Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I rmember for 2014 Tink- it was the first year for the special pink C2C and they were letting people sign up early for both Tink and Princess for the medal. Then after regular registration opened they added the 10k, but didn't make it a challenge with the extra medal until 2015. I wonder if we will see a similar situation. And in both cases, it struck me as odd that all these things weren't announced a little better. I mean, it's not like adding races is a surprise to them that they suddenly have to scramble to get the info out.

I know it's a little annoying, could be just a copy and paste mistake but it has the dates starting Nov. 2, Wednesday...Who knows, the waiting is hard....probably will just be the same which is fine, but accurate info. anyday now would be nice.
I guess we will know when runDisney tells us, but speculation is a fun way to pass the time! I find the Wednesday start day interesting. Most of the time the expo starts the day before the first race, which makes me wonder if we are looking at a Thursday 5k, Friday night 10K and Saturday night half (and I'm guessing parties after the 10k and half because hey- more money for Disney) To speculate even further- I wonder if the 5k will also switch to night ala the retired Everest 5k to fill that void

I remember them doing that with the Tink 10K - I thought it was so bizarre that they didn't make it a challenge that first year.

And yeah, their communication is TERRIBLE. They have all of these social media accounts but rarely post anything of substance.

I think expo starting Wednesday and then 5K Thursday, 10K Friday and half staying Saturday night is a good guess. :confused3

The speculation is just fueling my addiction! LOL. I would love to see a 10k

So I called runDisney, knowing they wouldn't actually give me any information...but I wanted to register how...displeased, I guess, I am that the prices are not posted yet.

The person I talked to put me on hold, and then came back and said that the prices would not be posted until registration begins. I'm sorry, what?

I told her (as nicely as I could) that this seemed pretty unusual to me, and that I've done a few runDisney races before and that I'd always known the price about a week ahead of time...and that it would be nice to know now since these races are expensive, and I wanted to sort of be ready for it. She didn't really know what to say to that. Granted, I know this is someone that works in the call center and not REALLY a runDisney employee...but she could have given me a better answer than that.

Super not impressed with runDisney right now.

That is SUCH bull. However, all of us who have to register with the general population have the heads up because all the AP registers can tell us what the pricing is! ;)

I'm the writer of the blog that kinda broke the news today. I've been told we will have official information on Monday. But... you know how rD rolls. Ha.

I've also heard--- dun dun dun--- that it's going to be TOTALLY different than previous years. Like, night and day different. Ahem.

So. Now we wait and see if those rumors/sources are true.

@Keels sent me the link yesterday and there's been speculation of them adding a 10K/challenge for months now...:confused3

Broke what "news"? That the dates are funny on a webpage and it also lists a 10k? How is that "news" when you have nothing except the same speculation that EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THIS THREAD has talked about for weeks and now months?

Congrats on the blog hits, though.

Okay, cool.

I didn't come over here and drop a link and run, so this response is pretty rude. I noticed the hits from disboards and thought I'd check it out. That was my only intention.

I'll go back to lurking. Have a great day.

If you've heard that it's going to be "night and day" different, why don't you write or post about that? I'm being serious. That would be news. RD doing something halfway, incorrect or not even at all is not news. It's your observation, but it's not news. And it's definitely not breaking news.

This thread, if you had actually been a participant instead of a drive-by poster, is full of constant fact-checking of the RunDisney site in relation to this event.

Have a good one.

@Keels Seems to me you are out of line with your response. Longhorns is a well respected blogger with runDisney info. I went back to page one of this whole thread and noticed on page 7 speculation was brought up about a 10k. That was 1 month ago and no active link was provided. If you and Ariel knew the link yesterday why didn't y'all post it and start the rumor mill in full force. Facebook running groups were quiet about this until Longhorn's blog came up. Team RunDisney (largest rD group I know of) admin didn't even post the active info until last this afternoon. Rumors create excitement which rD needs now since Rudy is out for Tink.

I have a TA that I am bugging for my other races, and this one too. They have told me they know NOTHING. Truly NOTHING. Because they know I like my payment plans...and usually are good about letting me know what the deal will be. So I dont know what change is happening but if the race is to go on sale for AP/DVC/Agents this week...they need to figure it out soon.

Just had a panicked checking of my resort booking and I have myself arriving on the Wednesday, so I'm good if they make changes! :yay:

Going to be an exciting week - hearing what the plans are for this race AND the NYC lottery draw. I might be a little bummed if they announce a challenge and I miss the inaugural because I've gotten up for NYC - but I'll let the running gods decide what race I am doing that weekend :worship:

sounds like a bunch of speculative nonsense doubt they change anything.. also if they make it a morning race they are taking away the part that makes it an extremely popular race

Wow, this escalated quickly. I also read and don't really post but this whole interaction seems a bit unnecessary. Reporting on speculation is done every day on social media. Is there a rule here that says we can only discuss facts and not speculate? She stated she came here because she saw a lot of traffic coming from here. She didn't come to promote her blog at all. You didn't need to be rude and attack her. Her blog, is HERS, not yours, so she can report on what she sees fit.

Congratulations on your constant fact checking of a website that is known to have a ton of inaccuracies. In my experience with rundisney and social media, things get out faster and more accurately through blogs and other avenues than they hit the website. A perfect example is WDW SW - that was announced on blogs even before the tweets were out and website was updated.

I had the exact same thought!

I so agree with this!

Still no new info  but here are last year's prices. This has always been the most expensive half marathon at WDW since registration includes the after party ticket.

I'm especially curious to see what they do after the crazy price increases they implemented for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend events. Both the half marathon and Dumbo Double Dare are still open, so have they finally hit the ceiling on what people are willing to pay?

Will they blow past the $200 mark for Wine & Dine or keep it under $200? HMMM...I feel like they WILL keep it under $200 - I've heard the California races are more expensive because there's more to do with closing Anaheim roads and whatnot (where WDW races are entirely on property), but if there was a half marathon at WDW that would pass the $200 mark, I think it would be this one.

Disney's Wine & Dine Half Marathon
$190 on or before March 31, 2015
$205 between April 1, 2015 - April 14, 2015
$220 on or after April 15, 2015

Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K
$65 on or before April 14, 2015
$75 on or after April 15, 2015

runDisney Kids Races (Dashes)
$15 on or before April 14, 2015
$20 on or after April 15, 2015

runDisney Kids Races (1-mile run)
$30 on or before April 14, 2015
$35 on or after April 15, 2015

I'm thinking that they may increase the price to 200 even maybe 210- especially if they have more races. Kind of test the waters more than one way so to speak.

$190 apparently is not the ceiling for this race, I remember the DVC early registration selling out pretty quickly, and if I recall correctly, didn't the general registration sell out pretty quickly too? In that case; at least perhaps for this particular race, the market is still willing to bear a little bit more money?

Man, if they add a challenge this year I'm going to be sad. I swore I was not running anymore Disney races after Tinker Bell until dopey....but more races equals more pretty shiny bling. Damn Disney sure knows how to part me from my money LOL

Let's stir the pot. Pun Intended.

What do y'all think about 5K in the am, 10K in the afternoon with the half in the evening. Would be a different challenge.
Like all on the same day? Hooooo boy. I'm not sure I'd be up for that!

I've heard that too - I also read a post on runDisney's Facebook page from someone that deferred their 2015 race. Deferrals are supposed to get a personalized link emailed to them 2 weeks before regular registration opens, so that would have been Tuesday. But those who deferred didn't get links and were told that "details are still being finalized." So they weren't even ready for that.

:confused3
