Oga's Cantina--are you required to order something?

I'm the OP and didn't read this entire thread, as I wasn't soliciting moral or ethical advice. I was asking a straightforward question. Thank you to those who answered it.

Meanwhile, we did go to Oga's today and in fact there was something there that both appealed to me and was vegan, so I ordered it and it was delish. We enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere.

BTW, there were plenty of walk-ups available so our reservation wasn't actually necessary.

And, for the record--no, you are not required to order anything.

Awesome! Glad you had a good time and glad you didn't take some of the responses on this thread seriously.

We aren't going to bother making an ADR as there is a lot of available times every day of our May trip. If we can't get in, that's okay. Menu doesn't appeal to us either and neither does being told we can't walk around. :)

Yes it was.
I’ve never said otherwise
You’re the one who started talking about butt cracks and being vulgar
I was "vulgar" because I made a joke about butt cracks? Have you met the internet before? Don't get on my powerlifting forum then, where about every third word typed is the "F-bomb".

Good for you, OP. If it's okay with Disney, then all the unsolicited opinions on this thread aren't important.

Get the Bantha milk and just eat the cookie. I actually liked the blue milk way more than I thought.

  1. Get ADR
  2. On the day check in with a CM at the time of your ADR
  3. Wait in line to get to the host stand, usually about 10 minutes
  4. Depending on your party size, the host will make a group of 6 people
  5. The host will bring you to your assigned area, either a standing table, a booth or at the bar
  6. When you are assigned a space, you have to stay in that space for the duration of your visit. Once you leave that space, it will be assigned to someone else
  7. A server or bar tender will take your order, maximum 2 drinks per person.
  8. When the server brings the drinks, they will also bring the check and you will be expected to pay.
  9. When you finish your drinks and are ready to leave, then you can have a walk around
  10. DJ Rex is an animotronic DJ playing music. He is located in a alcove of one of the walls. Depending on your assigned area you may not be able to see him. He was originally part of Star Tours and his ship crash landed in Batuu and he is now employed by Oga to entertain guests in the Cantina.

Thank you so much for the detailed overview of what to expect! This really helps me understand things. So, I can keep my ADR, we can have a quick drink, and them pay and have a quick view of things as we head out! Love that I will not have to spend a tone of time here to experience the place!

Exactly, as long as you have paid before you leave you space and that you understand that your space will be assigned to someone else once you move, then yes you can walk around, take photos and videos. Thats what I did on both of my visits in Disneyland in the summer

Definitely won't need a ton of time to "experience" Oga's.

It us a cool space and amazingly themed, but not anymore so than the other dining places and stores in SWGE that are easily accessed. :)

Glad you enjoyed it!
We had fun and plan to go back.

We had an ADR (with two little kids). We spent 10 minutes inside, ordered a beer to go and looked around while the server brought it and took our payment, left a big tip and got out of there. It worked perfectly for our situation, we didn't take up undo space, and then we split the beer while we wandered around and explored Galaxy's Edge.

I don't drink alcohol and had the overnight oats which were DELICIOUS. My friend had the blue milk. We spent about thirty minutes in there and had fun. Didn't cost us THAT much.

What did you order?
I got the Hyperdrive (Punch It!). Although it doesn't say so on the menu, the drink is totally vegan. And it was delish. My sister had a double espresso and a cinnamon roll.

My own experience - I went in October around 5PM. I honestly wanted to cancel but didn't want to get charged for missing an ADR so I went and said I just wanted to check it out but not order anything. They gave me a quick tour (5 minutes?) and let hang out for 5 minutes and then I said I was done and everything seemed fine.

Maybe give one of the non alcoholic drinks a chance? Who knows, maybe you’ll like it.
I was concerned about not liking any of the non alcoholic drinks, but I found one that was fine. I don’t drink alcohol, so those weren’t an option. I don’t remember the name of the drink, but it had some kind of berry Poweraide in it. It didn’t have a lot of flavor, so it was just refreshing after being out in the heat. My BIL tried the cold coffee based drink, and liked it also (I am not a coffee fan).

I really preferred the breakfast time I had during the AP preview. I got a glass of orange juice (or a close equivalent, could have been a blended juice but tasted orange) and a cinnamon roll. It was expensive, but a very mainstream option.

“Are you required to order something?”
Yes, that’s generally how bars work.
You can order a regular soda if that’s more your thing.

We can get a soda? I really want to see it and don't drink alcohol or sugar drinks, so was just going to order something and not drink it.

And, for the record--no, you are not required to order anything.

For the record, it is not a place that wants people to come in, take up space without ordering, and look around and leave. It is a bar, where you are expected to buy something. Or would you go sit at say an Applebees, and just look at all the stuff up on the walls, and then leave????

I wouldn't eat at an Applebees if you paid me - every one of them I've been to has been a disgusting dump with staff who would clearly rather be anywhere than there (who can blame them?).
