Official Wine & Dine 2014

So I just called the RunDisney number again and asked about dropping the park tickets from my reservation, with the intention of buying them separately through the ESPN Event Tickets site and paying extra for the shipping to Canada. This time, I got a very helpful representative who said that the easiest thing would be to remove the tickets from my package, and instantly add a separate ticket order with its own confirmation number. The physical tickets will be available for pick-up at Will Call (resort or any of the parks) but the new confirmation number (which was 12 digits and incorporates some letters from your name) worked perfectly on the MyMagic website.

And the cost was exactly the same, so yay!

Just wanted to update - this is exactly what I did, with the same positive results! Thanks for the help. The MDE IT helpdesk CM was trying to be helpful but didn't get anywhere with the tickets on the package - she just told me that the tickets are picked up when I arrive. She didn't seem to understand that I didn't want the physical tickets - just a confirmation number to add to MDE.

I have got all of my dining reservations made and now just waiting on FP+. I think I am going to start my training in July. What training programs is everyone following (if any)?

Also, I am a little disappointed about the announcement of the Star Wars half at DLR. Had I known, I would not have signed up for W&D and would have done the Star Wars half :( It is just so expensive to get to Cali from where I live and I'd have to bring DH since we have never been to DLR and he'd kill me if I left him at home! If the Star Wars half was in WDW, I could have done a quick solo weekend.

Glad people are getting the ticket/MM+ issues worked out! My little countdown app on my phone tells me I'll be checking in 160 days from now!!!

I'll be using Wine & Dine as a long run during training for Marathon Weekend in January. In general I like Hal Higdon training plans. :)

I'm not sure if you've done Wine & Dine before, but I hope you love it! It's a really fun race...add in Food & Wine and it's just a great weekend. :goodvibes Star Wars will be there for you next year or at some other point in the future.

I'm doing the 13.FUN challenge through Another Mother Runner. There's swag. It starts beginning of July and ends mid-October but has modifications for races later than mid-October. Link is below:

I'm planning on doing the Galloway Plan from the runDisney website which starts July 8th and will overlap with the training plan for the Disneyland Half Marathon which started at the end of April :) I'm loving the plans so far. Feeling guilty that I couldn't get my weekend run in over Memorial Day weekend but I'll make it up some other time.

Sorry about Star Wars :( I'm sure you both will get to experience it some other time! :D

This is my first runDisney event and I am excited for it, despite my Debbie Downer post! I was just pretty bummed out about Star Wars. However, I think it will be insanely popular so it won't be going anywhere :)

I just took a look at the novice Hal Higdon plan and it looks pretty good. What do you do for cross-training?

The Galloway plan looks good too! I currently run (not fast lol) without walk breaks but for the half, this might be a good way to go - use a long interval like 5 minutes run, 1 minute walk or something. I do like that the plan is 16 weeks, whereas Hal's is only 12.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Happy training :)

I was born at Little Company of Mary hospital and lived in Torrance for my first 18 years before heading off to UCSB. Parents still there, visit every year for the DL half over Labor Day, small world! In other news, Frontier has some superb prices going for flights IAD-MCO, we just booked Fri night-Sun night at $168/person round trip. Note they do charge for carry ons now (but not personal items) yet it's cheaper to check a bag ($20), so we're just putting all our stuff in one checked bag and assuming they won't lose our running shoes. :rolleyes2 Or maybe I'll stuff those in a backpack personal item, hmmmm.

Small world! I was born at the same hospital. I'm in and out of town for doctors appointments plus the Disney races. Actually have a doctor based out of Little Company.

Need to check with person in charge of air travel about our own air travel status. I know he's been busy getting out New York travel plans in order so not sure if he managed to book the Wine and Dine airplanes yet.

Can anyone tell me if you do "proof of time" if you're just registered for the 5K? I ran my very first 5K yesterday, so I actually have a time! :)

I didn't submit a time, so I'm not sure how they assign corrals. Your bib will have your corral on it, but there isn't a specific scale for the 5K like there is for the half marathon. Here's a copy of last year's details.

Great job on your first 5K!! :thumbsup2

Just a friendly warning: the 5K is a GATEWAY race... slippery slope you are on now!!!:)

Thank you for the information and the congratulations. Yeah, I just signed up for another 5K today, so I think you're right.
;)

There are no corral assignments for the 5k, so no need for proof of time.

Not to be a jerk, but...yes and no. You do not need proof of time, but (based on my experience running the Jingle Jungle 5K in 2013) you WILL be assigned to a corral. I believe they do it based on the estimated pace you put in when you registered (for example, I am pretty sure I put in that I would be running a 9:00 - 11:00/mile pace or something similar).

Yep, exactly - corrals for the 5Ks are assigned based on the estimated pace you entered when registering.

It's a weird science trying to figure out what corral you will be in for the 5k I always put the same pace and I have been in the front and also in the dead last corral.

Sorry - I was basing my experience off of the Neverland 5k - I just assumed runD did it the same for both coasts! For that one if was first come first served.

No worries! :) I think maybe it's different for Disneyland vs. WDW because there are more people...???

Help! I keep balking at the process of booking hotel reservations for the Wine & Dine because I want to make sure I get the best deal possible that includes all of the cool facets of "vacation packages" like getting magic bands mailed to me with our names on it etc.

I'm planning to stay at the Art of Animation from Friday November 7th to checking out Tuesday November 11th. I'm not sure how I should book my stay, whether through the Disney booking website, or by calling a Disney travel agent. I have a current Disneyland AP and I'm not sure if that warrants any type of discount and I'm planning on getting a WDW AP when I get there (dreaming/planning on Princess '15) but would it be better to buy two day park hoppers to get the "vacation package" bundle so I don't have to pay the full AP price now and upgrade upon arrival or just book the hotel alone? Does anyone have any suggestions of how to go about this because I know ? I know because I want to get a WDW AP I shouldn't get my park tickets from run Disney but with so many questions and as we're getting closer and closer I know I should bite the bullet and start the booking process ASAP.

you get Magic Bands with a room only reservation as well, not just a package. I would suggest contacting a certified Disney Travel Agent. They should be able to help you decide which is your best option for you.

With working with mine, we booked a package at Coronado Springs with Free Dining (yay for long vacations). Upon arrival, I will be upgrading my ticket media to a Premier Pass as I am going to DLR the following weekend for the Avengers Half and again in January for the Star Wars Rebel Challenge Races.
