Ok Dis'rs I need your help! DF and I are not 'religious' in any sense, but our families are. We are looking for an officiant and really have no idea whome to choose. A family priest was initially going to perform an unsanctioned ceremony but that has fallen through. So who would you recommend? Thanks!

We used Rev. Kevin Knox. While DH and I aren't overly religious, I wanted some "spiritual" aspects in our ceremony. I also added some personal touches and Rev. Kevin was very willing to do whatever we wanted.

He sends out a great packet of information so you can pick and choose elements you want, but you can also find stuff on the internet if you want.

Take a look at his website: http://www.abeautifulceremony.net/

I would highly recommend Rev. Kevin!

I also had Rev. Knox. DH and I are very spiritual, but not religious AT ALL. BUT DH's mom and dad are super Roman Catholic. DH's mom was/is having an especially hard time with us not having a Roman Catholic wedding.

Rev. Knox helped us create a ceremony with catholic touches... multiple prayers followed by the guests saying "Amen", the blessing of the hands ceremony (traditionally catholic), and he wore a robe!

He also helped us eliminate religion while including spiritual touches...replaced both the name "Jesus" and word "church" with "God", replaced "til death do us part" with "until the end of time" and he read the Apache wedding blessing.

After the wedding, my MIL told DH that she was very relieved by the ceremony. I don't really know what she was expecting, but I guess being relieved is a good thing. And my FIL said it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies he had ever seen.

Rev. Knox was great!

YAY! Then Rev. Knox can definitely help you. Also, his wife is a minister too. If he is booked for your wedding date, she may be available to provide the same service for you.

We are using Kevin Knox as well. I have seen videos where he performs the ceremony and he has such a beautiful speaking voice. He has been amazing with communication and we have set up an appointment to meet with him while we are down for our planning session.

We (the atheists) chose JoAnn Pessagno. She seemed to be more than qualified and responded VERY quickly to our first inquiry. She seems really full of life. (She even perfomed a NUDE ceremony! :rotfl2: http://greatreporter.com/mambo/content/view/1626/ )

She wrote us a beautiful ceremony and set it to us word for word. It made us BOTH cry! It was spiritual with out being overly religious. We loved it! Here's her website:

If you want to PM me I can send you the ceremony as an example. She seems to write up a new ceremony for each couple - its great!

We met Joann last week while we were in Disney and she is awesome. She will do a totally non religious ceremony like for Alissa, or incorporate Buddhist themes (for me).

She has a degree in divinity so she is not just for those who want no religion or different ideas incorporated. She will work with you and make suggestions based on what you want and the type of people you are.

I am so glad we met her and I would reccomend her to anyone.

We used Rev. Randal Miller for our completely no-religious ceremony. He was FANTASTIC!! The ceremony was all about love and taking care of one another. We were super late for our rehearsal and super stressed out and he was so calming. We laughed and giggled through the ceremony. Everyone that has seen our video sneak peek has commented on why we were laughing so much. I think he is slightly more expensive than others ($350) but well worth it. He has done lots of celebrity weddings and stuff and was telling the boys all about them while they were waiting.

Did you have any trouble getting in touch with Rev. Miller before the wedding? I gave him a deposit months ago and have tried emailing him since and no response. I have 3 months til my wedding, but I'm curious.

This just makes me feel even better about choosing her. She really has been nothing but fantastic. She seems very well versed and is VERY poetic. I can see why she would be great at incorporating all different kinds of religions. She seems very open minded and you can really tell she loves what she does. Just by reading our ceremony, we could tell we made the right choice - she really knows how to describe love and all facets of it... I can't wait!! :hyper:

we used rev luther kistler he was great   alot of fun to work with he also was very reasonable:thumbsup2 I think like $250

I never really tried. I emailed him to check his availability and to set everything up. Then didn't hear from him until about two-three weeks before the wedding to confirm everything and then a few days out to read the ceremony that he does. Met him at the rehearsal for the first time and he was great.
