Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I haven't tried massaging it, but was thinking I may do some stretching tonight to see if I can loosen it up. Thank you for the happy thoughts!

Recently I was having issues with my knee as well- An athletic trainer I work with suggested stretching more in the Hamstring and rolling out the IT areas as sometimes things pull in the direction they're not supposed to due to their tightness (aka tight IT= knee pulling incorrectly)..

It was 68 degrees for my run this morning and it felt amazing!! 10 degrees cooler than any run I've done in the last 2 or 3 months. My legs were super tired from the increased mileage lately but I felt like the temperature made a huge difference cardio effort-wise.

Jealous of all you peeps with cooler temps. Normally when I get up to run its been about 75 pre humidity but yesterday it was 80 pre humidity and that's at 6am it only gets hotter from there ☀️

No, I think this is something different. I did hear about the Farmer's Almanac predictions though. Apparently they said the same thing last year, and we did not have a bad winter, which is why I don't really believe that one. I guess we'll see!

I personally am hoping winter is kind to us as its my first northeast winter!

Thank you for sharing! I stretched my hamstring and rolled with a big pool noodle we have and it seems to have helped. Feeling much better today so I will stretch and roll some more and hope I can do an easy run tomorrow. My oldest will be home in the am so I should be able to run outside and enjoy the cooler temps too!

Less than 2 days until the York Rail Trail 10 Miler. 4th consecutive year for me. All 3 prior have seen finish times within 20 seconds of each other. Hoping to go just a little faster this time. First time DW is running it. We signed up because her training plan called for 10 miles this weekend. What better way to do it than with race support (water, etc.) and on a path we know well.

Almost FP time.

So the weather said low 80s tonight for DS football practice...allowed myself to sleep in and not run this morning before work...now we have wicked rain storms! Where was that weatherman in your forecast? Looks like no short runs for me this week...I have to get it together.

Well it looks like I am out. :sad1: I was going to be running the challenge with a charity group, but despite efforts for the past 2 months, I have raised absolutely nothing (aside from my $50 registration fee). I can't afford to be on the hook for much if I don't raise it all and this is the last week I can back out of my commitment for the fundraising requirement.
That is as long as they can find a replacement runner for me. So if anyone is looking for a challenge bib, Alex's Lemonade Stand is about to have an opening.

I'm sorry to hear that about the charity. :( But if you still want to run, check with travel providers too. They require a hotel stay and park ticket with an entry, but if you need those things, it's worth looking into.

Ran my 7 miles with a friend this morning. It's a nice change of pace to have someone to chat with while run/walking that doesn't mind the intervals. I wouldn't want to do it all the time though.

Finally a decent running temperature in Louisiana! 74 when I started and 76 when I finished.

Now if I can get that next weekend for my long training run. (Without more rain)

Brian

Good job all getting the training done! Hot summer miles = fast fall times! our at least we can hope, right!?

We heated back up..did my 11 yesterday but it was pretty humid & warmer than I thought it was going to be (then next week I'll cut back some, I like doing the alternating thing with building up & cutting back).

Interesting kind of run...a creepy white kidnapper type van started following me really close so I got my pepper spray ready and had a plan of darting into someones yard, but then he pulled into a driveway and turned around. Not sure what he was up to but it sure got my adrenaline going to where I felt sick for awhile, maybe he was testing his van or lost or afraid to pass me but it was way creepy.

Then a lady stops me to see if I had seen her dogs, nope, but later after I was done I hoped on Facebook & there's a pic of 2 dogs matching her description that had been found with a phone number, so I called, but dumb me didn't get the ladies number, but I knew the street she lived on so the dog finder headed there and I did too & we found the house and reunited the dogs! So that was a good ending, but reminder to get a phone number next time someone asks about lost dogs.

Got the hours for our trip to be ready to figure out fastpasses next week!

I thought about that but I don't need the hotel since I'm local, and a small part of the reason I decided to go through a charity was because I couldn't afford the race registration at the time. I was thinking I'd be able to raise money for a good cause and run, so win-win. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working out that way. *sigh* Perhaps I can try again next year!

I hope it works out for you next year!

Did 11 miles today with my running group, of which I am the instructor, which means I have to run with the slowest member of the group. It has been interesting for me because this entire training has had me running a full minute slower per mile than I would on my own. Very interested to see what type of race time this translates to, for my scheduled 1/2 Marathon on the 18th of September.

Since I assume most of us can make Fastpass+ reservations as of late next week, does anyone want to make guess about whether or not Star Wars Fireworks will still be happening at HS??? Really trying to plan my park days, and definitely want to see these if they'll still be happening.

"They" say running slower on long runs pays off...you'll have to let us know how you do on the 18th!

I hope they are but yeah wish they would list it for picking evening parks. We tend to usually use our fastpasses in the am so our evening park is more on the fly since we most always hop. We saw them in Jan but that was the old version so we really want to see the new hyped up version.

I hope so! They were really good fireworks, though I haven't seen the new version.

I've been following the star wars thread on the theme parks board and it's almost certain that the fireworks will continue through at least the end of the year. They've been updating park hours about a month prior, and it's figured that October hours and dessert party will be released this week. It's annoying because the dessert party is the last thing I need to secure for the trip.

Rivers of Light on the other hand doesn't seem that it will be there, though hours may still be extended for AK. My friend and I have opted to make our AK night an Epcot night and if things with ROL change then we'll adapt our plans.

Our fp date is labor day, which is good since it's a holiday I can go back to sleep after I've been up doing fp's at 4am.
