Official Wine & Dine 2014

This is crazy!
I think DH and I are going to bag it, and focus on the Princess 1/2. I was already having a hard time justifying the cost of a Nov trip and a Feb trip.
Hopefully they will have legacy stuff for the Princess 10K or the Glass Slipper because I actually got in on the beginning of that one.

Have they even mentioned if the Avengers is an official coast to coast?

Yes, it is on the list on their website
http://rundisney.com/coast-to-coast-race-challenge/

I thought about that, but with the races being only a week apart, I wonder how many are really hoping to sign up for a race in Florida followed by a race in California just a few days later. I'm sure there will be people who will do it, but I'm just not seeing a mass "run" towards that scenario.

Someone else suggested the anniversary medal, but honestly they just changed the medal last year. Are they really going to do anything that special this year?

I think it is coming more from the drama that surrounds some of these other races filling up so quickly trickling down.

Who knows, it could stay at 92% for a while.

I specifically wanted to do it this year because of it being an anniversary year and the possibility of a medal redesign. I was really disappointed they redesigned it last year, because that makes me think the chances for a special medal this year are pretty low. Plus, I'm not really crazy about last year's redesign. I love the Spaceship Earth background on my other one.

I definitely agree that I think it's the hype surrounding how quickly the other races fill up and now it is affecting W&D.

I am SO excited! This will be my first runDisney event!

I have been having a horrible time getting motivated to run since my last half marathon TWO YEARS ago. This is just the motivation I need!

I am SO excited. I signed my daughter up for a kid's event too. Just one of the "dash" events, but I think she will enjoy it.

So excited to find the official group! I will be a solo runner, but I think my daughter and husband will come along for the hotel stay to enjoy some sunshine in November! :beach:

I know, right? I am not believing it.

I am wondering if a bunch of people are trying to do c2c with the new avengers race? How many of those folks will be disappointed when that race sells out quickly?
And now it's 95%!!!! I am really surprised by this!

I think you might be onto something with the Coast 2 Coast idea...that + the anniversary thing.

I hope they DO change the medal this year...since I ran the race last year! :rotfl2: I was SO sad and surprised when they released the medal re-design last year, just because I really wanted that classic SSE medal from previous years. I do love last year's but I'd be a little disappointed if it didn't change much from last year to this year. We shall see!

Not a possibility for this year but hopefully next year. For me, this would the only conceivable way to get a Coast to Coast. Flying from here in the UK, it would cost far too much for to travel all the way to Orlando for 1 race, fly back home and fly back out to California in a few months time. We are a family of 5, on a budget. Still didn't stop me suggesting I take a solo trip or 2 though :rotfl2:

Strangely, I like the newer medal. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the original one, especially compared to some of the medals for other Disney races. They are all so much prettier!!

Also, can someone tell me what is meant by legacy?

Make that 95% :( This is really frustrating. I'm all registered for the 1/2 and the 5k, but I have a friend who might miss out waiting to get her paycheck at the end of the week. I know it's a combo of the 5th anniversary, the C2C with Avengers, etc., but I wasn't expecting it to be quite this bad.

:( Can you spot your friend the money or can she put it on a credit card? Because I have a feeling the half is going to sell out today.

I just signed up for the 5K! My first one! My husband did it last year and this year he will be doing the half!
I'm so glad I had checked the web page this morning and saw 92% sold out! I wasn't going to register this early thinking I wouldn't need to!
Just checked and it's at 98%! Crazy!!

Super excited though!!

As others have said, if you can spot her the $$, or she has a way to charge it and pay it off right away, I would.

It's gonna be full by the time she gets a paycheck.

I'm thinking it will sell out today also. A friend of mine was going to wait another day or two to register, but she got on it as soon as I told her it was at 92%. With it already at 98%, I just don't see it lasting much longer.

I am selfishly hoping they don't do a spectacular anniversary medal this year bc I'm trying so hard to sit this one out. I really promised my family no races on our next trip and I can't afford to do a separate trip just for this race this year. I really should have deferred last year but my sister wanted to do it (and then backed out!). I am hoping that if the medal is really great, that I can get in with a charity group.

I'm honestly surprised at how fast this sold out. It's a great race, but I would have thought avengers half would have appealed to the same group. I guess more people want to do both than I thought. I don't think I could do both a week apart, not physically, financially, or professionally! I'm hoping for avengers 2015!

I'd also like to point out that either a bunch of people were swept at the races lately (several thousand) or a bunch didn't even start. I was expecting to see a higher number of finishers for princess weekend and it was less than 20,000 women and a few thousand men. I was led to believe that there were closer to 27,000 phm runners. I just hope that everyone that signs up so fast ends up running because there is such high demand.

I wish, but it was enough of a battle to pay for my entry. I think she's resigned to the fact that it'll be sold out soon. We're hoping she can still do the 5k, and if not, we'll get her a ticket to the post race party so we can at least have that together.

Oh I definitely think people will be going C2C with it. But with how close the races are in terms of time, and how far apart they are in terms of distance, I don't personally think there are that many people attempting the C2C between those two races to cause it to be selling out this quickly. I think it is contributing to it, but I think it is also that people are getting the idea that all the runDisney races sell out quickly, so they have to sign up ASAP. Because I know even last year it sold out much more quickly than the year before...although not this fast. Basically I think it is a combination of that and the fact it is an anniversary year. If I had to rank my theories on why it is selling out this quickly, C2C would probably be last on my list.

If your friend can't find a way to swing it before the check comes in there is always charity spots. Otherwise she is probably out of luck. Now at 98 percent looks like its going to sell out within the next hour, two at most.

I'm hoping to register for Avengers, and I'm already signed up for W&D. I think I will be ok physically. Avengers will likely not be a PR for me, but I don't think I will have a problem finishing. I hear you on financially and professionally though. I am a SAHM, so it is actually my Dh's "profession" that may be taking the hit. :(

Were a lot of people swept at Princess, or were there just not as many people registered? I remember after the Tink 10k, there was a lot of talk about a large number of people being swept--but I haven't heard much about "Mass sweepings" at Princess....

I have no idea about the sweeping at princess that's one of the reasons I posted that in case others know something that I didn't. I did just peruse the FB page and saw them say 24,000 princess runners but I thought I had heard more than that initially so I guess there were probably some did not starts too. Tink half finishers was smaller than I expected too, but I never heard actual numbers before the race results, so I figured that was just my expectations.

Wine in dine is a fantastic race- I think that's probably the main reason it's filling up. Word has gotten out! Darn it!
