Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

YAY for one year on the DIS! :disrocks:

WOO HOO, for the Friendship boat and the Epcot resorts!!! Seriously, that is one of my favorite locations in WDW, even before I got to stay at the Boardwalk. It is just so scenic and there's so much to do there. Every time I see a picture of the Boardwalk I think of our balcony because our room was to the right of the "Boardwalk" sign (so if you look to the right of that, our room was in the middle level in that little yellow section-our balcony was the one on the right! :cloud9:). Aww I miss it there.

Now to answer your question about the deluxe resorts. My first choice is definitely an easy one and that would be the Polynesian. I'd mostly pick it for nostalgic reasons but really, what's not to love about it?! Great location, awesome theming, and the MONORAIL! My second one would probably be the Grand Floridian or Yacht Club because I haven't stayed at either of those places.

We liked the LMA show in '09, but it was kinda a long walk!!

That is a bummer about your gun not working! I would have said something so that the next person wasn't upset as well!

Okay... That Green Army Guy is freaky!! Do they talk?

I had to go look up a picture of one at DL because I didn't remember then looking like that! And indead they don't there!! Here is a not so great pic!
ry%3D400

It would be much better if the WDW ones followed suit of the DL ones! (At least in my opinion!!)

Alright... Resorts I would want to stay at.

1) Wilderness Lodge, I just love the looks of it!

2) I'm torn between Boardwalk and Beach Club! Both are close to DHS and Epcot so I would have to do more research on them!

Two resorts?? Yacht Club and Beach Club. I've been to the YC and loved it, and think that the Beach Club looks really beautiful too. Although the Boardwalk is a contender too...

I haven't seen LMA in awhile, the hike to get there is definitely long though!

Yay for the Friendship Boats! I love those, they're definitely my preferred Disney mode of transportation!

Another great update! Keep them coming! I am not a very good diser I guess, I hadn't heard they were thinking of changing LMA to a "Cars" land. My DGS would absolutely love it as Cars is his all time favorite movie. Anything Carter loves Nana loves too!

My hotel choices would be the Poly and the Grand Floridian. I've been to meals at both and loved them. They will have to wait for an adults only trip though. I can't see Carter liking them too much.

Terri

I would stay at the Grand Floridian or the Yacht Club !! I might get the chance to stay at GF since they are building DVC villas. I bet the points will be crazy for that, though.

Yay You updated! I'm always so excited when I log on and see there's a new update on your TR!

I've never actually seen LMA, but I have to say that I agree with you that I think the area could probably be put to better use...although I should probably actually see it one of these days haha lol before I say that for sure

I love your pictures of Spaceship Earth that close to the hat....that is so cool how close they appear together from that angle

Aahh the friendship boats one of the best modes of transporation ever...although I still love the monorail more:goodvibes

Girl seeing your pics has me even more excited that my trip is only one week away from today!!

And to answer your deluxe question..I would have to definitely say the polynesian, the grounds are just gorgeous and I love the restaurants, and the whole tropical vibe.

Other than that I would have to pick the Yacht Club, mainly for Storm Along Bay, but also because I love the short walk to the International Gateway, and the rooms always look so gorgeous in the pictures, But I would definitely have to give an honorable mention to the Wilderness Lodge!

Can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

Hey girl! I'm back and caught up! In reponse to your most recent update:

I AM IN LOVE WITH THE BOARDWALK. Seriously. I stayed there twice this summer and I just can't get enough. It's my favorite place. So I toooootally get your recent obsessing.

Can't wait to see where you eat! I love me some World Showcase noms.

In response to your question earlier:
The Grand Floridian and The Polynesian would be my choices. I've dreamed of staying at those places for FOREVER. There is absolutely nothing that is not perfect about them, and plus...MONORAIL! You can't get much better than that.

YAY I'm glad you're back!!!

Honestly, all your tweets about the Boardwalk have been a major reason for my obsession lately! I've always loved the look of the place and it all just sounds amazing.

It was a nom for sure!

Those are both wonderful!!! And yeah, staying on the monorail is easily the best thing ever!

Glad you're caught up girl!

Great update!

I am not going to lie - I am really, really hoping all the rumors are true & that they will be putting CarsLand where LMA is. Reid would be ecstatic & I wouldn't have to fork over the outrageous airfare to CA for him to see it. :rotfl:

We haven't seen that shown in our last few trips. We may work it in this year but I just don't know if it would hold Reid's attention the whole time. It is a really long show. :sad2:

YAY! for getting to ride TSM! :woohoo: That ride is so much fun! Sorry your gun was broken but at least you still had a good time! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear all about lunch!

As for your anniversary question:

my two "dream" deluxe resorts are (1) Contemporary - you already knew that though and (2) Boardwalk Inn.

1. Contemporary - can you beat the proximity to MK? No, no you can't. And the monorail goes THROUGH the resort!!! I want to walk out of my room & see the monorail taking off. Also, I know I'm in the minority here, but I really love the decor. It's just so clean & pretty.

2. Boardwalk - great location to EPCOT & DHS. But, it's the theming here that really gets me. I love that whole "Atlantic City, prohibition era" feel. I'm seriously considering booking us here for our 2014 trip, if we go around Star Wars weekends. I would have put us back there for our first 2 nights this year but I thought Reid might prefer the pool @ BC, since we'll actually have pool time those days.

Thank you!!

I'd like so see something like that, but I don't want a clone. (Especially since I think the main attraction there is the Radiator Springs Racers, which to me seems a lot like Test Track.) Even though I feel like the entire concept of DCA is now what DHS was originally supposed to be... I don't know! Haha I just love Pixar movies so much, I'd love to see more of them brought to life! Considering how popular TSM is, I think those could be major hits!

It is definitely long. I mean, I did like it a lot. I thought it was really cool! That being said, I don't feel the need to see it again now that I know all the tricks behind the stunts. The element of surprise is kinda gone.

I was so excited! It's the BEST. Haha it's okay!

Lunch was delicious!

Yeah, I knew you would say Contemporary!!! I don't blame you there! I love everything about that place. We're in the minority, it's fine.

ACK yes! The Boardwalk Inn has been at the top of my list lately! It just seems amazingly perfect. And I LOVE the look of the rooms!

I think you made a good choice for this trip. I think any kid would have a blast in Stormalong Bay. You can't go wrong! BWI would be a fantastic place to stay in the future!

aewsome pics

Thank you so much.

Ok, I believe my two resorts that are DREAM RESORTS if money was not a factor would have to be the Poly and Grand Floridian. I really want to stay at a monorail resort. I would have had BLT on there instead of the GF, but you said no DVC.

Loved the update. I kind of enjoy Lights Motor Action. I agree the walk is insane and it takes up space that could make a really cool Pixar area-more Cars stuff, Monsters Inc, etc.... But the stunts are pretty cool. The first time I saw it I thought it was really neat that they built that one car backwards to just make it look like it was being driven in reverse.

Love that you guys had so much fun on TSM! Boo for a broken gun, but you and Jacob had fun so thats what counts! I got a picture with one of those green army men once, it was kinda weird but meh!

I'm guessing you're going to go eat somewhere in Epcot?!?!? Think I have an idea where!!!

Also, notice my new ticker!!!!! I'm gonna talk about it soon on my TR :)

The only reason I said no DVC was because I've been wondering as far as regular rooms, not villas (I wish I could explain the way my mind works, but alas... I cannot. HAHA). But believe me, BLT is an excellent choice as far as DVC goes!

I love both of those as well! You really cannot go wrong with the monorail resorts!

Thank you! I enjoyed it too! I agree, the stunts are amazing. HOWEVER, they lose their awesome-ness when you see them more than once, and I can't see many people wanting to see it very many times. I think a Pixar themed expansion could add a lot of attractions that guests would want to do over and over! I just think it would be amazing. (But I totally agree, the backwards car was so cool!)

Thank you! Haha it was fine. We did have so much fun. I'm super competitive so I care about my score, but then I look over at Jacob and he's just having a blast and his score could be zero and he wouldn't care. It's just the cutest thing!

Yes indeed! You might... but also maybe not. Hahah!

HOLY WHAAAAAT?!?!?! Omg girl! You explain that right now!!!

Looks like you had an awesome morning at Hollywood Studios!

I'm totally with you on the whole LMA experience lol, I mean, just how far do they want us to walk? Next time I go, i wonder if anyone would notice if we take the Backlot Tour and sneak off near the LMA lol

We really did!!

Haha seriously! It's a long haul, that's for sure! Hahah hmm... I'm thinking they might?! :lmao:

By the way, I just noticed the pictures in your signature and they are just ADORABLE. Oh my goodness.

Hahah thank you! I can't believe how many posts I've accumulated in one year though... yikes.

Indeed! Mine too, and I haven't even spent much time there! Aww that's awesome! I'll have to look at that!!

The Poly is a popular choice! I love that place! The only thing that puts me off about it is how confusing I've heard it can be, since all the buildings are identical. (At least that's what I read in one TR!) I definitely want to stay there, though! The other two are awesome choices as well.

We liked the LMA show in '09, but it was kinda a long walk!!

I enjoyed the show too. I just don't see myself wanting to go see it again, now that the secrets have been revealed.

Oh, I did!

Hahah yeah, freaky for sure! Yeah, they do talk! I feel like they make them look like that because they are all supposed to be identical! I don't know though... creepy! I like the look of the DCA one better, though he is quite the pukey green color, isn't he? Hahha! :rotfl: (That's a cute pic!)

Those are all great choices! This is what I mean!!! Every time someone picks another one, I'm like, OH I WANT TO STAY THERE TOO! I just cannot pick.

The best part about you wanting to stay at Wilderness Lodge is that... you get to!

OH YES, TWO!! Those are both awesome! I like the Beach Club better (BLUE!) but they're both so awesome! Hahah, basically just any Epcot resort will do, right? ;)

Yeah, see, that's kind of my point! Have you ever felt the need to see it again, now that you know all the secrets? I enjoyed it but I don't know!!

I LOVE THEM TOO! They're so great. They're definitely my number two (behind the monorail, of course)!!!

Another great update! Keep them coming! I am not a very good diser I guess, I hadn't heard they were thinking of changing LMA to a "Cars" land. My DGS would absolutely love it as Cars is his all time favorite movie. Anything Carter loves Nana loves too!

Terri

Aww thank you! I definitely will. I'm not sure if they are or not, it's just been the 'buzz' lately. You're not a bad DISer though, I didn't even hear about it on the DIS! I would love to see more Cars stuff at DHS, but I want a lot of movies to get their own attractions!

Those are both amazing! Yeah, a little boy probably wouldn't be a fan of the Grand Floridian! But he might like the volcano pool at the Poly!!

Can't wait to stay here in March! :cool1: I love the atmosphere of the whole place, but I think my favorite place is the solarium. It's pretty, relaxed, cozy, and has a wonderful open feel, and I just love it. ::yes::
Oh my goodness! I knew that you were going to stay there, but it slipped my mind! That's so exciting! It's such a beautiful resort. I can't wait to hear what you think about it!

I would stay at the Grand Floridian or the Yacht Club !! I might get the chance to stay at GF since they are building DVC villas. I bet the points will be crazy for that, though.

Those are both great options!

Aww! You're so sweet! I'm glad you get excited!!

Hahaha yeah! The thing about that show is, while it's very enjoyable, it loses appeal after you've learned all the tricks. At least that's how I feel about it. I don't ever feel the need to see it again, you know?

It really is so cool! I was so excited when I spotted Spaceship Earth from there! (Really... soooo excited hahah.)

They are! SECOND BEST, haahh. Monorail is number one! :cheer2:

ONE WEEK! Oh my goodness! Are you on twitter or anything?! I'd love to hear about your trip, even if you don't end up doing a TR!

The Poly has been a very popular choice! I can see why, it's gorgeous and it has 'Ohana... so yeah. HAHA! The other two are beautiful as well! This is what I'm talking about, I seriously cannot pick! It's so ridiculous hahah.

I agree there are so many amazing resorts that it's definitely hard to choose:goodvibes

Lol unfortunately I do not have twitter because i've never really understood entirely how to use it as scatterbrained as that sounds haha lol..my sister has really been trying to talk me into it lately and i'm definitely tempted because of all the dissers I know are on there, but for now I just have good old facebook and will hopefully be updating a little bit about my trip on there while i'm gone since we are taking a laptop with us this time

It's insane! I honestly love all of them for different reasons!

Aww you should totally get one! It's so much fun and honestly, SO easy to use. If you do happen to get one, my name on there is the same as it is on here. :thumbsup2

Happy one-year of the Dis anniversary!!

It's been a while since I saw LMA, but I remember the long, blisteringly hot walk. Aaagh!

I haven't ridden TSM yet, but I will be rectifying it VERY SOON. I am very, very, VERY bad at Buzz, and I'm sure I'll be equally bad at TSM...but I have to try it!

My two resorts would be the Contemporary and the Beach Club. Even though I haven't stayed at BC yet, I'm in love with it!

LMA is a decent show. I just think once you've seen it, you're good

Ahhhh, my ride! TSM is my favorite ride on all of Disney. I would have said something to the CM's about your gun. You may have gotten to ride again.

If I could stay at any deluxe, money no issue......

Animal Kingdom Lodge
Wilderness lodge.

And it would be the best rooms in each!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you've hit the nail on the head about LMA...at least for this family, and we're typical, right:rolleyes1!?!?!
It's never even made it on our DHS radar. Neither has Indiana Jones, but I think it might once the kids are older and leaning towards more non-Animation Courtyard shows.

I know what you mean about Jacob just enjoying the ride and not caring about the score--I really tried to show Brynn how to shoot the gun, but she had no interest. Her interest was wearing those glasses, shouting, "WHEEEEEEE!" as we spun around, and yelling out the characters she spotted. And she is SO excited to do it again!! I'm excited, too, because...uhm...my score was low because I was trying to teach her...yeah, that's it:thumbsup2! Now Julia and Brandon are probably the most competitive people in the world, so I know they're going to be all about the score, and Sawyer's never been on it before. I'm thinking that he, Brynn, and I will all just ride together and yell, "WHEEEEEE!!" That is totally okay:love:.

Brave billboard? AWESOME! We just took the girls to see that (yeah, for the girls;)) yesterday, and we all loved it! Glad we got to see it before we leave for WDW.

I've never been on a Friendship Boat, but I can see why you loved it so much! Those resorts (well, with the exception of Swalphin) are so amazing. It's my dream to stay at the Beach Club some day. Not so sure about the Boardwalk...I'd like everything except the creepy clown, but that's probably enough to make me stay away.
Yeah, I'm a grown-up, and I'm cool like that.

Sounds like a great day Marissa. We could all learn a little something from Jacob -just enjoying the ride sounds like excellent advice.

Love the boardwalk area! Isn't it so pretty?

My 2 dream resorts would probably be the Beach Club and the Poly. We've stayed at the BWI and loved the area, so I'm thinking that + SAB= nirvana. And the Poly because it's 1. iconic 2. MK adjacent and 3. not DVC (as in points rental) therefore out of my price range.

Was CR/BLT one of your dream resorts? Is it still?

Just wanted to stop by & say Congrats to your Hokies. What a game. Needless to say, it's not a lot of fun in my house right now. Ed has finally stopped pacing & screaming profanities at the TV (thank goodness Reid is asleep). :lmao: But, I can feel him just seething on the couch next to me. :sad2:

Thank you!

Oh, in answer to your question, my two resorts are The Poly and Beach Club. I'm so lucky to be doing a split stay at the two of them in five weeks!!!

What a fun day at DHS!

Congrats on getting the highest score in the family, even with a broken gun! I bet that took mad skills!

I love the Friendship boats too! I wonder where you guys are going for lunch?

I'm not going to read your update now since I can't see the pics, but I will answer your question about the two deluxe resorts.

#1 Yacht Club Why? Because I love the BC and this seems like the quiet side pf the BC. The lobby is so beautiful, as are the buildings. I would really feel like I am away from it all, but have everything I need right within reach. Plus, being a DVC member, my chance of staying here is very small.

#2 Poly Why? I have spent a lot more time exploring the Poly resort and it really intrigues me. I love the view from the pool. And, again, being DVC my chances of staying here are small.

Once you pay those DVC dues every year it is much more cost effective to stay in those resorts. However, at some point in time I wouldn't mind renting my points and staying in either (or both) of these resorts.

The first place I would want to stay would be IN the Castle... does that count as a resort? I'd be riding dumbo at like 3 a.m.! Heck with Magic Hours... Magic is as Magic does if you're SLEEPING IN THE CASTLE!

Really though: I'd probably say #1 would be AKL and I would want a ground room floor with a savanna view... I saw a picture that someone took from their room of what looked like an emu taking a nap against the window in their room... HOW COOL would that be?! Oh Yeah! That's what I would want! :wizard: That would be both cool and kinda scary. :wizard:

#2 would probably be GF, with a room on the second floor, facing the MK... I have never read at TR of anyone who stayed in the GF with a view of the MK... so I'm not even sure they really exist, but I think that would be the most awesome place to stay because then you'd feel like you were sleeping ON Main Street.. you'd be SO close to the Castle, you could probably see Cindy waking up in the morning! :cool1:

I actually kind of like the stunt show! Although its not something we need to see every time.

If money were no object...Beach Club & Polynesian!
