Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

At least they didn't make the course the same as the WDW/Princess one. I was sort of afraid they'd do that!

Yeah, that for sure knocks Wine & Dine down a notch in my book. I'm guessing the course will be the same as what it has been, but they have a lot of twists and turns that were in DHS that they'll need to make up now. :confused3
Well, maybe now there's something extra special to convince you to come to the Dark Side!

BOO.
So to run the half AND go to the party, I now have to hire a sitter twice on the same day? Or I pay $79x3 for my kids to attend the party and be miserable tired wrecks. More likely that I end up skipping the party, which is part of the experience I'll be paying for. Might not be that big of a loss though. One of the reasons the party has worked in the past was that the runners would stream in and out over several hours. Now everyone is going to arrive at once, which sounds to me like a GIANT cluster (think of what the lines were like last year).

We don't have a course map for Dark Side either - it could be the exact same as Wine & Dine in reverse with this new course.

:rotfl2: Maybe someday. Definitely not this year!

Yeah, the timing of the party just seems awkward now. One one hand - I'd actually be awake for it. On the other hand, it somehow doesn't seem as appealing...?

I'm surprised they didn't increase the registration fee. And you get a $15 giftcard...so if I'm looking at this correctly, that's $190 to register, but you get $15 of it back...so $175 net cost (assuming you remember to use the giftcard).

I was 100% set on doing the 5K and nothing else, but now with the 10K...hmmmm. Is there somewhere I can see the course for the 5K and 10K?

I'm guessing the course will be the 10K for the January Races & Princess Races - search Princess 10K Course and it should come up

Unfortunately, no. With the way runDisney has been doing things lately, I don't expect to see the courses until October at the earliest. Assuming the 5K course is the same as last year, you can google the 2015 course. 10K may eb teh same as the WDW/Princess 10K course (Epcot...no mention of the Epcot resort area), but we don't know for sure.

I am very excited! I prefer morning running (but say that with only doing the Everest challenge at night)! At least today was worth checking RunDisney at noon! I'll be hopefully getting in for the challenge! The themes are perfect I think!

I was iffy about this race per the 2015 snaffu with the weather.... (didn't rain at all at ESPN WWOS) but this I'm SO in for. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm very excited for this now! I love running in the mornings. The night race was fun, but I think after the last two years they kind of threw their hands up. Last year was just bad on so many levels....but I got to experience Osbourne Lights one more time, the night running, and the after party in the wee morning hours! Win for what it was.

Thank you, just had a look at those. I'm very tempted to register for the 5K and the 10K. I guess I'll see how I feel on the 29th, knowing my luck I'll be in labor on the 29th and miss registration altogether!

Which is more likely to fill up sooner, the 10K or the 5K? Wondering which to do first.

Well I for one am excited as by putting one of my husbands fav characters on the 10K he's agreed to run it!

The course sounds identical to the wine n dine course and now dark side- and since I love that course- sounds like rundis is getting a nice chunk of change from me for the challenge & 10K :)

So question for those that are not new to these......we weren't planning to fly in until late Thursday night and hit the expo at opening on Friday morning. Given now that the expo begins on Thursday, is it safe to say that everything will be sold out by Friday morning? :(

I'm glad to see the $15 gift card still included. I think honestly people need to lighten up , seriously it's a race not the end of the world. So much angst on FB, I just got called out for saying I like the morning idea. It's sad that it looks like Studios isn't included, but I will say after what happened last year I was worried about signing up this year if a night storm happened again. I was signing up no matter what, but still worried.

10K. Super popular distance for runDisney, it's an inaugural race (lots of people will want the inaugural medal), and spots will be taken up by challenge participants.

Hard to say. It's got inaugural events, so I think people may really want all of the stuff for that, but it sounded like they did a better job of re-stocking stuff at Princess this year...???
