otherwise it just would have been too sad!

Yeah, it was like a car wreck or something. You just couldn't look away. The weirdest part to me was that not only were the parents letting the kids run wild... the GRANDPARENTS were, as well! Oof.

It rocks.

Thank you! I'm sad too. I just want to hurry up and have some future plans! I hate to think I won't have a thread going in the near future! :(

We definitely enjoyed everything BUT those crazy kids! I really don't know what the parents were thinking. Apparently they weren't too phased by anything... scary to think what might go on in their house! :scared:

I love it, too! It's one of those rides that doesn't have to be the most thrilling, it's just good fun! :thumbsup2

Confession time.... I showed my DD this photo in your review and said "how cool, a boat prop." Em said, "mom, that's the ride." I replied, I know it's Malestrom but look at the boat sticking out of the wall. Oh my goodness... that whole thing is just too funny! Hahah I love that. Yeah, I mean, it isn't the most obvious thing in the world when you're on the ride because it's behind you! Next time you'll have to turn around and look or something! :lmao:

haha, that's funny about only going to the MK a couple of times. That's sort of like when we were at the Boardwalk. You'd think it would be so easy for us to just walk over there for Illuminations, but we never did! It's not exactly the same, but it was fun watching it from our balcony.

I agree, Thunder Mountain is a CLASSIC! :thumbsup2

Yeah, seriously! What is it about being NEARBY a park that makes you feel like you're there? It's just reallllly not the same!

Yeah, I wish I had gotten more actual pictures instead of weird looking video pictures! I'd recommend doing that sometime, it's really cool! Oh man, you must go! It's so so so good!

Yes... you have a valid point.

Hahha I do! I do dare to be different! Hahah there are a lot of pretty floors and rugs at Disney! They must be documented! :lmao:

The art there is so perfect. I just want all of it.

IT IS! It was so great! And it was perfect because since it was early, it wasn't blazing hot yet!

I DO! That was my first experience with it and I loved it!

It really should be the name!! Hahah I really don't understand the reasoning behind the 'french toast' part of the name! IT'S 'THE PUFFED.' I've never had Tonga Toast, but considering I don't like mushy banana I probably would love 'THE PUFFED' more!

Aww thanks! Haah yeah, really! What other reason would there to be BFFs with someone? I mean really.

Tigger DEFINITELY handled it well. I'm thinking if Tigger's friend hadn't been... Tigger's friend... he would have laid down the law with those crazies!

YES! Yeah, you should! They're so great. Aw thanks! Yeah, our meal was great but those kids... who knows what was happening there! I really want to! I've heard great things about both of them!

We love Crystal Palace too!! (Funny, we've always been seated on the right side of the restaurant - never the left!) Too bad about your table neighbors though!! They sound pretty awful! :scared1:

Oh weird! Hahha we must be giving off vibes that say, 'seat me in this general area.' Yep, that must be it. Oh man, they really were awful! It was insane.

In like fashion, I refined the quote to say undisciplined. ;)

Hahah thank you so much!

I really don't know! It's baffling to me. I don't have kids but if any of my future children ever did anything like that, I would be mortified. Those parents didn't even seem phased. :confused3

Thanks! Yeah, breakfast buffets are so good! I guess breakfast food seems more special to me? I don't really know, but I definitely prefer it when it comes to buffets! I'm glad yall are gonna do an early ADR too! They're so great!

I love check out day denial, it's the only thing that makes it bearable.
well, that and mentally planning the next trip.

You and piglet being all matchy is adorable!! Good work to both of you!

UGH those kids!! I feel so bad for the characters when they have to meet little angels like that!

Hahha it really is! Man, I was desperately trying to plan a trip in my head, and it was going well for a while, but it fell through. SIGH! Although it doesn't matter now, because if it had happened, it would already be over, too. HAHA.

I know! It really was so peaceful. I loved it!

Hahahah I hope you were!

Bahahah thank you! I just can't classify it as french toast!!

Thank you!! Yes, we called each other several times to be sure we were wearing the right things!

Oh I know! Tigger was not having that! I was just worried there'd be some sort of technical difficulty or something... oof!

Omg, those kids..they just sound awful! I am one to always try to remind myself that kids can be annoying, having a just-turned-5 year old, I know that from first hand experience lol! They get tired, hungry, cranky and act out. Your posts always entice me to write long drawn out responses that are pretty much just me thinking out loud!

Yeah, that's the thing. I totally get kids being over stimulated, over tired, all that kind of thing. But since this was the morning and none of those kids were actually upset, it was totally different! They were just CRAZY. And the parents weren't even phased by it. It was just... so odd. Seriously, I was so scared they were gonna pull too hard... and who knows! I'm scared to think what they did to Eeyore, especially since the whole 'Eeyore's tail falling off' is kind of a regular theme... oof!!!

The breakfast was great! Yeah, we didn't take care of everything right away, but I'll get there hah! Hahah it's okay, you just plan away! I don't mind!

I loved the Big Thunder refurb, too! If you sit in the back that one is WAY more intense than any other spot. Sometimes too intense hahaha.

Oh I am so jealous of you with Splash! But I will ride it again one day!!

YAY DANI! Hahha it's okay, I'm glad you're back though! I'm also SUPER excited for your new TR... just so ya know. ;)

Ugh, I don't want it to end! I'm trying to go as slowly as possible! Wahhhhh.

I know! I love it so much. I'm so glad we finally got to experience a practically empty Main Street. It was wonderful!

Yeah it's totally a puffed donut! At least, it's so much closer to being a donut than being french toast!

They were BEYOND ridiculous. I can't even think of another way to describe them besides YIKES. Tigger didn't really have a handler, but the CM lady we talked to about Pooh started noticing their behavior and I think she made sure the rest of the characters weren't getting mauled.

They did such a great job! I haven't ever sat in the very back before, but I totally know what you mean! One of these days I need to do that!

SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH!!!!!

So I have to tell you something. You know how you said nobody writes home about bacon? I'm nobody! :lmao:

Okay let me elaborate. Many moons ago when I was younger, I was in the United States Air Force. So I can see someone writing home about bacon. My parents kept all my letters, I'd have to read them to see if there was anything specific about bacon :rotfl2:

Hahha okay well... I stand corrected! However, in your case, it was TOTALLY acceptable! I promise! You weren't writing home to praise bacon, you were just saying you wanted it! Now if there was a kid at camp who ate some delicious bacon and wrote home about THAT, that would be the example I was talking about! Hahahah in your case, I totally get it!

I can't believe it was y'alls last day!

This is the 2nd TR I read tonight with such a wonderful review of Crystal Palace. I really have to eat there one day. I don't know why I always end up canceling our ADRs there.

Those children sound horrible at that table! Poor Tigger. I would have picked Reid up and carried him out of there. There's just no sense in that.

Yay! for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Always such a fun ride!

After getting behind for like the 1000th time, I'm all caught up again. :thumbsup2

I love your WS pictures. Even all of the torch ones. ;) I completely agree that those things just scream WS.

More balcony pics! Your view was incredible. I feel like I could just sit out there all day and be perfectly content. Who needs to go to the Magic Kingdom when you can just look down on it? Wait...

OH MY GOSH THOSE CHILDREN SOUND LIKE NIGHTMARES. I have so much respect for all the character performers. I don't know how they put up with that.
