offsiters buses still going to OKW and SSR

Now Disney is definitely trying.

there is a big sign telling offsiters to use the bus services at PO.

the problem - the WDW bus drivers are refusing to let them. They are still telling them OKW or SSR.

so this is still a problem.

the offsite guests that I talked too - were using OKW - because the bus drivers for PO would not take them.

still if the bus drivers really want to be honest - then CR is definitely the best bus stop for the MK. and BC is the best for Epcot.

they aren't.

so Disney needs to make sure the bus drivers understand that offsiters now need to come and go through PO not OKW or SSR.

While that's better for DVCers, it's not better for the guests with legitimate business at DTD, nor is it better for those paying to stay at Port Orleans.

well considering the bus drivers are ignoring the sign and refusing to take day trippers to PO - it is not a problem for PO yet...

I don't get it. Why do they need to take a bus ANYWHERE? IF their hotel doesn't have a bus that takes them to transit, why do they not park in the theme park lots?

didn't ask?

I guess to kept from spending the $12 (might be $11) parking fee.

they were actually going to MNSSHP - and parking at DTD.:confused3

Some of them might not have a car to park in the theme park lots. We are now DVC members and this time round we stayed at our home resort OKW. This was our first experience of staying onsite. Before that we have always stayed on International Drive. As neither of us drives, we have always used the Lynx bus to get to WDW and then the internal transportation to wherever we were going. We never had any problems getting from Transportation and Ticket Centre to the main parks, but if we wanted to go to the waterparks or DTD we had to go via a resort.

This is interesting. Offsiters without cars clogging the bus system. Sort of like a mini-illegal alien issue at Disney. When getting on the buses, I don't recall presenting a hotel room card. How do the bus drivers know who's who? Then again, that was 3 years ago, and a nightmare ago. I try not relive that nightmare. The bus system. Not the vacation.

In the "old days" purchase of any park ticket used to include use of the WDW transportation system for that day.

Is that still the case? If so, then off siters are not illegals.

I'm not sure why they would use OKW.:confused3 Or PO?

How do the bus drivers know who is onsite and offsite at PO? or anywhere else for that matter? I've never seen anyone check.

I'm curious to know the answer to that, too. I haven't stayed offsite in a long time, but I'm considering staying a week on points and using my traditional timeshare to exchange to something nearby for a second week. I'd obviously need a car to get to the park, but would definitely utilize WDW transportation once I was there.

Yes, that is still the case.
That said, it is bad form to park at Downtown, then take the SSR bus to the MK just to beat the parking fee..

I don't think we are talking about parking at DTD. It sounds like they are either catching a bus or a taxi to get to DTD. If they are parking there, then I agree that they should be charge the daily parking fee. However, as with everything, if you have a loop hole, people will use it.

We went to breakfast at the GF when we were offsiters once and they told us we could leave our car there. That was the only day we did it. However, I posted that on the board, and was beaten up pretty bad over that. I was not trying to scam the system. If I was, then I would have done it everyday.

no the new tickets did not include transportation - read your ticket.

they know because the guests ask them is the bus to take to get to a hotel that will take me to the parks.

these people don't realize that parking at DTD to ride the buses to the resorts is not a fun thing.

and yes they were definitely parking at DTD. that I did ask.

since members are paying for the transportation at OKW and SSR - I definitely want Disney to stop this.

now if you don't - then you don't mind paying for others to use equipment that is surpose to be only used by members (or guests).

It does seem that people often park at DTD and use SSR or OKV buses to access the parks. I also saw a young couple pushing through the grassy area and knocking through the flowers to take a walking short cut because I suppose they were tired - irked me but I refrained from fussing. I just recently filled out a DVC member survey and under additional information I suggested they create surveys based on these sort of topics for each home resort and also posted about this as a complaint in the dues category. I talked a bit about the issues of SSR busses being slow and people using SSR buses for accessing the parks through DTD instead of parking at the parks and paying a fee. Just ride the bus, play dumb and ask the people you suspect to be doing this. They don't think you'll be mad about it so they'll tell you what they're doing most of the time. Transportation can be used to get from park to park but not for purposes of getting free parking if you are a non resort park goer! Hope this all made some sense - lunch break doesn't give me much time to think out my posts :rotfl: !

Not to repeat myself but...the folks paying to stay at the non-DVC resorts pay for the transportation as well. It's all part of the room rate.

This is not a Member vs. Non-member issue. It is an issue for all guests in the Resort. And, it could be easily solved by adopting the Anaheim/DTD parking policies at Orlando/DTD. Disney has of yet chosen not to solve it this way, which means they don't really care all that much.

LOL--I guess we can scope out who the offenders are and then casually mention--"gee--hope your car doesn't get towed for parking there all day . . . "

Whoa Nellie...
Are you saying that WDW transportation is no longer included with park admission??

MG

Its no longer on the ticket, but the ticket no longer itemizes benefits (mine says almost nothing other than 7 day park hopper (10+), non-transferrable). There has been some debate here on whether DISNEY considers it included or not.

It doesn't make sense that transportation wouldn't be included, because many people leave the parks to have lunch or dinner at one of the resorts & then return to the park. I would think WDW would lose money if they restricted park guests from utilizing the monorail, boats or buses. :confused3

Excellent points & I didn't realize Disneyland had that parking restriction for DTD. Thank you for the link! :thumbsup2

Interesting. Perhaps it is still allowed, but this is their way of discouraging it.. Perhaps even phasing it out.
