Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

The weather today is AMAZING (temps around 70, low humidity, and breezy) so I got out for a pretty decent run this afternoon. I sadly did not get in the 8 miles the training plan calls for this weekend, since I went to the park and it was pretty busy. I was getting a bit bored doing the same lap around the pond and I was sick of dodging and passing people. So I only got up to 4.5. :( But otherwise it felt pretty good and made me so excited for fall!! Hopefully this type of weather starts becoming the norm soon. It's going to warm up again this week and I think the humidity is supposed to go up again too though.

I did 8 Friday then 2 planned days off, this was my lower mileage week after higher the week before. I'm trying to be careful about not overdoing it as I have a habit of that & get overuse injuries. Isn't they saying better undertrained some then overtrained & hurt :) Our temps got a little cooler too & humidity went down so Yay for that, although I don't mind the heat as much since I despise the frozen cold more.

Enjoyed watching the marathons, so amazing the talent they have! I watched the 20k & 50k walks too, & that is just so unnartural looking to me it looks painful, however it's crazy how fast they go.

Good job getting the training going/done everyone! Still lots of time to put the work in now to have fun come November. Getting close to making Fast Passes for us also!!

My friend and I had our fp planning call today since it's the last day we could before our fp date on the 5th. I'm getting excited now that we have things finalized, even though Disney doesn't. I've about given up on rivers of light being there so we've adjusted things a bit and we'll switch if it gets announce but are totally fine without it.

I did the Leesburg (VA) 20k this Saturday. My top distance before then was 9.5, so it was nice to see I could finish 12.4 running the whole way (other than water stops). It was typical mid-Atlantic humidity, but I was saved by the fact that it was cloudy. No way I would have finished in the sun.

I am struggling with training. Mostly due to my new part time job, that's almost a full time job! LOL! While the money is useful for all the runcations I have planned, it has messed with my run schedule recently! Had planned a long run today and they changed my hours from 2-11pm to 8:30am-5:30pm. So, no long run this morning. It is nicer for having to be there at 6:30 tomorrow am, but neither day gives me time for a long run. My last long run before my 9/11 half will be next weekend and that's making me nervous for Harrisburg. But either way we'll get through it. I'm running with my husband who has not run more than 4 miles since he retired from the Marine Corps. But he's probably better at sucking it up and getting it done than I am! LOL! Should be good times!

You are definitely not alone with struggled. I'm struggling too, partially from the weather and having to run inside and partially because of my work schedule. The mornings are starting to get cool enough I can try and get a run in, but most of the time it still gets too hot. Then I went and got heat exhaustion the other day which put me out of commission for a few days. Hoping to get a decent elliptical run in before I go on a vacation in a couple days.

I have a coworker who is also running and she's barely been running to so I guess we're bonding over that struggle some more! Either way, at least we have some training and we'll be able to put that to work!

My knee is really bothering me today. And the weather is gorgeous and I can't run outside because I have no childcare so I have to go to the gym to the darn treadmill. I am struggling in spirit today. And physically I guess. I don't know if it's standing for the second job or the treadmill running, as both are new, but my knee is really acting up and it worries me with such a busy race schedule this fall. I better buy stock in KT Tape! I'm off to tape and hope it feels well enough to run on the treadmill this morning. Otherwise maybe elliptical?

Nothing yet has been posted anywhere. I don't think we'll see anything till the event guide comes out a few weeks before.
Agreed...we won't see it until the event guide comes out, unless someone stalks the USATF website and sees it there first. Either way, I'm not expecting to see anything before early October.

Have you tried lightly massaging your knee & the muscles around it? Wonder if something is tight & pulling causing the knee pain. But....here's pixie dust well wishes that you can feel better & get more spirited on your running! Just think happy thoughts!!!!!

Last week I was running in 90+ degree weather. This morning I got up and ran in 68 degrees. It was beautiful.

Oh KT tape... I was using that before it hit the mainstream. I'd have tape everywhere; legs, shoulders, knees.

If your knees are bothering you then I would try and keep it a bit easier and try and get them feeling better before really pushing it. I mix elliptical days with treadmill/outside days just to give my knees some relief. I've also used fish oils to keep them and other joints lubricated and icy hot to help the muscles. However, every one has their own specific thing so once you figure out what's best for you, keep to that!

I'm jealous! It was over 100 when I ran yesterday. :faint: Shoot, I'd be happy to see 75 at this point, lol!
:faint: I've said it before, but I don't know how you do it.
Saturday it was 88 degrees during my run. :faint: This morning it was 55! I was actually - gasp! - chilly!
I cannot wait for these days to become more common. I just yesterday saw a fall outlook forecast that's predicting a change in the pattern in the jetstream that will lead to a cooler than average fall for the northern part of the country. I don't know how reliable it is, but I'd like to believe it will be true!

I haven't tried massaging it, but was thinking I may do some stretching tonight to see if I can loosen it up. Thank you for the happy thoughts!

I skipped a run today. Planned to walk my kids to the park, but forgot my oldest had football practice at a different time today so we stopped at the park by his school after we dropped him off. I'm taped up for now and will likely ice tonight. I finally gave in and took some Advil too. Hoping I can get out and run Thursday though. If not I will try the elliptical. I am supposed to do my last long run for the Harrisburg Half this weekend so I need to get to feeling better. Maybe I will pick up some fish oils. I take no vitamins what so ever so maybe it's time to start.

I had to put on a sweater this morning, in my house. It was deliciously, perfectly chilly!

Is this the same as the Farmer's Almanac saying it's going to be the worst winter ever??????

No, I think this is something different. I did hear about the Farmer's Almanac predictions though. Apparently they said the same thing last year, and we did not have a bad winter, which is why I don't really believe that one. I guess we'll see!
