Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

I hate leaving a Disney resort. Usually we leave at the crack of dawn so I don't really have time to look around and get nostalgic, but it's just always so hard. I just hate leaving Disney in general. I need to move there. :cloud9:

Yay Crystal Palace!!! It was my favorite breakfast buffet until Boma replaced it, but still, it's amazing! THE PUFFED!!! :cool1: I'm not even sure why they call it puffed french toast, because it tastes nothing like french toast...it kind of tastes like fried dough with sugar and syrup...YUM! I'd go there just to eat a whole plate of it!

Aww, I love your matching shirt with Piglet, you guys are totally BFF's! :upsidedow

I love BTMRR, it's so much fun even if it's not that crazy (because I LOVE my crazy roller coasters!), there's just something about it that is so perfectly Disney, and i love that!

Okay, so I had no idea trip reports to Disney could be so fun and exciting to read!! Omgosh, I LOVED reading this!! I joined DISboards and then forgot all about it, found it again, and basically read through your entire TR!!! <---- look at me using the lingo ;)

I love your jokes and how together your family seems to be, so sweet. God bless!! I will have to watch for the ending of your report!!! YAY full house + Lizzie M refs LOL So happy to have shared in your fun!

Ok first of all can we just celebrate the fact I am finally caught up on your TR :D WOOHOO! I'm sorry I've been away for so long (it was November, I just checked, I think I may need tests...) but I'm very glad to be back.

Secondly, Crystal Palace. My.favourite.place.ever. I am too in love with the breakfast food, the puffed is ah-mazing and the waffles mmmmmm. Also it includes Tigger so naturally I am in heaven. He actually proposed to me when I was there in September. It's a long distance thing but we're making it work ;)

Those kids though, urg, I feel like Disney should have some kinda eject policy where they just throw them out because clearly they don't know how to react around characters. Not cool. I hope they didn't do it to any others, I really do.

I don't want to finish this comment on a bad note, so BTMRR wooooo! :)

The Puffed. I love it. I mean, I love the puffed french toast itself as well as your nickname for it! :goodvibes Crystal Palace is so much fun. No matter what time of year, they always seem to have a HUGE bowl of strawberries which I love. :thumbsup2

Also love that you had an early ADR - there is nothing like getting to walk down Main Street with hardly another soul in sight! pixiedust:

Hi There! I was woefully behind, but I'm all caught up now!

I can't believe those kid at CP. I'm the mom of a rambunctious boy, so I understand how kids get excited, but jumping and pulling on the characters is WAY out of line. If my boys pulled a stunt like that, they'd be pulled out of the restaurant so fast their heads would spin!

I hope the rest of your day was better!

Just stopping in to tell you that I have been reading along and enjoying your TR. I plan on going back to look at your BLT photos again since that is where we are staying on our next trip.

I can't believe it was y'alls last day!

This is the 2nd TR I read tonight with such a wonderful review of Crystal Palace. I really have to eat there one day. I don't know why I always end up canceling our ADRs there.

Those children sound horrible at that table! Poor Tigger. I would have picked Reid up and carried him out of there. There's just no sense in that.

Yay! for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Always such a fun ride!

I know! :( If you notice I'm updating a lot less frequently... that is why. I don't want it to be over! Hhaha.

For some reason I thought you'd been there before. You definitely should try it someday! Maybe in December! It's really great! Definitely one of my favorites that I've been to so far!

Oh man, they really were terrible. I don't even know what was going on with them but I got the idea it was normal behavior. Scary thought!!

I agree!

After getting behind for like the 1000th time, I'm all caught up again. :thumbsup2

I love your WS pictures. Even all of the torch ones. ;) I completely agree that those things just scream WS.

More balcony pics! Your view was incredible. I feel like I could just sit out there all day and be perfectly content. Who needs to go to the Magic Kingdom when you can just look down on it? Wait...

OH MY GOSH THOSE CHILDREN SOUND LIKE NIGHTMARES. I have so much respect for all the character performers. I don't know how they put up with that.

YAY! Hahah it's okay, I admit that I'm behind on some TRs myself... which is just SO unlike me. Hahah.

I'm so glad you didn't tire of the torch pictures. Because I certainly didn't tire of taking them. Hahah. I just love those torches. I'd totally put some in my yard if I could.

Yeah... another thing I couldn't stop taking pictures of! It's like a natural reaction to seeing that view, I swear. HAHAH yeah seriously, apparently that's what I thought, too! But do not be fooled! It is incredible, but it is not the same thing!

They really were. I totally agree, you have to put up with so much as a character performer. Most of them are really great about it, but I could tell Tigger was not having it. If he could have said something, he would have! I respected that. :rotfl:

I know. Leaving anything at Disney for the last time is just rough. BOOOO.

So far it's the only breakfast buffet I've been to at Disney, but I just love it! I do really want to try 1900 Park Fare, and Cape May, and Tusker House... even Chef Mickey's breakfast! I've heard such great things about Boma but I'm a little nervous to try it. I'm picky hahah. I would totally eat only the puffed as well. Do you put syrup on it? That doesn't make it too sweet or sticky or anything? I'm a weirdo and I only put syrup on plain pancakes/waffles. Like when I go to IHOP I always get chocolate chip pancakes, and they put a little whipped cream on top and for me that's totally enough. But I don't think that's normal hahha.

Aw thanks! Yeah, we really are. He told me I should come visit him soon! I told him I was trying. Haha. (Wow. I'm cool.)

Yeah, I totally agree! It's such a great ride. HEY, speaking of which... did you hear they were developing a TV show around Big Thunder Mountain for ABC? Isn't that strange? I'm like... I know there's a story there, but enough for a TV series? We'll see. Hah.

Joining in!

Yay! Welcome, I'm so glad you're here!

Okay, so I had no idea trip reports to Disney could be so fun and exciting to read!! Omgosh, I LOVED reading this!! I joined DISboards and then forgot all about it, found it again, and basically read through your entire TR!!! <---- look at me using the lingo ;)

Aww, thank you so much! You're too sweet! I'm so glad you've been enjoying my TR so much! That's such a great thing to hear. So thank you so very much! Hhaha yes, the lingo is very important! ;)

Yeah, my immediate family is very close! Hahah yes I love my Full House and Lizzie McGuire! Those shows were basically my childhood/pre-teen years. Good times.

Again, thank you for all your sweet words and I really appreciate your comment!

Yes, let's celebrate! :woohoo: AW YEAH. Hahahha I'm so glad you're back! It has been far too long.

Oh goodness, I'm glad to hear that you and Tigger are happy despite the long distance. I've heard those types of relationships can be tricky! Hahaha. But I agree, Crystal Palace is perfect!

Hahah I WISH. That would teach 'em to behave! They were little monsters. I was scared for the characters to be perfectly honest.

BTMRR WOOO!

The Puffed. I love it. I mean, I love the puffed french toast itself as well as your nickname for it! :goodvibes Crystal Palace is so much fun. No matter what time of year, they always seem to have a HUGE bowl of strawberries which I love. :thumbsup2

Why thank you! Yes, I know! I've been in the summer and in December, and the strawberries there are always so delicious! I always have to get some.

It was so perfect! I'm so glad we finally got to do that. I just wish it was always like that! Darn the crowds. ;)

Hi There! I was woefully behind, but I'm all caught up now!

Aww don't worry about it! I know you've been busy with the new baby!

Oh gosh, I couldn't believe them either. I agree! They weren't just excited, they were like destructive. They were like little tornados. ICK. Haha I totally agree. I'd be terrified if my kids were behaving that way... they would NOT get away with it!

The kids didn't ruin our breakfast, thankfully, but they did make me nervous for the characters. Thankfully we still enjoyed our food and overall experience! But yes, the rest of the day was great! Except the 'leaving property and arriving home' part.

Just stopping in to tell you that I have been reading along and enjoying your TR. I plan on going back to look at your BLT photos again since that is where we are staying on our next trip.

I hope you know I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty! I just wanted to let you know why I didn't find your TR at first haha! I actually went searching for it... I really should start looking at the TR boards. But there are always so many!

The One With My Splash Mountain

August 3, 2012

It's a little bit past 9:00 in the morning. Magic Kingdom has recently opened. The crowds in Frontierland are virtually nonexistent. You've just had a delicious breakfast at Crystal Palace and a hee-hawin' good time on Big Thunder Mountain. Splash Mountain is a walk-on.

WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO NEXT?!?!

If you say that you would prefer going against the grain of the incoming crowd and going for a tour through the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, we can no longer be friends. I'm sorry, but it's just the way it will have to be.

HOWEVER, since I know all of yall are very intelligent people, I know what your answer is...

YOU RIDE SPLASH MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!!

:hyper:

And that is precisely what we did.

Allow me to explain something about me and my Splash, alright? Hang with me for a second. Let's talk.

For a long time when I was younger, I was a huge ride wimp. I didn't start off that way. In fact, when I was a toddler I was riding everything I was possibly tall enough for. However, somewhere along the line I must have had a bad experience on a ride or something, because I suddenly became terrified of thrill rides and roller coasters. I hated them. Eventually, when I was about 11 or 12, I got over it. (Thank God.) I still have a terrible fear of heights and I get motion sickness for no real reason, but somehow I'm still a thrill ride junkie.

(I'm going somewhere with this. I promise.)

Even when I was scared of roller coasters, I always had a love for water rides, specifically log rides. No matter what my fears were, something about those log rides just calmed them and they've always been my favorite kind of ride. To me, there is just nothing more fun than speeding down a hill and being greeted with a huge SPLASH.

Seeing as how I kind of gravitate towards log rides, the first time I ever got to ride Splash Mountain on my first Disney trip was a BIG DEAL.

Combine my love for log rides, some fantastic music, and a story from a movie I've been curious about my entire life, and you have a recipe for awesome. It took my love for plain, boring log rides, knocked it out, and created a whole new kind of love...

A SPLASH MOUNTAIN KIND OF LOVE!!!

SDC13585.jpg

Naturally, I had to pose with the sign. I was way too excited to ride again!!! (You might recognize that picture from my intro to this TR! It's not even that good of a picture, but that alone proves my love for this ride. HAHA.)

I found it necessary to take pictures of everything in sight in the queue. I didn't want to miss a thing!

SDC13589.jpg

Brer Rabbit would never go the same way as Brer Fox and Brer Bear! He's too wise for that!

SDC13590.jpg

When Mr. Bluebird isn't on Uncle Remus' shoulder, or gently lecturing Brer Rabbit, he lives in that bird house! Of course.

SDC13591.jpg

Every time I'm standing in this loading dock I feel like I'm home. (Seriously though.) I love the down home country feel... it's comforting to me!

How can you not see this sight and get excited? Your adventure is about to begin!

Plus, the SMELL.

SDC13592.jpg

LAST CHANCE TO EXIT. But why would you do that?

SDC13593.jpg

I love that little bunny leading the way! Look at his cute little bunny booty.

SDC13594.jpg

(My pictures from this ride aren't great... some of them are ones that I pulled from video on my regular camera, and I only had my camera out when I knew it wasn't in danger of getting wet! BUT HEY, I made an effort, at least!)

I love the random turtle who sets the mood before the ride even really starts! He's precious. And probably not as random as I think... I really need to see that movie! Darn the illegal-ness of it all.

I love THIS SIGHT!

SDC13595.jpg

Cliiiiimb every mountain... foooord every stream... (Right... wrong movie. Okay.)

SDC13596.jpg

I get so overjoyed whenever we reach the first bend. You hear that banjo playing and the excitement just keeps building!

SDC13597.jpg

It just makes you want to dance! (And I do. Oh yes, I totally do. I've got that good ole' country rhythm, ya know.)

SDC13765.jpg

Look at these critters! I love them! They're all so precious and carefree and HAPPINESS ABOUNDS!

SDC13766.jpg

SDC13767.jpg

SDC13768.jpg

SDC13769.jpg

SDC13771.jpg

Brer Bear sure does love 'BEARING' his behind!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

(Would ya like a cob to go with that CORNY JOKE?! BAHAHA. I'm full of 'em tonight, yall.)

SDC13772.jpg

Just when we thought Brer Rabbit might have gotten away from the fox and the bear... the vultures appear. You know, they're bad news.

"Everybody's got a laughing place. Maybe this one is yours. And wait'll you see that old Brer Rabbit. He sure ain't laughin' no more. MANIACAL LAUGH. MANIACAL LAUGH."

(Not a direct quote.)

"That Brer Rabbit, he learned his lesson alright. But I'm afraid he learned it too late!"

Oh snap.

We actually got stopped here for a few minutes! It seems like Brer Fox and Brer Bear were causing some commotion downstream... which is weird, because I was pretty sure that Brer Fox was UP stream, holding Brer Rabbit hostage. Maybe I was just temporarily confused. (Thankfully we weren't stopped for too long! Any longer and Anna would not have been a happy camper.)

SDC13774.jpg

I LOVE THAT FINAL HILL CLIMB. It is the culmination of the entire ride! It was all leading up to THIS EXACT MOMENT.

Just when you're getting nervous for Brer Rabbit, it's time to start getting nervous for yourself. After all, we really don't want to be flung into the Briar Patch. (It looks rather thorny.)

GOING DOOOOOOOWN...

and...

SPLASH!!!!!!!

You know every story needs a happy ending, and this one definitely has one.

SDC10701.jpg

Zip a dee do dah, yall.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE THIS RIDE?! Oh dear God. I just love it so much. It makes me so happy. It makes every other log ride look like... well, a log ride. Because Splash is SO MUCH MORE THAN A LOG RIDE.

I know that poor Splash has had its share of problems and breakdowns. In spite of all that, it still has my heart. I really hope the refurb (that is currently happening) will be just the thing it needs to keep it going forever!

Unfortunately, after that beautiful journey, the ride was over. We bid a fond farewell to good old Splash and headed off in search of a brand new adventure!

Continued in Next Update

Wow, that is some serious Splash love! I think in the last 4 times I've been, I only went on it once! I know, it's a classic. It doesn't make sense. My two December trips, it was too cold, and my mother-daughter October extravaganza? My mom didn't want to ride...??? I'm definitely hoping to change that the next time!

And that's a movie I want to see, too. I'm sure you could YouTube it or something?

Yay! Another update! :) I have the same love you have for Splash! It is my absolute favorite ride! I love the water smell, and the theming, and the drop, and the songs, and the view from the top! I LOVE IT ALL!!!! :yay: I cannot wait to go on our June trip so I can be reunited with my love again :) Oh yea, inn my signature is my link for my PTR if you wanna read it! :)

I LOVE Splash Mt. I really home DS will be tall enough and want to go on it when we go(he is tall for his age) But if not, DH will have to stay with him cause I need to go on this ride. It has been a long time since I was able to go on it(I was preggo last time) so this mommy cant wait. Thanks for the pictures to tide me over til September:thumbsup2

Ahh Splash. I do love that ride, however in the spirit of confessions I must admit that getting wet on rides is my absolute worst nightmare. I just hate that feeling when you've come off and nothing you can do will get you dry. It's just plain uncomfortable. So, I always wear a poncho, and actually, Splash is the only water ride I will go on when we're in Orlando. I refuse the rest!

Enough of me though, I do agree the music and the theming! It's so good! And I love the ride when it's empty like you had it, makes it much more enjoyable!

Yeah! Thanks for the update!

Thats so cool that you love splash that much...I am soooo terrified of rides! I'm a wimp...I did manage to go on Splash once, I was soo nervous...but after the ride was over I was like 'huh, that really wasnt that bad at all"...but the fear still gets to me...
so I am always envious of everyone that will go on every ride :worship:

I hate getting wet on rides (wet underwear and socks really really bug me), but Splash is a true original. It's just one that you have to do. I think Maddie's going to give it another shot this year, which means that I get to too!

Ahhh I love Splash Mountain too! :goodvibes But really though, how can anyone not love it? Such a great ride.

I hope you know I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty! I just wanted to let you know why I didn't find your TR at first haha! I actually went searching for it... I really should start looking at the TR boards. But there are always so many!

Of course not, silly. But I did want to stop by and let you know I was reading along. Let you know I was still here and loving your TR :goodvibes

I haven't been on Splash in a while, but I plan on riding our next trip. One time we got stopped right in front of the water cannon and we were SOAKED !!! Like wring our your underpants, ride on Kali River Rapids soaked. So I may have to bring a change of clothes. Or maybe not since we are staying at BLT and can just walk back over and change clothes <snap> Just like that.

I love Splash Mountain!! :lovestruc I love the music sooo much! I love everything about this ride, so much fun! I'm sad it will be closed when I'm there!
