Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Four weeks until I can start packing so the lists are being started or added to. Stuff to pack, stuff to buy before I leave, stuff to buy at Target when we get there and then a mental list of things I want to get while there - new minions slippers to replace the ones from May 2014, they are well loved, a starbucks disney parks tumbler and minnie ears with a navy bow, which I think is recently new.

I'm using packing cubes for the first time, mostly because it's the only way I can pack without my dog either getting bummed out or excited when the suitcase comes out. Nothing will go into the suitcase until a couple hours before I leave for the airport, taking a red eye which makes for a crazy evening. Luckily I'm off work at 3:30 normally and will hit the gym for one last run, shower, eat dinner and pack.

I'm also hopefully to get back to running this week after 3 weeks off for my ankle. Hoping the massage Tuesday along with the rest and stretching will help. Thursday I ended up walking rather than running, so we'll see how it is tomorrow. It only hurts when I run, not when I walk, so that's good at least I guess.

While we always drive to WDW, when we've flown to Disneyland - we've just packed everything in the suitcase. I guess in the worst case - we would end up buying replacements at the expo from Fit2Run (where we buy our shoes at home anyway) and same goes for clothing or we could always go to a nearby mall.

We also fly in on Tuesday before the races so that should be amble time for an airline to try to fix the issue.

No tags here yet, but I just remembered to sign up for Magical Express a couple days ago, so that's why. Hopefully they'll come within a couple weeks. We're scheduled to arrive on Thursday the 3rd.

I cannot believe how fast it's coming up! We're probably only a couple weeks away from the event guide/waivers/corrals. Perhaps the week after this coming week? ;) I'm so excited, but am also starting to get a bit nervous. After the huge letdown of the half of a half last year, the weather is weighing heavy on my mind. If it rains, it rains and I'll deal, but I could not deal with another cancelled or shortened race.

On another note, what is everyone's departure date? Is anyone else not staying for the after party and having to leave on Sunday like me? I'm not complaining, since I'm grateful just to have been able to get Thursday and Friday off, but I'm a bit bummed to not have the post-race park time for medal photos. I'm hoping to be able to have time to get over to Disney Springs in the afternoon after cleaning up and checking baggage to get some photos there since our flight isn't until 7:55.

No tags for me either. My mail seems to run a day or two behind everyone else's though, so I'm not concerned.

I was going to come home Sunday night and skip the party, but I said "heck with it!" and took Monday off anyway. It will end up being my only park time in 2016 (in a US park).

This will be my first completely solo trip too. I'm really looking forward to it, even though I know I'm going to miss my family.

No luggage tags for me yet, but I think I'm just going to do carry on anyway. No way would I check my running stuff. Princess weekend this year I was in the lobby at OKW and there were two ladies there at the desk saying that their luggage had been lost by the airlines will all their running gear inside. That's my worst nightmare!

I always do a small carry on with my running shoes and outfits, body glide, gu, and water bottle.

That is a lesson that seems to have been instilled in me since I first visited this part of the boards. Always pack your gear in your carry on. Better safe than sorry.

I was so excited for a short 4 miles this weekend...last week I started noticing my achieles was sore. Of course I brushed that aside and attempted my 4 miles (decided just to walk, though) and 3 miles in I developed stabbing pain in the same general area. ABANDONED the last mile. I am so bummed as I have a half this weekend that I was looking at potentially setting a PR at...now I am wondering if I will even be able to walk it to get my mileage in. I am taking the week off from any running or walking. SIGH

As for packing. My list is made and but my opened suitecase in DD room (she is away at college) and starting to add things in it as I go along. T-shirts are almost finished as well as a couple of custom ears that I am doing. One custom sparkleskirt has arrived and waiting on the lthe other one and my costumes are ready! Trying to make one last big earning push with perktv and swagbucks...

Must get new shoes!

As for carry on...yep I carry race outfits and shoes on...I have put lots of time thinking and planning outfits not to have them.

Those of you who received your bag tags. When do you arrive? This will be a kid free trip for my wife and I and don't want them to find these in the mail. We aren't ready to tell them yet that we are going without them. :-)

I arrive on 11/2 and actually got my tags a really long time ago. I'm starting to doubt myself now and have to check them when I get home lol.

I did get a letter a couple of days ago though about my return trip.

I got my letters and bag tags Friday. Realized that we get in after 11 on the second, so can't use them anyway. Final trip payment applied today!
We leave in 30 days!

There is a course map posted on halfmarathons dot net. Anyone know if these are accurate?

I am going to say it is not accurate. The event description still lists it as a night race with the 5K preceding it in the morning.

The course also looks quite similar to what we've ran the past couple of years. I was pretty sure there would be some course alteration due to all the construction in the Studios and Animal Kingdom.

Good looking out though!! Hopefully soon!

I searched the USATF website today...no course maps yet. Hopefully we'll get some info this week! :)

For the last several rD races with new courses, the USATF certifications didn't appear until very close to the race dates. In fact, for Star Wars Dark Side, they weren't posted until 2-3 days prior to the race. Most likely, you will see the course from the event guide first.

WARNING: I am an over-packer. This may be WAY more than most need...:teeth: Hopefully it doesn't seem overwhelming...

I try to fit all of this into my carry-on to be safe.

Expo:
- $$$ for expo purchases - official runDisney merchandise can be paid for with Disney giftcards, for everything else bring cash/credit cards
- Annual Pass/DVC membership info/Disney Visa to get discount on official runDisney merchandise
- Signed race waiver(s) for bib and packet pick-up
- ID (driver's license, etc.)
- Order confirmation(s) for any pre-ordered merchandise

Race Stuff:
- shoes
- socks
- running bottoms
- running undergarments
- running top(s)
- Garmin/GPS tracking device and charger
- Magic Band...you know, so you can get back into the room afterward!
- Head gear (headband, visor, etc.) --> I'd put headphones here but I don't run with music at Disney
- Running sunglasses
- Throwaway clothes, if needed - to wear to keep warm before race(s)
- Sweat- and water-proof sunscreen
- Body Glide...!!!
- Race day breakfast(s) - I bring what I need from home (bagels, plastic knives and travel-sized packages of peanut butter)
- Disposable coffee cups with lids, along with creamer - I make coffee in the room and take it with me to the corrals
- In my pockets during each race in a Ziploc baggie: some cash, an extra hair tie and a small packet of Kleenex.
- For half marathon - race fuel (Honey Stiner waffles for me)
- A plastic grocery bag for the finish area, to carry all of the stuff they give you (banana, Powerade, water, snackbox, etc.) --> recent addition to my packing list that has been SUPER helpful
- Most importantly: Something to take pictures with on the course (i.e. phone). If I forget this, I'll weep.

Post-race:
- The Stick/foam roller (The Stick is easier for travel though)

Always be prepared!!! :teeth:

Thank you so much!!! You hit a few items I didn't have on my list. I almost feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas to hurry and get here. LOL!!!

Same here! :hyper:

Anything I'm missing from my list that is on yours? :flower3:

Arm band or running belt
Safety pins for my bib
Epsom salt in case I need for a bath to help with soreness
Zip lock bags in case I need to use for ice pack (probably not for a 10k but just in case)
Oooooh you did help me with one that I forgot - I use RaceDots for my bibs (FYI, you do get safety pins at the expo).

Thanks!! :)

I pack a lot too, here's a few I can remember that are different I think
- Nesquick chocolate milks (they don't have to be refrigerated)
- Tiger balm (&/or biofreeze)
- Vaseline
- Garbage bags (in case raining)
- mylar blankets
- hair items (pony tail holders, clips, bobby pins, etc)
- ear headband (in case it's freakishly windy/cold, which it shouldn't be but just in case)
- snacks & breakfast items - a few different things in case I'm just not feeling like plan A I can eat plan B
- Compression leg sleeves
- ace wraps (just in case something needs wrapped at some points)
-bandaids, gauze, alchole wipes, neosporine (hey you never know what can happen
