Ok
I figured out that with a package deal offered from my AAA agent vs. a room only discount AAA and park tickets with no dining, there would be approxamitely a $585.00 difference in price.

The question is. How much would a party of 2 eat per day. We would most likely do 1 counter service and 1 sit down meal per day plus some snacks. We love the sundaes from Ghiradelli which would not be included in the dining plan. Correct? So I could assume that we may end up spending an extra 50 - 100 dollars on non-included snacks which would make the difference about 685.00.

Would you say we would be better off getting the AAA room only discount and paying for the dining our selves. Plus, I dont know if I could eat a counter service meal and appetizer + main course + dessert every night on the dining plan.

Thanks so much for your advice.

The MYW dining plan isn't for everyone. We tend to eat two smaller sit-down meals per day. I can't imagine feeling like I'd have to order an appetizer, entree, beverage and dessert for each person in a single seating...I would be uncomfortably "stuffed" for the rest of the night, and I'm a fairly heavyweight person.

During our last trip (9 nights) in December, I added up all of our dining charges. We ate what we wanted, where we wanted, including Chefs de France. This was for two adults. Some days we spend more than the $70 the plan would cost, some days less. Over the course of the trip, we spend a little less on dining (including tips) than the plan would have cost us at $70 per night.

You might want to consider the DDE - Disney Dining Experience. It cost $75, but you get a 20% discount off many different WDW restaurants, including alcoholic beverages. As soon as you spend $375 at participating restaurants, the card will have paid for itself so you will save 20% of everything you use it for after that. The card is good for 1 year from purchase. Might be a better value for you than the dining add on.

Best wishes -

Len that helps tremendously!!

If most of your family eats light meals, consists of finicky eaters, or can't agree on restaurants, skip the plan entirely. [\quote]

Whereas we did great using the VOUCHERS (which arent available at this time, probably due to this MYA dining experience!) we split meals, and were stuffed, esp at LeCellier, so having to use 2 adult per person, plus the tip you posted above, helps me make a descion for our family!!! (I'm really going to miss those vouchers, splitting the meals allowed us to try things we wouldnt, and with dd 8 being such a picky eater, there is no way we'd get her ticked credited) Now I'll just have to figure out about AP and the DDE 20% card!! :)

Thanks for being such a wealth of information!!

Can you still split meal with the DDE card ? I don't know why it would make a difference, maybe a bigger tip.

I'm sure you can - and also sure a larger tip would be appreciated. After all, the waiter/waitress is still serving two.

The good news with the DDE is that you don't have to order an appetizer, entree, beverage & dessert. You can just order what you want. That's an especially attractive feature for those of us who can't/don't want to eat a lot at one sitting.

thanks for all of your advice. I got an even better deal without going with the dining option. do you think I should purchase the DDE? approxamitely how much would a couple spend on sit down meals in 1 sitting on average?

The DDE is $75 without an AP and $50 with an AP. This past trip was just me and my mom and we saved over $43 on just 3 dinners (Ohanas, Trail's End and Le Cellier, where we split an entree) and 2 character breakfasts.
