Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I would assume food booths and rides would be open for those with wristbands from 9-10 but the special stuff like any character meets, dance parties or whatever else wouldn't be until after 10/once the park is fully swept

Since my current job situation is still up in the air and I have no idea what I'll be doing come November, I just changed my flight down to Florida from Thursday evening to Thursday morning. So if I keep this plan, I'll now be able to go to the expo on Thursday and have some park time on Friday. :) The flight is scheduled to leave at 6:00 am ( :scared1: ) and arrive at 9:55, so if all's on time, I should be able to make it to the expo by noon or a bit after. I hope there's still some merchandise left by then. :confused3

Made my fastpasses Friday & online check in done! It seemed hard working out FPs for Frozen & Soarin' (both new for us) so feel like we'll be at EPCOT a lot but that's better than poor Studios without Rockin' it was easy picking Toy Story for that tier 1. and no Big Thunder either is a bummer.

I did my FP+ this morning too. Epcot is so frustrating with Frozen, Soarin and Test Track all tier 1. It's also hard when park hours haven't been updated. I'm hoping to see some of the AK nighttime stuff, but it is closing at 6 the day I'm planning to be there. :-(

Ditto ALL of this!! :headache:

I'm also trying to hold out hope that they may extend Club Villain into Nov (only bookable through Oct 31 at this point), and would want to have an evening for that... but WHO KNOWS?!?!

Just to make sure that I haven't been COMPLETELY asleep at the wheel here... we still don't have course maps, correct?? Any thoughts on when we will? Are we still anticipating an ESPN start and Epcot parking end, or a switch-up?

Had the exact same thoughts. I've taken Soarin' for now as I really want to see the new film, and am hoping I can get a manageable line for Frozen during the party. Am also more than a little bummed that they haven't brought back the Fastpass for Eat to the Beat. I really wanted one for Hanson.

We did Soarin' one day for our Tier 1 and Frozen on another day. I'm kind of questioning the days I chose, or at least the time for Soarin'. But we are doing dinner at Via Napoli on Saturday night so I made our FP for FEA before that. Figure if we want to do Test Track we can try to squeeze it in at the party. I'm really bummed about RnRc and Big Thunder. I kind of keep hoping that Thunder Mountain will open back up early. Just because it's my favorite!

Nope, you haven't missed anything. We probably won't see them until the event guide is posted, which will be in October based on how things typically go. So we've still got a few weeks to wait. But the RunDisney site still lists Wide World of Sports as the start and Epcot as the finish, so no reason to be thinking of a switch-up right now

Maybe & Maybe not...it's hard to tell. Magnets have sold out in day one for some races I know. But I know the abstract shaped magnets (not Mickey ear shaped ones) were at outlet stores for marathon weekend after, so those didn't sell out. Darkside weekend I think magnets were selling out as people were upset by the time they got there they were gone. So, yeah hard to tell, but magnets are popular items.

We aren't arriving until very late (flight lands after 10:30pm) Thursday night. I have to ask.....would anyone who will be at the Expo right when it opens be willing to snag me a magnet and race wine glass? I could pay for you to mail them to me or meet you the evening of the race at Epcot and buy you a drink for your troubles? This is my first 1/2 marathon AND first time running with runDisney. I'm bummed that we won't get to the Expo until day 2 bc it sounds like the 2 race souvies I had my mind set on (race weekend wine glass and race 13.1 magnet) very likely could be sold out already. If there is anyone willing to do this I'm ever so grateful. Feel free to PM me for contact info. Happy training everybody!! Its getting close. And getting REAL now!! :)

I'm hoping for an FEA fp for Saturday before our dinner ADR at Via Napolis too :) Our fp day is Monday, so at least it's a holiday and I can go back to bed when I'm done. Being on the west coast I wasn't happy when they changed the time from midnight. Our other epcot day we won't have fp's unless we get 4th or more, hoping to do stuff during the party. Especially because our Epcot night could turn into an AK night depending on ROL.

Yay booked all My FP+, and on the day of the race (Half) I've booked to see Mickey in the Town Square. :mickeyjum

A bit of extra motivation, as I so will be wearing my medal in that picture and I expect an extra big hug from Mickey for making it round.

Can't believe its nearly at the two month mark, scary but so exciting at the same time,

I've got a week off next week, heading to the Scottish Countryside so hoping to get some big runs in, in totally amazing surroundings.

We were at Epcot about 2 weeks after Frozen and Soarin' opened, on a Saturday, and only had FP+ for Soarin' mid-morning. On a lark, we decided to walk over to Norway upon arrival in the morning and the Elsa/Anna M&G had a 5-minute line (compare to a few years ago and people were waiting for six HOURS!), and Frozen Ever After showed a 45-minute wait, so we got in line. Our actual wait was more like 20-25 minutes (DH could tell you exactly how long because he likes to stopwatch wait times!) and we almost didn't have enough time to gawk at the details while in queue.

We were also at Epcot last Saturday and Soarin' had a 50-minute wait mid-morning and Frozen had a 120-minute wait. :confused3 So I guess it's a tossup on wait times for those two particular attractions, but if you can get to the park early enough, you might only need 1 FP+.

As for me, I've been procrastinating on booking our hotel - I was waiting for them to release AP-Holder discounts (the long-running late summer/early fall one was only through Nov 5), and now most everything except deluxe resorts are sold out even at rack rate. Looks like it'll be an off-property stay for us, which is fine, just really weird. I've always booked race weekends about 2 months out and could still get a room of my choice of resorts. But I guess with the F&W crowds on top of the race crowds, there isn't much left over. But that also means no advance planning FP+ for us that weekend, we'll be lucky to get any Tier 1 rides 30 days out. Oh well.

Last year we had a lot of trouble getting anything with the military discount. Hence our stay at Movies. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't really the right choice for our first adults only trip. It seems this time of year with the race, F&W Festival and Jersey Week, not to mention Veterans Day, it's just a little busier than we might all hope.

5K Parking Lot question........
This is the first time I've run a 5k at AK. It looks like part of the course runs the perimeter of the parking lot, at least in years past......with this in mind, does the lot close to self parking a lot sooner than the Epcot 5k's??
Thanks

Wish i could book FP+ but can't do so until a week out even though we are staying in site our plan at least post 10k which is the race me and DSis are running is to just try and get as many in park character photos as we can

Booked my FP+ this morning as well! Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework and didn't realize that the booking time had changed from midnight to 7 am until about 12:03 this morning! Sigh. But I was able to get what I wanted in generally the times that I wanted. It'll be a pretty short trip for me. Three park days but one day will have the expo and two will be the races, so no rope drop and no staying for evening entertainment until the party night. I'm trying to get up my mindset to be more relaxed about what I accomplish in the parks this trip and will try to focus more on atmosphere, etc.

Yes, makes picking TS easy...but I was super bummed to hear about RR because it is my favorite and I was planning a FP ride AND a single-rider line ride. Boooo.
