Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

Aww, thank you so much girl! You're too sweet. I'm so glad you're here, thank you so much for commenting! I hope you continue to enjoy it. :goodvibes

Isn't it? Yum! Aw, that's okay! I did like it, but I don't know... I just am not a steak person, as it turns out! It's a little confusing, I know.

SO beautiful! It's one of my favorite pavilions because of that!

It was! Ugh, I know. It's definitely a bummer. I don't think we'll be heading back any time soon. Oh gosh, the bread was amazing! I could have just eaten that for my meal and been completely satisfied! (Seriously.) Hahah I know, I'm an oddball. It was good! I just don't see myself wanting to get steak again... I don't know! :rotfl:

OH MY GOSH!!!!! Are you seriously leaving like right now???? That's amazing! Well, you probably won't be seeing this until after you get back, but if you happen to see it before you leave: HAVE AN AMAZING TRIP!!!! Eat that food, ride those rides, meet those characters, and remember to practice the NO SHAME method!!! :hyper:

Ahem...

It was really good! Yeah, I totally agree. I'm glad we got the chance to visit before they change it over to signature, because I really can't see us going back any time soon because of it! It's a bummer for sure.

It was!! Well, it was for most of the day, at least! Oh I know! I can't believe I missed Alice. I'm silly. Hahaha I'll definitely have to meet her on my next trip because she's just so precious!

Aww thank you so much! You're so sweet. I really do hope you have an amazing trip and I hope maybe reading the TR will ease the PDD a little bit. :goodvibes

Thanks so much!!! We actually leave in the morning tomorrow......my ticker was a day off lol but this will most definitely be my last visit on here before we leave! Although I might check in from time to time while were gone since the resorts now have free wi fi.

:cool1:

I loveeee your Canada pictures!! It's such a gorgeous pavilion! (Hahaha no bias here! (; )

And pretzels!! The ones at Le Cellier are delicious! They really should add them to the booth at the Food and Wine Festival! Side note: I am obsessed with soft pretzels and will seriously order them whenever I see them on the menu!!

Anywayyyy can't wait for more!!

Just found your TR. I know I'm slow!!! I read your last one too but never posted:confused3 I'm still a little shy on here. But i just wanted to say Hi, and I hope my kids keep their love for all things Disney until they are much older than you!!!(you young adult Disney lovers give me hope for the future:-) !!)

Hey girl! Hahha nice to see you commenting again! (I hope you didn't feel like you had to... but I'm so glad you did!) Thank you though! I love the Canada pavilion too. It's so beautiful.

ACK ME TOO. They really are! I agree, they should. I'm so obsessed with them as well! Since we were talking about Target on twitter, I have to fill you in. At Target they have AMAZING soft pretzels! I know that's ridiculously random, but sometimes if it's around lunch time and I'm at Target, I'll get one. And they're a really good price too! Yeah, I'm obsessed... haha, you understand. :goodvibes

Welcome!!! Don't even worry about it, you're not too slow. That's okay! Aww, I understand, believe me. You don't have to feel shy on this TR though!

Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it! And I think that's so sweet! I hope they do too! I hope my future kids are Disney freaks as well. :goodvibes

The One Before the Cupcake

July 30, 2012

Anna and my mom decided they wanted to take the monorail back to the resort after lunch, so it was just me and the boys! We didn’t really have a game plan, but Jacob really had a lot of fun on the boat, and I love the boat as well. We figured, if nothing else, we could get another look at those beautiful Epcot resorts! That is ALWAYS okay with me!

So the boys and I headed back to the boat!

SDC12950.jpg

I love the International Gateway area!

SDC12952.jpg

SDC12951.jpg

While we were on the boat, the non-captain (whatever you call the guy that doesn’t drive the boat but does the announcements/rope thing) gave Jacob a couple of stickers and a little ‘license’ to drive the boat! It was precious.

SDC12953.jpg

When we arrived back at the entrance of Hollywood Studios, we weren’t really sure what to do.

Well, the crowds pouring into the park made our decision for us. We’d gotten some stuff done that morning and the major attractions would have some major waits at that point. Plus, we were feeling a bit sluggish after that big lunch.

We decided to just catch a bus back to our beloved Bay Lake Tower.

In case you were curious, the bus stop for the Contemporary, Polynesian, AND Grand Floridian was number 11. (YAY TIDBITS!)

We watched as busses for basically every other resort on property came and went. Finally ours came and we made it back in no time! The walk back to BLT from the bus stop is literally NOTHING. You walk down the sidewalk and into the building. That’s it! It’s beautiful.

When we got back to our door, my mom it opened for us. She was waiting for us to come. She said she’d called us but we didn’t hear the phones. (Oops.) It turns out, when she and Anna had arrived back at the room, their keys weren’t working! So as soon as we got back, she took all of our keys down and told them they weren’t working again.

After a while, a CM brought the keys back in working order. (KEEP THIS IN MIND, OKAY?!) They were definitely still working out the kinks of the new system, but luckily we didn’t have any more problems with them for the rest of our trip!

We didn’t really have a game plan for the evening. I wanted to take the time to enjoy that beautiful resort, so I didn’t feel the need to go rushing off to another park.

While we were trying to decide what to do, it started pouring! It only lasted for about 20 minutes at the most.

You know I had to take more pictures of that view! I know, these pictures all basically look the same, but really. How could you ever get tired of that? I could never!

SDC12954.jpg

(FIND THE MONORAIL! That monorail was stopped there for like a half an hour at least! We thought maybe that's where the monorails go to take naps or something. HAHA.) Ahh, the beauty! It’s even beautiful on a cloudy day.

SDC12955.jpg

We basically just hung around our villa for a few hours. I normally would be itching to get to a park, but in a room that beautiful, I didn’t even mind. Plus, I got to watch multiple STACEY loops with no complaints from others!

I also saw THIS.

SDC12963.jpg

I KNOW.

While I was alternating between Stacey and staring at the castle and monorail, my mom yelled for me to come into the master bedroom. She was on the balcony and she had spotted…

A DEER!

SDC12956.jpg

Let’s get closer, shall we?

SDC12957.jpg

BAMBI CAME HOME.

When you’re on Space Mountain, do you EVER think about that fact that there are woods nearby, with deer and other such creatures living there? It blows my mind. I have no idea why, because I live in front of woods and see deer and random animals ALL the time. It just seems so different at Disney. I don’t know why.

Then I saw THIS BOAT. It was coming from a random area… maybe that’s where they do boat repairs? I have no clue.

SDC12961.jpg

Look. SPLASH again!

SDC12962.jpg

Eventually we decided to go get something to eat at the Contempo Café!

We ordered and I grabbed us a table. It ended up being the exact same table we ate lunch at the day before!

Look at all those people waiting to get into Chef Mickey’s!

SDC12975.jpg

Jacob was excited for more food. The boy loves to eat!

SDC12976.jpg

Then the rest of the family came over and said they found another table that was an actual table. So we moved there! And I got bored waiting for people and took more pictures.

The drink area at Contempo. WOOT.

SDC12977.jpg

A LAMP.

SDC12980.jpg

The rest of my family split quick service meals. I don’t even know what they ate. I was way too focused on what I was eating.

The One With THE CUPCAKE

July 30, 2012

Were you wondering what said food item was?!?!?!

You know you were.

I was eating…

THE BEST CUPCAKE KNOWN TO MANKIND!!!!!!!

I knew all along that I HAD to try a cupcake from the Contempo at some point. They all looked delicious! They had Red Velvet, Strawberry Lemonade, and… CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CUP.

Now listen. I am basically a chocolate and peanut butter FANATIC. I think it is the best and most GENIUS combination to grace the planet.

I’ve always loved it. My favorite candies are Reese’s cups and peanut butter M&M’s. That shouldn’t come as a shock.

“Hey, you got peanut butter on my chocolate!”

“You got chocolate in my peanut butter!”

BUT NO ONE IS MAD!!!!

Yeah, I’m a bit of a nut. It’s okay though. So basically, when I saw that cupcake, you’d best believe that’s what I was getting.

I’d never heard of anyone having one before. I took it upon myself to see what it was all about. (Yeah… all in the name of research. You’re welcome.)

SDC12966.jpg

SDC12967.jpg

SDC12974.jpg

SDC12968.jpg

I cut it in half, and I made sure to get a fork-full of ALL THE LAYERS (and thankfully there was no MEAT in this dessert… Friends reference, oh yeah.)

SDC12978.jpg

I took a bite.

Then the Heavens shined upon me and I sang a song of joy.

No, really. I started singing. (You can’t make this stuff up.)

Listen, yall. THAT CUPCAKE IS GOD’S SECOND GREATEST GIFT TO MANKIND. OH MY WOW. I mean, just, WOW. It was absolutely delicious.

Let’s talk about it. The cake part was a delicious, moist devil’s food cake. It was amazing itself. The filling was basically what you would find inside of a Reese’s cup. It was heavy but wonderful. And the icing. OH THE ICING! It was a light milk chocolate icing that was the most perfect icing I’d ever tasted. It wasn’t too light (like whipped cream icing, I can’t stand that) and it wasn’t too heavy. It balanced out the heavier filling and it MADE the cupcake. Top if all off with an ACTUAL Reese’s cup, and I was a very happy girl.

I was actually a little ANGRY that it had taken me 23 years and 9 months to taste one for the first time.

All I’m saying is, if you have never had one before, you must.

Okay… I don’t know if you realize just how important this is… how can I make this clear?

…

HOP A FLIGHT TO DISNEY RIGHT NOW AND GO GET A CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CUP CUPCAKE AT THE CONTEMPO CAFE!!! DO YOU HEAR ME? GO NOW!!!! DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 100 DOLLARS (unless that’s how much it would cost for the flight), AND GET YOUR HINEY MOVING TOWARDS THE MONORAIL, STAT! THIS IS NOT A DRILL, SOLDIER.

So, I don’t know if you can tell, but I enjoyed that cupcake.

Seriously, why don’t I have one right now? Life’s not fair. I sincerely hope that this cupcake is permanent. I know that they switch out the cupcakes at the Contempo fairly often, but if it isn’t there the next time I go to Disney, I will be extremely upset. Anyways…

Everyone else got sandwiches or something, I don’t even know to be honest. I was in cupcake Heaven and I basically ignored everything else (except for the monorail).

I DO know, however, what my mom and brother split for dessert! They got the Red Velvet cupcake!

SDC12970.jpg

SDC12973.jpg

I had a bite (and in return, gave up a bite of my own) and it was delicious as well! Basically, the cupcakes at the Contempo Café WIN THE PRIZE!!!

SDC12979.jpg

We gobbled those things right up.

After we were forced to return to reality after being in Cupcake Heaven, we had to figure out what to do next! We headed back to the room, and I took a picture of the Garden Wing. I have no clue why, but I’m going with the fact that the sky was pretty.

SDC12981.jpg

The rain had stopped, so it was decided that my dad, Anna, and Jacob would head back to DHS to see Fantasmic. (They ended up being a little too late for the first show-it was standing room only. So they just hung out and watched Mulch, Sweat, and Shears and went to the 10:30 show. It was late for Jacob but worth it because Fantasmic is basically his favorite thing in the world. I on the other hand was totally fine with the fact that I would not be seeing it this trip. I need a Fantasmic break for a while. I’ll see it again in a couple years.) I don’t have any pictures from their time there, but that’s pretty much all they did!

My mom and I decided to stay in the room. I wanted to spend as much time in there as possible. I think it’s necessary to really take the time to enjoy your resort at Disney. Plus, since I needed a Fantasmic break, and also knew I’d be going back to DHS very soon, I was totally fine with it.

We just hung out and talked, and at 9:00 we went to see if we could find IllumiNations fireworks, but really didn’t know where to look. Oh well!

So instead, we headed back to the room and went out to my balcony!

It was SUCH a gorgeous night!

We watched The Magic, the Memories, and You from there. We could actually HEAR the music AND the audience reactions from the park! It was such a perfect and wonderful experience. I was SO happy in that moment. I just cried and cried because that show is very emotional to begin with, but I was still so overwhelmed with how blessed we were to be in that beautiful villa, able to see it without being in a crowd of people, that I just couldn’t take it. It was amazing!!!! Talk about Heaven for this Disney freak.

AND THEN… we watched WISHES!!! Oh man. It was a continuation of Heaven, basically. The fireworks were breath taking! It’s crazy, because most of the fireworks are shot off from the middle of nowhere! Some of them actually are shot off from right behind the castle, as they appear. The rest of them are from very far away. From our angle, it looked like they were coming from the middle of the woods! It was insane. We could hear the music from this show as well, and we heard everyone cheer when Tinkerbell came flying! It was amazing!

That night I filmed a lot of footage from the shows, but I didn’t take any pics, so these are all from my mom’s camera! (Her zoom was acting funky, but they still turned out pretty well!)

IMG_3318.jpg

IMG_3325.jpg

IMG_3326.jpg

(These will not be the only pictures you'll see of Wishes from our balcony! We couldn’t get enough. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself.)

After the shows, we stayed out on the balcony for a while and just enjoyed listening to the sounds of the Magic Kingdom and staring at the castle!

We could hear so much from up there: the monorail, the train, and get this… even the Tomorrowland area music!!!! Ahhhh my life will never be the same.

We stayed out there for a really long time, just enjoying the view and each other’s company! It felt like we were breaking the rules almost! Everyone else was leaving the park but we practically felt like we were there ourselves! It was the most amazing thing.

After a while, we got cleaned up and ready for bed. Around 11:30 or so, everyone else came back and shared their Fantasmic experiences with us. It had been a great day! I went to sleep extremely happy. I couldn’t wait to get up and have another perfect Disney day!

I think that cupcake has my name on it somewhere!! Sounds so up my alley! Reese's PB cups are my favorite! I even make myself pb chocolate protein shakes!

Must add to my list of snacks I must find!

OMG I NEED THAT CUPCAKE!!

I had not planned to visit the Contemporary Resort at all this next trip, but plans are about to be changed! Lol

I bet it does!!! Ahhh yes, then you would LOVE it! Hahah I've done that before too! I just can't get enough.

OMG I NEED THAT CUPCAKE!!

I had not planned to visit the Contemporary Resort at all this next trip, but plans are about to be changed! Lol

YES YOU DO!!!

Oh my gosh YAY! You change those plans girl! I promise you won't be disappointed!

That cupcake sounds amazing! Like, kinda sorta wishing I had one right about now.

I keep trying to imagine what it would be like to have that kind of view all the time from your balcony. Seriously though, I can't even fully picture it. I've never been to the Contemporary other than while riding the monorail but I am so checking it out next time!

SDC12963.jpg

I KNOW.

So, when I read this, I totally read it in Monica Geller's voice, hand gestures and all. :rotfl2: That view really is awesome, though. And you can't go wrong with another relaxing boat ride.

That cupcake looks amazing! Holy moly do I want that cupcake!

I think it's very important to know where you can find good cupcakes on Disney property, and so far I've only been familiar with Starring Rolls. Their peanut butter cupcake is my favorite, but it can be really rich and sometimes a little too heavy on the chocolate.

But based on your picture, it looks like that cupcake kind of balances itself out with the light frosting on top.

I just have to thank you for your cupcake information. :worship: This is an important new development for me and Disney food!

I think you had an awesome night, if I do say so myself. I can only imagine how nice it must have been to sit in the comfort of your own room and watch MM&Y and Wishes without the crowds and the mayhem of Main Street. I mean, you could see the shows in your PJs if you wanted.

I ask again...how the heck did you ever leave?!? I'd have the worst post-Disney depression in the world. :rotfl:

If I had your room and your view I would NEVER LEAVE MY ROOM. Seriously. That view....I would have stayed and watched, too.....

That cupcake looks awesome, and I'm not a huge chocolate and PB together kinda gal (I hope we can still be friends ;) )

I think I could make a vacation of just riding Disney transportation. LOVE IT! :thumbsup2

Peanut butter M&Ms are my absolute favorite candy EVER!

For my Disney birthday trip, I've decided to share a cupcake with my BF every day (instead of getting a birthday cake), and that peanut butter cupcake is definitely a done deal!

I still can't get over the view from your balcony! Perfect, just perfect!

Welp, that Peanut Butter cupcake shot to the top of my "to eat" list. It looks amazing! You're giving me more and more reasons to spend more time at the contemporary!

I seriously love the Friendship Boats. I would happily ride them back and forth all day. Also, is it just me or does Hollywood Studios always seem super busy? I feel like every time we go there, there is a huge group of people heading in.

Sometimes those quiet nights around the resort/room are the best times of an entire trip. And I completely agree with you that it's really important to take time to appreciate the resort as well as the parks.

Wow, fast passes for LMA. That's a new one on me!! Cool!! And the pixie dust continues!! I think if I had your room view it would be one of my favorite things to sit and watch wishes! Totally different experience I bet! In a good way!! :goodvibes:

Not sure if someone has asked you, but you should post your cupcake reviews on the cupcake thread in the dining section!! That thread makes me drool!!

We will be at Chef Mickeys soon, so I will have to get a yummy cupcake after dinner, for the next day!! Looking forward to Day 3!!!

Isn't it so weird there are deer in Disney World? When we stayed at the WL last year, we saw so many deer in that area...we saw like, a herd of them when we went to Fort Wilderness one night, so cute! :lovestruc

OMG that cupcake looks AMAZING!!! :worship: Chocolate and peanut butter are pretty much a marriage made in heaven. Yum. Have you had the chocolate and peanut butter cupcake from Starring Roles? I wonder which one is better!

OMG seeing all of that MK magic from your balcony is priceless...I'm not sure how you will ever be able to stay anywhere other than BLT with a theme park view now! :rotfl:

SDC12954.jpg

(FIND THE MONORAIL! That monorail was stopped there for like a half an hour at least! We thought maybe that's where the monorails go to take naps or something. HAHA.) Ahh, the beauty! It’s even beautiful on a cloudy day.

I think that monorail actually IS taking a nap...from the angle of your pic it looks like that is around where the monorail barn is! Also, you're right - Wishes does basically come up from the middle of the woods. It's funny how it seems so close to the castle when you watch it from Main Street!

OK. THAT CUPCAKE!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

My jaw just hit the floor - especially at the pic of it cut in half!! It TOTALLY looks like heaven on a plate! :cloud9:

I also adore peanut butter chocolate, and I'm so heartbroken I missed that cupcake...we never went to the Contempo Cafe, and they didn't have it there earlier in the spring/summer. I wish I could hop on a plane and get one right now - I could ask my brother (who still works down there) to buy me one and freeze it and send it...I wonder how it would do in the mail?? :scratchin

Did you see the chocolate peanut butter cupcake at the Main Street Bakery? That one was very good, although at least judging from the outside, it doesn't look half as epic at the Contempo Cafe's version!

Your room really was the essence of Disney magic right there. Well, sans the key card issues, but THAT VIEW!!! I wouldn't be able to get over it either!

It is always strange to me what's 5 feet away in Disney. Have you ever looked at an aerial map, the layout is really interesting. One weird fact: the Haunted Mansion building and the "it's a small world" building are right next to each other!

Your cupcake looks awesome! I haven't tried the cupcakes at Contempo yet, but we just may have to after your review! :thumbsup2

OMG, CUPCAKE GOODNESS!

seriously, they better have that cupcake in two weeks, or they might have a crazy pregnant lady rampage on their hands. :rotfl: There is nothing I love more in this world than Reeses peanut butter cups, and a cupcake that mimics that, needs to get in my belly ASAP! :lmao:

I love how you saw all sorts of quirky transportation issues from your balcony, napping monorails, off-course ferry boats, the adventure never ends! :rotfl2:

I'm usually one to get really antsy when not at the parks, but when basically your hotel room is IN the parks, I can understand not wanting to leave! :goodvibes
