Oh I love a good blizzard

Really? I need a blizzard whiteout on top of everything else?!?! I told Matt lastnight I didn't know I have moved to freaking North Dakota. I sooo deserve even a bigger present for valentines in additon to the this weekend's snow fall.

Ya'll be careful in this weather. If you haven't seen it yet, it's coming your way and it's not pretty.

If I wanted a blizzard, I'd went to dairy queen.

For my birthday Sunday, I shoveled for 5 hours with DH and on Saturday we shoveled 3 hours.

Having been stationed before in North Dakota for 4 (dog) years, this isn't quite that bad (it's much warmer here in NoVA), but having also been stationed in Key West, this isn't very good either:sad2:.

Hang in there everyone!:)

Tina, don't forget to save some snow for Matt for when he gets back. He might want some when:

-It is really warm and snuggly in bed and you hit him with a snowball.
-He is in the shower, you know, it is nice and hot in there and you just happen to toss one in with him.

Snowballs keep very well in the freezer. So does hail. I'm just saying :rolleyes1

holy moses I can't belive how nasty and cold it is! We have a very very dedicated plow man that has been working nonstop since last Friday. I just heard him out front and ran out with a pot of hot coffee and a sandwhich. I can't tip him or anything but can at least give him some essentials. Asked him if he needed a bathroom or some water. I told him I ate all the brownies but could share some cookies.

Man the wind is crazy! The plowman helped walk me back to the door because I couldn't hardly stand up from the wind blowing and the snow being so high in places. Poor guy having to plow and escort stupid woman trying to do good lol.

Ugh. I feel so bad for those of you with feet of snow! Please, those of you in the over 35 crowd, be careful with the shoveling.

That is so sweet of you Tina. I know he appreciated it. Around here our plow guys are out super early in the day and well into the night. I did tell the guy that does our driveway to skip me til later in the day if we don't have school. that way he can get to businesses first.
DH is working your way this week and he would come help if he could get out but he's stuck at the hotel. He can't even get to the office which is 1/4 mile down the road.

We were good this morning but now it's starting to get bad. Our governor is doing staggered early releases for State workers and most, if not all of the schools are closed.

Those in the Chesapeake Bay are, be careful. I heard there were going to be 70+ mile and hour winds and storm surge.

I am really trying to be positive about all this. I haven't left my house since Friday. I'm going a bit stir crazy. This weather has me just feeling overwhelmed and so out of my element. Everytime I hear a creek of the roof or the trees I'm looking up worried.

I'm trying to tough and get this but holy cow this weather is insane. It's not like I was reading the witner survival guide during the 100 degree summers of Arkansas.

NOT TODAY IN THE WIND, but you need to get the snow off the roof when you can. You can buy a roof rake at a hardware store--when you get plowed out. You stay on the ground and brush it off the roof so no ladder climbing.

all snowplow operations in Washington, dC and Alexandria, VA have been temp. suspended due to the terrible conditions...YIKES

WELL SHOOT-I was going to offer to fly out to DC and help Tina get the snow off her roof--I guess not.

There are thousands of people without power and these same people still haven't seen a plow down their road with 20 + inches of snow and another 12-20 coming. The power people have suspended service to get these people's power back on. It will be even longer now and with the horrible winds and heavy snow even more peoplw will loose power.

I have almost 40 inches of snow in my yard now. This stuff is no joke and be rather scary when you aren't accustomed to such things.

You are right. We probably have the same amount of snow on the ground but the big difference it that it would take a day, maybe, for us to get plowed out of the snow that you got all at once. We got 10" on Monday through the day and overnight and by Tuesday morning the roads were clear and fine. The majority of our powerlines are buried so losing power isn't as big of a concern here either.

Looks like there will be another Federal Government shutdown tomorrow. Metro announced that they will only be running limited, underground Metro service tomorrow. No bus service, no Metro access. And the suburban commuter lots are still not plowed.

:rotfl:

I agree. I'm in western MD and we're in a bad way. I'm glad i stocked up on wine and food. We were supposed to fly out to WDW this morning, then I changed our flights to tomorrow morning, then again to tomorrow afternoon....this morning I cried Uncle and emailed our TA. We're going to go April 23-30 instead. I am on the phone with SWA rebooking flights.

ENOUGH ALREADY! I am snow OVER this snow. :sad2:

Stay safe fellow snowpocalypse victims.

We're going at the same time! I'm hoping I won't have to take any time off because of this snow - that will cut our April vacation short! So far, we've been closed, so I haven't had to take leave. We only have cars, no SUVs.

So...any news on when the airport will start running again? Dh is there and his parents are coming here....and he needs to be here.:rolleyes1

I'm in No Va and yes it is insane how much snow we got and how bad the winds are today. I went out to clear a path for my dogs on the back yard this morning and did a little up front too, my husband picked up where I left this afternoon.
During the last storm the neighbors with a snow blower came to help us dig out, yesterday husband rewarded them with their fav beer ;)
I'm sick of being stuck indoors, sick of cooking and cleaning, sick of using my vac leave because I can't get to work.
Hang in there....it is almost over :)

No word from OPM - yet, but fingers crossed for DH;)

I know, I haven't heard a word either but on the NoVA forum I visit, a member said it was announced on the news (scrolled across the top). I'm not seeing that.

OPM posted at 6:50 that, drumroll please, the Fed. Gov't is CLOSED tomorrow!
:worship::banana:

I live in Chester County in PA. Saturday, we got 25.1 inches and today we are in the "bullseye" zone. We are estimated to get another 20 - 24 inches. I am only 5' 1" tall. I think I will need one of those bike flags to put on my head so if I get lost I can be found:rotfl2:

Too funny!:lmao: They just announced our kids have no school tomorrow. Day 9 of quality time with my kids, good times!:upsidedow

We normally have a foot or two in a winter season, so far this year we have had over 72 inches! So yes it is a big deal. :thumbsup2 And they are saying we are in for more come Monday.
