Oh Aussie dollar...sad face

I know I'm totally bummed by this too! Our first trip to the US in 2009 the dollar was at about 88 cents (that was the exchange rate on a good day though we would have got less) and we thought that was brilliant but then the last 2 trips the dollar was basically at parity and it was such a luxury and we got used to it thinking it was just the norm - this harsh fall back to reality is a bit tough but to put it in perspective, things are better than they were in 2008/2009! :)

regretfully i haven't been in a position to pay for everything even when it was at parity, so i have had to gamble with the daily exchange rate.

bonus, i have been paying with my credit card which doesn't incur foreign currency transaction charges, so that has saved some $, but most of our trip was paid off around the 98-92c mark. this current reduction to 88c makes me want to cry in terms of the # of $ extra i have to pay now that i wouldn't have had to pay if i was able to pay for my trip earlier in the year, but that's opportunity/cost in action...

stupid aussie $$... why you gotta be a hater lol.

disclaimer: :teacher: i know why it's back to 88c and i realise it could be worse, but that doesn't negate my disappointment :sad2: that it's not closer to parity :)

oh Aussie dollar

why do you toy with us so

andona did it!

Decided I'm not talking to the Aus dollar anymore.

AUD$, YOUR FRIEND I AM NOT. :yoda:

From MSN.com:

To change the currencies in the first column, choose an option from the first drop-down. To change the rates that appear in the other columns, choose an option from the second drop-down. The rates show how much of one currency you would need to buy one unit of the other one. For example, comparing Euros to US Dollars, the "In&" column shows how many Dollars you would need to buy one Euro and the "Per&" column shows how many Euros you would need to buy one Dollar.

:( We are just a little over 2 months away and I am still too scared to put any money on the card. Have it sitting in the bank but am praying for a miracle soon. This will be my first trip when I lose on the aussie dollar :( <- major sad face

I don't imagine the dollar will reach the same heights as it did earlier in the year. I'd change over money now but that's just me.

Wow, how did you get .94? That's higher than trade, you did do well!

I just checked and the Aussie dollar is $0.92! There is HOPE! Come on you can do it, get over that dollar mark LOL Pleeeeaaaasssseee :flower3:

Where did you go to get that exchange rate from :confused3 That would be great right now :)

I went to the local post office yesterday. I used them because no commission charged and yes I almost fell over myself and I kept looking saying "please don't change, please don't change" whilst we were doing paperwork.

I've got my fingers crossed for our lucky wish of 95c - when it hits then - IF it does, then I'm swapping $$$ Pixie Dust please!!

Sounds like somebody a the PO made a mistake with the rate, I've never heard of them selling money for more than what it's worth. They might be I. Some strife when the manager finds out!
