Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I apologize if this has been asked and answered already. Does anyone have any intel. on when Wine N Dine will be next year, 2017? Will it likely be first weekend of Nov. again?
We are planning a 5th birthday trip over or near Halloween 2017 and it's dawned on me that W&D maybe could align.

I'd hope they would have next year's dates in this year's event guide, so hopefully you'll get confirmation in about a month!

They usually post next year's calendar in early October, so we should be about a month away from knowing exact dates.

I kept thinking we're next too even though I also kept saying Paris is next...so next stateside sounds good since Paris is so different! I just can't wait till next month when we're all eagerly stalking for the course maps, event guide, waivers....hahaha!

So, I was offered a job at a different school in my same district today, and start right away on Monday. I'm definitely glad to have something again, since not having a job at all was majorly stressing me out, but I'm not sure what this means for my Wine and Dine trip. The hope to stay until Monday is basically gone now, but I'm really hoping they'll be flexible and at least let me take Thursday and Friday. Especially since this whole thing came about so quickly and they left me hanging for so long. I won't be starting out by asking right away on Monday, but I don't want to wait too long either.

@*DisneyDreamer glad you got a job, hopefully it will all work out for the trip!

@afan awesome running! Your body is getting more used to the running thing probably & your muscles & endurance have built up. Maybe cooler temps &/or lower dewpoint too?

I ran 12 today (longest run since dopey weekend for me & longest since last fall without walk intervals due to my piriformis injury). It was cooler too so that was grand but I have a shin splint/calf/foot problem that kind of just staled and wasn't getting better despite stretches/exercises so I decided yesterday & today to run in my compression leg sleeve again & boy was it lovely. I kept thinking it's a crutch and I shouldn't have to run with it so would wear it after sometimes but not during a run. Maybe it is relaxing my shin just enough that then relaxes my calf and in turns relaxes my foot - it's all connected and would all tighten up and be nagging. So hoping wearing it again helps in the long run. I figure better runners/athletes than me wear them so I need to just embrace the compression sleeve again. Other stuff started hurting of course but that's just because it was longer than I've been doing. Oh and I think I have my glute stretches down pretty good so my piriformis is keeping in check, go glutes! Why share all this, who knows but I enjoy reading about others training for the same race weekend.

Good job to all on training, hope your runs are going well too.

Finally bought my ticket for W&D. Better late then never! Praying my knee is good for Harrisburg tomorrow. I need to find a few last minute songs for my playlist.

A little cooler but it's Seattle so we normally always have humidity just when it's cooler out rather than when it's warm out. It was a hilly trail that I've only done once. I ran with a coworker again and joked to her it's because I needed to empty my bladder and it was distracting from everything else, haha. I think it's probably that I slowed down a bit from a high 13 low 14 avg to a mid to high 14 min avg because we were going farther. Or it was the frosted flakes I had for a snack before bed, there's an olympic track and field runner on the box :)

We found out last weekend that I am pregnant! It is a complete surprise since we had such a hard time getting pregnant with my son. Never thought it would happen again, but are so happy it did. I'm not really comfortable doing a half marathon while pregnant so we decided to just cancel the trip. Really bummed as we were staying in the GRand for the first time and trying some new restaurants I was looking forward to. Oh well, it's for a good reason.

Anyway, I already bought my daughter and sister a ticket to the after party if anyone if is need of two tickets.

I ran the Harrisburg Half this morning, and I know others from this group did as well. My race was not good! It was apparent early on that my knee was not going to cooperate. I had to slow things way down and do more walking than I would like. I amazingly convinced DH to run ahead without me. (I slow him down on a good day so today was not the day to stick together.) While the race was physically and emotionally tough, and my slowest ever, I finished, so that's something. I called off work tonight because I don't think I could handle standing for 6-7 hours on my knee. I feel horrible doing that, but my husband said I need to take care of myself so I can be in the rest of the week. DH thinks I need to try to get my knee looked at by a doctor so I will call tomorrow. I have another half on the books in two weeks, plus Hershey in mid October and Lumiere's Challenge, so I don't have a lot of rest time. But at least slow and steady got me through today's half!
