Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

Trying to get a group of people from one place to another in Disney can feel like herding cats. I had the same character-detour thing happen in March on we were on our way to TOY STORY MANIA?!?!?! Geez, don't people understand that TSM>Piglet in the early morning? Sigh. Anyway, back to your lunch...

I loooooooove Le Cellier and reading about your meal made me a little sad that we're skipping it in October (though it is in the plans for January!).

I'm glad you got to try the pretzel bread/cheddar cheese soup combo, I don't care how hot it is outside, it's a must-eat for me. My bigger problem is I'm never hungry for a whole steak when it's hot outside, so luckily Franklin is willing to share with me when we go there. Awwwww, isn't he sweet?

Back on the Friendship Boats? Could you be heading back for a little more time in Hollywood?

Haha I wasn't mad that they were meeting Alice! I was just annoyed at myself for not even noticing that she was there. I would have loved to meet her too! We were early for our ADR so it was no biggie. :goodvibes That would have been a tough one for me because I LOVE PIGLET EVER SO MUCH!!! Although I would get the FP and then come back for Piglet because like I said, Toy Story Mania waits for no man!!!

Have you made ADRs for January yet? Don't wanna miss it!

Mmmm it was so yummy! I loved the plain pretzel bread a little more though, I'm just obsessed with soft pretzels, it's insane. There are certain things I can and cannot eat in the heat, and soup is one of the things that I just cannot have! (Hot chocolate is another. Ick! MUST BE COLD OUT!) So you totally understand since that's how you are with the filet! Hahaha Franklin's a keeper. ;)

We could be... but maybe not... hahahah. :rotfl:

Why is it that people always question where you're going at the most inopportune times? My Dad did that once in Europe, and I was all like "dude...you've been following me around the whole time, and NOW you decide that you are doubting my skills?"

Missing Alice? For shame. You had tunnelvision. You couldn't help but think about the fact that you had a reservation at Le Cellier. Whenever we get to reservation time, I'm like "move it move it move it!!!!"

You've never had your own steak?! Shame on you country girl! :rolleyes1

Gotta love the Moose. Seriously, my mom always writes it that was in her trip journals. "Had the chocolate moose for dessert". :lmao:

I cannot handle the Le Cellier is 2 table service credits for dinner. I like the restaurant, but I do not believe that it is worth 2 of my dang credits.

Hahha seriously! I have no idea why they needed the map. Silly!

I know! I love Alice and I've always wanted to meet her. I had my mind on that pretzel bread! NO TIME FOR CHARACTERS! I'm ashamed of myself.

I have now! Does that count? I'm just a really big fan of chicken.

It's so much more fun to say it like that! The spelling of actual mousse throws me off... it looks too much like mouse and no one wants that!

Your pictures in this update are really lovely. So funny that you where on such a mission to get to Canada that you walked right by Alice. :rotfl: Oops! Don't you hate when your "know it all DISness" gets in the way of your fun? Happens to me all the time (I'm thinking buses at SSR :rotfl:)

I think the filet a Le Cellier is so good and I am also a big fan of the mashed potatoes. I am normally not a huge steak fan, but the steak there is yummy. I have also had the roast beef sandwich there for lunch and its really good. Sorry your waitress was, for lack of a better word, off. :confused3

OK .. that story about the map ?? Seriously funny. I would have followed you, girl !! I know you know where it's at !!

I love that my family just follows me where ever when we are at Disney. They know I am a Disney master !! :rotfl: And DH has had some pretty brilliant moments as well. But of course, he learned from the master.

I just love LeCellier and the kids do as well. And I am super bummed that it is going to 2 credits for lunch. Because ... as much as I LOVE that place, I am just not sure the food as it stands right now is worth 2 credits. I think that will be an EPIC fail. But we will see.

We saw the movies for the first time our last trip and we LOVED them !! Those 360 degree screens are AMAZING !!

We leave tomorrow for our September trip - YAY !! But I am having surgery on my ankle when we get back - BOO !! And I can still barely walk on it so it should be an interesting trip for sure. I will be scooter mom :moped: It should make for an exciting trip report - or not. In any case, it will give me something to do while I am laid up after surgery. 3 months non weight bearing. Gonna really STINK.

Looking forward to your next update !!

I've been wanting to try Le Cellier. The filet with the risotto sounds so good! Good thing it'll be at the Canada kiosk for F&W festival because I can't see spending 2TS credits to eat there. It sounds good but not worth all that. Know what I mean? :confused3 Anywhoooo......I'm glad y'all enjoyed the lunch there. Your waitress sounds a little......strange. I'm with you....I don't expect my waitresses to be very blunt. But, like you said, at least she was nice & did her job. Can't wait to see where y'all went next!

You had never had steak? You mean filet or steak of any kind?!?!

I'm originally from WI and have family that raise cows so I've been eating steak my whole life!

I'd have stopped for Alice too lol! But then I would have not seen here because I would have just kept walking with my blinders on! I'm really hoping I pay better attention to my surroundings in October so I don't miss all the little details!

Thank you!! Oh I know! I was in the zone. WAY too far into the zone. :lmao:

It was definitely really good! I don't know, as much as I liked it, I don't really see a lot of steaks in my future. Hahha I'm hard to explain... :confused3 Yeah, the waitress was interesting for sure! It happens I guess!

Thank you!!! I'm so glad haha.

They learned their lesson after that! If I can get them to Canada, I can get them ANYWHERE. :lmao:

I totally agree. I don't think it's a good idea. It's essentially paying double for the exact same meal. So lame! Maybe they'll change it back... ?

The movies are so cool! We saw all but one. I really enjoyed them.

Wow, TODAY?!?! How exciting ahhhhhhh!!! So jealous! Aww, I'm so sorry about your ankle. Maybe the scooter won't be as bad as you think! I have no idea how those things work but I hope everything goes smoothly for you and that you have an amazing trip!

I'm sure the risotto was good too but if there are mashed potatoes involved, you best believe I'm gonna substitute that risotto right out! :lmao: Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. That's what I'm saying! They're making you pay double now for the exact same food? It's just silly.

Hahha thanks! She was definitely odd, but hey, it's fine. She was nice enough sometimes so it all worked out!

You had never had steak? You mean filet or steak of any kind?!?!

I'd have stopped for Alice too lol! But then I would have not seen here because I would have just kept walking with my blinders on! I'm really hoping I pay better attention to my surroundings in October so I don't miss all the little details!

Nope! Well, I'd had small bites of other people's steaks, but never my own. So serious!

See, I'm usually so good at spotting all the details and that's why I was so confused that I completely missed Alice! I guess I was thinking, "MUST FOCUS ON CANADA!!!!!!" Hahha but I'm glad they got to meet her because she was so cute! Next time I will be on the lookout!

So glad you guys made it to Le Cellier before it became 2 TS credits. I've eaten there, and its been good, but not 2 TS good. I'd rather go to Yachtsman for 2TS credits!

I can't believe your family didn't trust your inner WDW GPS, shame on them! :rotfl: Well, at least they got distracted for a good reason, Alice is always a fun character!

I don't want Soarin' to change, but it's so popular that a similar ride would be awesome! And yes. You totally should. Make it happen. ;)

I was sad too! Silly me. Awww that is the cutest story! I love it. She is really precious!

Yeah, I'm glad we got to go when it was still 1-credit, and I agree, it is a little overhyped. We enjoyed it, a lot. But not enough to want to basically pay double for it again, you know? Now if they could serve that pretzel bread in more places, I'd be very happy. :rotfl:

I don't want Soarin' to change. I think the people who do are the ones who also think their entire vacations are ruined if they get Halloween napkins on November 1st. Or whatever. It's always something for those people! But there is so much they could do where it's the same concept as Soarin' but different themes and magical things!

Mmmm pretzel bread. Have you seen that it's catching on so much they are now making pretzel bread "lean pockets"? I haven't tried them, but it looks like that bread is getting more popular! So maybe you will be able to find it in more places! They do have it at Biergarten! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you had this update. We are eating lunch there in Nov and we're never eaten there before either.
I do enjoy a nice steak, and I have heard so much about the soup that I feel like I MUST have it.
I've also heard a lot of reviews were people thought the food was very salty. Did you think that?

I'm glad it will still be a one credit when we go. I've only ever spent 2 credits on CRT, and well that was necessary.:thumbsup2

Catching up on two updates... what a bummer that your TSM gun was broken. Why'd the one person who loves the attraction get the malfuntioned shooter?:confused3 Oh well, it sounds like you still had a blast! When I was reading your description of it and came to the "Toy Story characters cheering me on," all I could think was, "YES!" That is one of the best parts.

I've never been on the Friendship boat before, but I imagine getting to look at all the Epcot resorts must be nice. Alex has told me that one day we're staying at the Beach Club, because he just has to have that short walk to the International gateway...it's a must. :rotfl2:

My 2 top deluxe resorts would be the Poly (big surprise from me, there:rotfl:) and AKL. I know AKl is way out in the boonies, but I'm an animal lover and the thought of waking up every morning with giraffes outside my balcony seems awesome.

Sorry your Le Cellier lunch wasn't all that and a bag of chips. At least the pretzel bread was yummy and you got to experience the restaurant before it became a 2 credit place. I have never eaten there before, and I doubt I will now that it's 2 TS credits. Too rich for my blood. :lmao:
I can see, though, how if you're not a steak person the filet wouldn't blow you away. I tried to get my younger brother to eat a filet once, and he's not a huge beef eater and he didn't enjoy it. But, now you know! :goodvibes

(Ps-I am aware that this is probably the longest reply ever, and I apologize for that.)

Whew - all caught up! I've been MIA lately because my job has been craaaaazzzyyy! Don't they realize I can't spend ALL day doing work stuff?!?! :rotfl:

Anyway, I enjoyed all the updates I've missed lately! I kinda can't believe I read something right though - You've NEVER ordered a steak as your meal at a restaurant?! Are you not much of a meat-eater? I'm totally with you though on the pretzel bread! I do the completely predictable pretzel bread/cheese soup/mushroom filet combo too - it's just too amazing. Although, I'm in love with risotto so I stick with that. Risotto is one of those things that if I see it on a menu, you can bet your paycheck that that will be what I order, regardless of what else it includes. Okay, I've talked about Le Cellier enough...can you tell it's my favorite? :lmao:

So, to fulfill your curiosity, my two deluxe resorts are:
1) The Grand Floridian (preferably club level so that I can stay in the main building). You did say money wasn't part of this equation, because I'm not sure this will ever happen with my money. Unless I win the lottery. In which case, I may take up permanent residence! I just think the resort is absolutely gorgeous. And the tie to Full House doesn't hurt! :) (Loved that section of your report!)
2) Hmmmm...this is hard. We've stayed in the garden wing of The Contemporary and loved it. Of course, we'd rather stay in a MK view, tower room, but could never justify it financially. I'd also love to stay at Beach Club one day, mainly because of its proximity to Epcot. I honestly don't think I can narrow it down any further than that! So I'd have to say it's a tie between those two. What can I say? I'm a rule-breaker!

I'll try to stay on top of my TR followings from here on out! Keep 'em coming!

Thank you! Me too. I totally agree! It's such a shame. Yeah, if I ever go to a 2-credit place, it'll be California Grill or Cinderella's long before it'll be Le Cellier!

Hahah I know right? They learned their lesson (and I learned mine... I missed a character because I needed to be right!) Silly us. :rotfl:

I don't want Soarin' to change. I think the people who do are the ones who also think their entire vacations are ruined if they get Halloween napkins on November 1st. Or whatever. It's always something for those people! But there is so much they could do where it's the same concept as Soarin' but different themes and magical things!

HAHHAHA I totally agree girl. Yeah, people who complain about the little specks on the screen or whatever? Good grief... it's going to happen regardless of what the movie is! I totally agree! I figured that's what you were saying. :lmao:

No I have not! Oh my goodness. MIGHT have to try those out! OH! You know, thank you for reminding me of that! I ALWAYS forget about Biergarten for some reason! :confused3

I'm glad you had this update. We are eating lunch there in Nov and we're never eaten there before either.

I'm glad it will still be a one credit when we go. I've only ever spent 2 credits on CRT, and well that was necessary.:thumbsup2

Oh yay! I hope you enjoy it!!!

I bet you'll really enjoy it then. Honestly, I don't think so. I mean, I feel like I've heard that about the risotto, but I had the mashed potatoes. So, I don't know! Hopefully you won't think it's too salty.

Exactly! CRT is necessary, and I'll definitely go someday, 2 credits or not! (Same with California Grill!) However, now that I've been... I can't justify paying double to get the same food. :sad2:

When I was reading your description of it and came to the "Toy Story characters cheering me on," all I could think was, "YES!" That is one of the best parts.

Hooray! Haha I know, right? Thankfully I got to ride again later in the trip and got a perfect gun. :thumbsup2 IT IS!!!! ACK I just love that ride so very much. Goodness!

I've never been on the Friendship boat before, but I imagine getting to look at all the Epcot resorts must be nice. Alex has told me that one day we're staying at the Beach Club, because he just has to have that short walk to the International gateway...it's a must. :rotfl2:

It is nice! I know a lot of people complain about the boats but I personally LOVE them. I would be excited to take the boats to DHS if I stayed there. So fun! Ooh I hope you get to! Beach Club is amaaaaazing!

My 2 top deluxe resorts would be the Poly (big surprise from me, there:rotfl:) and AKL. I know AKl is way out in the boonies, but I'm an animal lover and the thought of waking up every morning with giraffes outside my balcony seems awesome.

Hahha oh yes, I'm shocked. (;)) AHH YAY MORE AKL LOVE! I mean, yeah, it's further out, but I'm used to that after staying at the All Stars! And I'm a huge Animal Kingdom fan so it's cool that it's right next to that! I totally agree, the way I feel about AKL is first of all, HELLO, ANIMALS. Second of all, where do you get that kind of experience, anywhere, ever, at all? NO WHERE ELSE! Unless you were in like the African Savannah in a tent or something and that would be quite unsafe... And third, it is GORGEOUS. It's definitely at the tippy-top of my list!

:lmao:

That's alright! We definitely enjoyed it, but yeah, it wasn't our favorite my any means. Exactly! That's what I'm happy about. And that pretzel bread was absolutely perfect so that alone was worth the hype for me! :rotfl:
Yeah, I like the occasional burger, but overall I don't eat a lot of beef. You brother and I can definitely relate. Hahha.

(Ps-I am aware that this is probably the longest reply ever, and I apologize for that.)

Ahh don't apologize! I don't mind at all. :thumbsup2

Whew - all caught up! I've been MIA lately because my job has been craaaaazzzyyy! Don't they realize I can't spend ALL day doing work stuff?!?! :rotfl:

OH YAY!!! I'm so glad you're back!!!

Okay, I've talked about Le Cellier enough...can you tell it's my favorite? :lmao:

Thank you so much! I'm so glad. Hahah, I promise, it's true! Well, I do enjoy meat, but I generally will eat chicken. I can go years without eating beef if I have to. Except, I HAVE to have beef in my Mexican food because I don't like the shredded chicken they usually have at places hahaha.

OH THAT PRETZEL BREAD!!!! I wish they sold that at a counter service Canadian place. OH, that's a genius idea... why don't they have a counter service Canadian place?!?!

So, to fulfill your curiosity, my two deluxe resorts are:
1) The Grand Floridian (preferably club level so that I can stay in the main building). You did say money wasn't part of this equation, because I'm not sure this will ever happen with my money. Oh, totally. If money wasn't an issue was what my question was based on! I'm totally with you there-I wish the main building wasn't just Club Level because that would obviously be my first choice! I just can't see myself ever paying for Club Level.

Yeah, I agree. I'd love to stay at either of those places as well! Don't even worry about it, I'm not sure why I said two anyway. I'm a random individual.

I'll try to stay on top of my TR followings from here on out! Keep 'em coming!

I hope you're able to do so! And I totally will-be on the lookout for an update tomorrow!

SUBBING! Spent the entire afternoon getting caught up on your TR - I LOVE it! What a gorgeous room you guys got - it looks so bright and colorful, and that view! :hyper: I love that magical voice in the BLT elevator too...all Disney elevators should have that, like the monorail voice, only an elevator voice! ;)

I can't believe the people in your section didn't wave their napkins at Chef Mickey's! :confused3 Party poopers! For years my family always had our first meal of the trip there, it's so festive!

Can't wait to hear more about the cupcakes...I adore Disney cupcakes. :thumbsup2 Also loved your sunset photos at the MK...that's the prettiest time to be there, just when night is falling! I'm also sad that MM&Y is ending :(...that theme song was the best!

(Snow White was there too, because the princesses go with you wherever you need them in the television world of Disney.)

Add me to the list of people who loved your Full House reference and also THIS IS SO TRUE. Also in the television world of Disney, Minnie and Mickey are always waiting to meet you with no line on that pretty grassy area in front of the castle. Why doesn't real world Disney work the same way?? :scratchin

Also loved "Coulda had a fastpass." So much better than "coulda had a V8" - LOL.

Ok, I'd better stop commenting on things I loved or this will go on forever! ;) Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

The pretzel bread dipped in cheddar cheese soup is soooo good! I love steak, Sorry it didn't hit the spot for you.

The gardens in Canada are always beautifully kept. So pretty!

Yum Le Cellier looks yummy!! I am sad that it is going to 2 credits. I wanted to eat there next time but now I don't know if I want to use 2 credits. That pretzel bread looks yummy!! I can't believe you'd never had a steak before. I am not a huge steak person and rarely order them at restaurants, but yours looks yummy. Can't wait to see where you are going next!

Hey girl just wanted to comment really quick on your latest update before we leave!

Mmmm Le Cellier looks yummy...too bad it's going to being a 2 credit meal as I'm not sure when I will ever take the time to eat there.

It looks like the weather was gorgeous this day, although it's too bad you missed out on meeting the characters, but that's just one more thing you have to do next time!

I'm loving following along on your TR and can't wait to catch up when we get back!

Hello! Oh my goodness, it's such a coincidence that you happened to comment on my TR yesterday, because I randomly started reading through your old TRs... yesterday. And now that I noticed you started a new one, you know I'll be there ASAP!

ANYWAYS, I'm SO excited to have you here! Thank you! Oh gosh, that room. I honestly don't know if any other hotel room I ever stay in will top it... ever. It was phenomenal! I seriously just wanted to move in. And I completely agree about the elevator voice. That would be perfect. Ahhhhh. I randomly see the number 11 now and all I can hear is, "ELEVENTH FLOOR." I miss it so!!!

I can't believe the people in your section didn't wave their napkins at Chef Mickey's! :confused3 Party poopers! For years my family always had our first meal of the trip there, it's so festive!

Oh, I know!!! I have no clue what they were thinking. They seemed confused, but I'm like... when a Disney announcer voice tells you to twirl your napkin, YOU DO IT. That's a perfect place for the first meal of the trip! It definitely started out the trip right.

Can't wait to hear more about the cupcakes...I adore Disney cupcakes. :thumbsup2 Also loved your sunset photos at the MK...that's the prettiest time to be there, just when night is falling! I'm also sad that MM&Y is ending :(...that theme song was the best!

Oh I know it girl! I randomly found your blog while searching online about (what else but) Disney cupcakes, and I basically read all the cupcake Mondays in one sitting. I loved it! I'll actually be talking about the best cupcake ever in my next update... so get excited. ;)

Ugh, yes. It really bums me out. The fact that they're changing the song is basically the only reason I'm sad! I adore that song, it never fails to make me just bawl like a baby.

Hahha, you have been added. Thank you! It's so true! I want my photo there next time. They owe us photos!

Also loved "Coulda had a fastpass." So much better than "coulda had a V8" - LOL.

THANK YOU! Honestly, I think you're the first person that actually got that reference. So... thank you! Hahah.

Ok, I'd better stop commenting on things I loved or this will go on forever! ;) Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

Aww, thank you so much girl! You're too sweet. I'm so glad you're here, thank you so much for commenting! I hope you continue to enjoy it. :goodvibes

The pretzel bread dipped in cheddar cheese soup is soooo good! I love steak, Sorry it didn't hit the spot for you.

The gardens in Canada are always beautifully kept. So pretty!

Isn't it? Yum! Aw, that's okay! I did like it, but I don't know... I just am not a steak person, as it turns out! It's a little confusing, I know.

SO beautiful! It's one of my favorite pavilions because of that!

Yum Le Cellier looks yummy!! I am sad that it is going to 2 credits. I wanted to eat there next time but now I don't know if I want to use 2 credits. That pretzel bread looks yummy!! It was! Ugh, I know. It's definitely a bummer. I don't think we'll be heading back any time soon. Oh gosh, the bread was amazing! I could have just eaten that for my meal and been completely satisfied! (Seriously.) Hahah I know, I'm an oddball. It was good! I just don't see myself wanting to get steak again... I don't know! :rotfl:

OH MY GOSH!!!!! Are you seriously leaving like right now???? That's amazing! Well, you probably won't be seeing this until after you get back, but if you happen to see it before you leave: HAVE AN AMAZING TRIP!!!! Eat that food, ride those rides, meet those characters, and remember to practice the NO SHAME method!!! :hyper:

Ahem...

It was really good! Yeah, I totally agree. I'm glad we got the chance to visit before they change it over to signature, because I really can't see us going back any time soon because of it! It's a bummer for sure.

It was!! Well, it was for most of the day, at least! Oh I know! I can't believe I missed Alice. I'm silly. Hahaha I'll definitely have to meet her on my next trip because she's just so precious!

Aww thank you so much! You're so sweet. I really do hope you have an amazing trip and I hope maybe reading the TR will ease the PDD a little bit. :goodvibes
