I'm trying to find the DVC page to see what is on there but they keep moving things around there.
Yeeeesh. Don't even get me started on the DECISION MAKERS at RunDisney. They could use some feedback!!
On my flight to Princess I sat across the aisle from an older gentleman who SAID that he had worked for rundisney since just after the very first January marathon until last year. I tried hard to give him feedback, but everything I said was not something he agreed with. TOT coming back because it was awesome? He gave a solemn shake of the head saying "no". He's definitely NOT on my side of calling "finishers" medals "participant" medals and frankly I got the impression he'd like to go back to NOTHING for anyone but the actual winners. It was interesting talking to him, but he sure wasn't open to HEARING things. He did give me a WWOS pin, though.
And no, I'm still like "oh but there might be a new pretty shiny" as if RNR doesn't have medals. I mean, true true, they're not Disney medals....but some are quite ingenious.
I think that RnR medals are a million times better than Disney medals, personally.
The gentleman I just referred to said that RnR copies everything Disney does, but if they are, IMO they are doing it better LOL.
I feel like there's no way there could be bad weather for this race 3 years in a row... right??
It's that sort of thinking that got me to our first trip in December 2010, because surely it can't be freezing two years in a row in early December!!!
**Edited to add, I found it. It was in the event guide, page 16..."Packet Pick-Up will not be available on race morning.". And again this was for the full in Jan, so I can't say its the same for W&D and they might make exceptions that we don't know about, but this is what was said for Marathon weekend.
They do it. But for shirts you have to go to the expo.
http://www.active.com/lake-buena-vista-fl/running/distance-running-races/splash-and-dash-2016
So, here's a funny thing use this link with the "splash and dash" and see how it turns into wine and dine in the URL and redirecting to the active wine & dine page...
Now that's hilarious.
So I admit - I got a little rude, and was just like, "are you actually with runDisney, or is this more of a general Guest Services department?" and she said they are NOT runDisney, but they "help" with calls and whatnot.
Hopefully she'll give her higherups that feedback and they can change something. While being rude with people who can't do anything about it isn't awesome, it DOES get their attention, and maybe it can do some good in the future.
I feel bad, because I'm sure they are just staffing this call center with CPs or something, but it's INCREDIBLY frustrating to have next to no information about this. People have taken personal days, booked flights, etc...and these races are expensive. It's a lot of money to set aside. It's just insane what they are doing.
Absolutely totally insane.
He then informed me that they are going to be going away from providing a page with a link and sending out emails to passholders instead, since the system was being abused.
Now how could it have been abused in a way that won't be abused with an email? Their thinking is hilarious.
Just seems a little backwards for a place like Disney...."just do some research and plan ahead and your trip will be magical"......to make it nearly impossible for anyone to do just that. Research and plan.
It's what they've been doing ever since they rolled out that "plan like crazy well in advance" nonsense.
This just changed

Where IS the DVC page? What do I click on?
I've seen the DVC page, where they used to keep it LOL, not change from the last race until 5 minutes AFTER registration starts.... refresh refresh refresh...
2016 has been a hot mess for RunDisney.
So true.
They changed the Costume Rules literally as people were already on their trips for Marathon Weekend. They changed the set up for Star Wars - Light Side with the corral system. Princess barely got any info until right before the races.
Changing where the corrals were, you mean?
And ultimately what did the costume changes cause? I saw very little difference at SW. Fully dressed and face-covered stormtroopers (NOT the official ones) were still there. Long-ish robes and dresses. etc. Only thing I didn't see was people in boxes (tie fighters, etc). Fully extended, no-collapsable, expensive lightsabers being run with, too!
When do people do the "Finish Line Party"? It looks like it starts before the actual race--so do people go hang out there first and then run, or run, and then go there?
Non-runners get a ticket and go to the party after the start to wait for their runners.
