Oh Florida! An East Meets West Girl's TR: 8/9 p56 & 8/17 p57

I have been reading trip reports for awhile but don't reply often......and I was just going thru the pictures and not reading the first post and was like....wait, I know that place!!!! I live in Earleville MD....only about 10 minutes from you HAHAHAHA....small world!! But my child is only 9 so we probably haven't crossed paths at the ball field!

OK, I was four pages behind! I had to skip a lot of the comments because I'm just that hectic right now, but I gather from everyone else that everyone seems to be hectic right now! There's a lot of people who are in overdrive on their TRs because they have more trips coming up, but what stands out to me is the detail pictures, they are beautiful. The fountain the glass flowers, and all that.

Thank you for the compliment on the pictures! I love taking them. If only I could keep up with all the editing I have to do.

And I hear ya on getting caught up. I have been constantly behind for the past month. I finally caught up and now I am back to square one, thanks to my little W-burg adventure. :faint:

Cynthia, I'm glad you solved the mystery of the paper FPs. Other than that I'm just going to enjoy the ride and hope things calm down soon. Life is getting to crazy!

Amen to the craziness!

I am glad we solved the mystery of the paper FP too, even though neither one of us remembers how we got them. :confused3

I love your pictures from St Michaels. We don't have an ocean anywhere near here so it is interesting to see what we're missing.

Thanks. So glad you like. St Michaels is on the Eastern shore of MD (or the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay). I love living near the bay. I think its such a unique and amazing area. As far as the ocean - sometimes I really do take it for granted. We have this saying, "beach within reach"! It's nice to know I could drive there anytime I wanted.

I'd love to see your Williamsburg pictures. It has been a very long time since we were there and I'm sure that there have been a lot of changes since then.

I love W-burg and I will definitely share. I still have pics from last summer that I never posted here. We did a few new things this year. It was a great trip!

Cool! So I wonder how many people try to "crash" there now that they've seen it in the movie?
:rotfl2: I have no idea. Because plenty of people know its there now. I would expect a lot of those homes are vacation homes. Tough life, right?

No kidding. The duck blind is probably closer to my price range though. And I'm not even sure I can afford that!

:rotfl2: Me either, come to think about it. But definitely closer to my price range.

I've been there before! Interesting beach area. I've never really done the east coast beach/boardwalk thing, so it was kind of cool to check it out and do some bar hopping.

I think the reason I love the Boardwalk resort so much is because it reminds me of a retro beach resort. There is something very cool about the East coast boardwalks. They are all different and eclectic in there own right.

::yes:: You have an eye for them!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I never would have guessed! :rolleyes1

Gotta love a stop at the Ditch.

:rotfl2: What is a trip to Disney without a stop at the Ditch????? I don't even want to answer that!

Yuck. Our recent December trips have kind of spoiled me. It has been YEARS since I've experienced a Florida downpour like that.

I have been there plenty of times in the summer so I am very familiar with the subtropical down pour. I do recall one trip when it was blazing hot and it didn't rain in the afternoon ALL WEEK LONG! It was awful. As annoying as rain can be, its so much better than never getting a break in the heat.

Lovely day, well morning, in the MK. I have definitely put down the waffle option as something to add to the mix. Great you found that and passed it along!

It is SOOOOOOO good. I will definitely be treating myself to one in August. A most perfect breakfast!

I really enjoyed your photos from the New FL and am so pumped to see it for myself. It'll be like going to a brand new park for the first time with new rides even for me! WOOT!

You are going to love it! There's nothing better than getting to ride something new for the first time! Love that!

I LOVED your "artsy" photos the best though! Even a simple leaf is something to give a little downtime and relaxation to a tired soul.

Thank you! I really enjoy taking pics, as you know, so its fun when something creative turns out to be a good shot!

I love DISMeets and am so glad you got to see LL (wondering if that's LadyLallie who used to be here??) I met up with her briefly as well years ago, and miss seeing her posts.

Yes - Lady Lallie. This was the second time I had an opportunity to meet her. I always enjoyed all her PTRs. I noticed during the end of the time she spent on the DIS she would sort of phase out with her post TRs. Sometimes its easier to keep up the motivation for the PTRS.

Pool time... what else can be said? Your view was absolutely beautiful and peaceful.

It really was. Definitely a great resort for just hanging by the pool. Loved it!

Great choice!

Soon after, we hit some of my favorite topiaries. This one reminds me of my son Evan who will recreate this pose often, complete with singing. Just seeing it makes me smile.

:rotfl2: DH does this too with DS and our Pug. He's tried to do it with me but i'm just so light as a feather, he's worried I'l float away :rolleyes1:lmao:

Ah Italy, so pretty!

P5148970.jpg

Ooh this is pretty.

It may have been that for whatever reason the bride reminded me of Jessica Simpson who has always annoyed me to no end. LOL!

:rotfl::lmao: That woman may be annoying but dang it is she a business woman!

Is the end of my time on the DIS coming soon????

NOPE NEVER! I remember a while back you kinda went through the same thing but got right back into it. I think when you get behind on everything (not just DIS but at home too) you just kind of want to give up. For me when i'm off the DIS for a while i'm like, oh my gosh, I'll NEVER be able to catch up on all my threads AND post an update. Then I realize the DIS is supposed to be fun not stressful. Who cares if you won't finish your TR in 'time'.....at least that's what I tell myself :goodvibes

May I present heaven on a waffle

Aw yeah!

When I saw this I started to rub my screen, then realize the pink lines under her eyes are painted on there  What are those for anyway??

I love that you find all the places that I never look.

Pretty ladies! :goodvibes

Ooh I don't know which one I like better.

That's tight! <---woah haven't used that word in forever!

Really? How cool!

I'll take that, please. Yikes, but i'd be worried about DS going out to play in the backyard :scared1: Never mind.

Are those made of glass?? I so want a pond now just to have these! These are gorgeous.

For some reason I felt the need to photograph this bag. I have no idea why. Did I develop a sudden fascination with sequins???

I think you're just fascinated by all things pretty. ::yes::

Tequila!!!

Thank you for those Ocean City pictures. I have not been for many many years, we go to Assateague now since I can take my dog. But many a childhood summer involved Ocean City.

I'm so glad you liked the OCMD pictures. I like to visit the Boardwalk every so often because its so eclectic compared to the boardwalk in Rehoboth. Denny and I are going to do a little mini vacay this September in Bethany and I am certain we will be spending one day in OC. Even though the weather was not super great that day, it was still pretty cool strolling on the Boardwalk. I love Assateague, too.

Look at that rain! Wowza! Remind me again when you're going in August. Mom and I will be there July 31-August 4. I don't think we overlap but I'm doing some wishful thinking :)

We don't arrive until the 15th. Boo! Brian has an internship, so we really had to visit at the end of the summer before school starts. I don't know anyone who is going to be there at the same time.

I have not even thought about doing a TR for my most recent trip, life has just been crazy.

I hear ya on the craziness, but I am going to hold out hope that you change your mind and decided to do a TR.

Love the Ocean City pictures. THanks for sharing.

Thanks! So glad you like them! It's a cool place to visit.

That's some great looking 'ritas.

The BEST!!!!!!

And a whole LOT of rain. Wow.

I forgot how crazy that rain was until I saw the pictures!

Nice shots! I haven't been there in years.

Thanks! Why I am not surprised you haven't been there recently? You are too busy galavanting all across the country! :rotfl2: Speaking of which, your vacation must be right around the corner by now!

I should have guessed!

Pretty predictable, aren't we? ::yes::

Yikes. Looks like that got on you in a hurry.

You're not kidding. Thank goodness for ponchos!

The Wave? :confused3

Close. Very close. You'll see!

Getting a early start on a long weekend trip is never a bad thing. It worked well!

I love touring ships like this. Corpus Christie, TX has an aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington, the I've gotten to tour a couple of times now. It is really awesome how those things are designed. Not quite as nice as the Disney Dream though!

It IS really amazing. I am so naive when it comes to naval vessels. The naval base tour was so amazing and actually being on the USS Wisconsin was very cool, too. Unfortunately, we tried to do to much in one day so it was a lot to take it. I would break it up more if I was to do it over.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks! We did!

Hope you have a fabulous time :)

Thanks Pam! We did. You know I love those Williamsburg trips and I really loved the hotel where we stayed. It was a Marriott Vacation Club and it was really very nice.

What gorgeous pictures you have from St. Michaels and Ocean City - thanks for sharing! Looks like St. Michaels would be right up my alley. :thumbsup2

Thank you! So glad you like the pics! Saint Michaels is a really cool place. I just love the Eastern shore of MD and the Chesapeake Bay. It's an amazing place to visit.

Yikes! That as a lot of rain, you could see it pelting right off the garbage can! I hope it cleared up for you fast.

It did. In fact, I forgot how hard it rained until I looked at those pictures.

I hope you and Denny have a fabulous weekend in Williamsburg!!! :goodvibes

We had SO much fun! I just love it there. I think its my second favorite vacation spot after Disney because there is so much to do!

A drive by hello! Sorry to be totally MIA. It is the end of the school year gauntlet here which means kid events every night. Literally. Every.Night! Including the weekends.

It sucks the life out of me. LOL!

We are just the dynamic duo, aren't we? We are both such slackers! I am just starting to get caught up after being away last weekend. Little by little - sometimes that all you can do!

About 10 more days of insanity, including houseguests, in laws, Taylor's college graduation (and probable drama around the event). And..Evan turns 16 on Sunday. AACK, how is that possible? I will try to get an update up over the weekend and catch up on replies but it is possible that it won't happen.

OMG - I forgot Taylor was going to graduate. I hope there wasn't too much drama.

And Evan turned 16???? Is that possible? Crazy! Happy belated B-day to Evan!

I hope you both are having fun/surviving this week. Mary Ellen, sorry that it's been rainy and overcast on your vacation, but I hope it's a nice break from reality. Enjoy the time away from work.

I totally enjoyed the time away from work! And, honestly, the weather wasn't too bad. Better than super hot and humid weather. Our last two days were pretty nice, so no complaints. We even got a little pool time which was most excellent!

Cynthia, sounds hectic, but hopefully things will slow down after school gets out. Graduation time can be so dramatic, crossing my fingers everything runs smoothly and without any hiccups.

Amen to that!

Have fun!!!

Thanks Jen! We had another fun mini-trip to Williamsburg. I loved the Manor Club. We stayed in the section across the street and it was very nice and secluded back there with a lovely pool. I will definitely be staying there again in the future!

So I had good intentions to finish all my replies tonight and get another post out, but the recent events on a fellow DISers TR have sort of soured me to the DIS right now. I may come back later this weekend, but the motivation is seriously low right now.

Yep I think the majority of us are :sad2:

ETA: I wanted to say I think you handled the situation appropriately and tastefully :goodvibes

Mary Ellen - Oh no. Sounds terrible. I am in the dark about this, but sorry to hear about such events. Makes me sad.

I'm sorry you had that experience.

I'm sorry about whatever this was that happened. I guess it's not someone who's TR I'm following. Hopefully it gets better.

Hey. We're here. Well most of us. I'm not going anywhere. I've never read one of his reports but I'd seen him around and intended to try to get up to speed on his current one when I had some time. The name calling and accusations were certainly inappropriate in a public forum. You handled yourself well as @Leshaface said.

I"m catching back up after my parents were in town all week. I'm so sad about the other board drama that has affected so many of my Dis friends. I love reading everyone's reports and seeing your pictures. I hope things work out. Mean people suck.

I'm all caught up! Like others, I'm not sure what happened on another TR, but it makes me sad to know that there can be something so unpleasant on a website that usually brings such happiness. :( I hope that you realize the joy that you bring to others through your photos and storytelling.

Speaking of that, I really loved your update with the photos at the pool. They all made me want to be sitting right there with you. That resort is a so beautiful but you find all of the details that I would miss. That is a gift!

(Also, hi @Duggette . It's nice to be back, even if it is sporadic. I'm going to have to read some of you old reports to get caught up on your life!)
