Anyone tried playing the Spiderman 3 game for the Wii yet? We have Spiderman 2 for the GC but wondered how this compared?

My 7 & 9 yr old sons tried playing the Spiderman 3 game on Wii and said that they didn't like it because it was hard because they had to move the controller too much to do things. They rented it for Playstation 2 and liked it much better, and said it was easier to control. They have played the game for hours on PS2

That's basically what I've heard too. they had the chance to make the game super cool, but they rushed it out for the Wii.

This is probably a really dumb question, but can you play a Wii game using the GC controller?

Also anyone get Mario Party 8? I picked one up today but won't give it to the kids until probably tomorrow as they have too many activities and homework tonight. Of course I won't even be able to tell them I have it or they'll rush thru things to be able to play it so it'll stay my secret for now.

My son got Zelda Twilight Princess for GC for Christmas, which he has since completed the game. In Feb when shopping at Costco they had the Wii in stock but it was bundled with Zelda TP and Excite Truck. It was the first time I'd seen it in stock anywhere and we went ahead and got it. So... we don't need 2 of the same game even if they are for different systems, but which one would you trade in? My son wants to trade in the Wii game because he says it's harder to play, but since he completed the GC version, I say that one. The difference in trade in value is $2 so it doesn't really matter in that respect.

Went out this morning before work to Target and Walmart and neither had Mario Party 8 in yet - said they would get them in sometime today and now I'm stuck at work.

DS(11) told me that if I can't find Mario Party 8 after work, I don't need to come home.

I can only play one or two levels at most before I have to stop because of all the rapid arm movement for the non-stop sword fighting!

No you can't play Wii games with any other controller besides the Wii-mote.

Hopefully DH picked up Mario Party, if not we'll get it tomorrow.

I would trade in both if he (or no one else) is going to play it. If there's even a slim chance he might want to play through again, I would keep the Wii version for sure! Maybe after playing some other games, he won't think it's so hard.

Yup, played it last night with DS(11). I liked it alot. I takes almost exactly 1 hour to play 10 rounds with 4 players - two real players and two computer players.

I like the fact that the board is a lot more 3D - ish then the previous Mario Party games. Although, I don't remember ever seeing or playing Mario Party 6 or 7 so the 3D ish effect may not be new but it was new to me.

There are lots of different boards to play on - I watched DH and DS play the real estate board where you go around buying hotels and getting stars for doing such. I played the haunted house board last night and really liked that one - you actually move in and out of different rooms.

Of course the mini-games are much more fun with the Wii remote than playing them on the Gamecube.

I think it's worth the money to buy it. I know we will be playing it a lot.

Are the controls clunky at all? The reviews we've read said that the game doesn't use the Wii-motes as well as say Wario Ware.

I haven't played Wario Ware but I did notice that I had a hard time on some of the mini games because I couldn't do what I was suppose to do with the Wii mote (i.e. like moving it back and forth - it's very touchy, you have to do it a certain way and I was turning my wrist too much and not doing it the right way) but then again I'm not an avid player like say DS(11) who has no problems whatsoever.

My kids love it but it is their first Mario game so we don't have anything to compare it to. Circuit City has it on sale for $39 this week instead of $49 everywhere else in case you need something else to make your decision even more difficult yet!

I haven't played MP8 yet but my 2 kids (9 and 11) have enjoyed playing it since I gave it to them late last week. Before it came out they weren't real excited about owning it but they are glad I got it now.

DS is 6 and asked for a Wii (and Mario Party 8) yesterday. He just received his first gaming system last Christmas (a Gamecube) then we gave him a DS Lite for his birthday in Feb. He's pretty good with the few games we have.

So I went online to see how much Wii's cost and can't find any retail store selling them, only eBay and individuals. How much do they cost retail? Do they come with all of the pieces and parts, or do you have to buy additional controllers, memory, etc.?

Can someone give me a tutorial on Wii's like you're speaking to a 5 year old, please ?

Is he too young for one? Is it too big of a jump from a Gamecube and DS to a Wii? If he gets one, it won't be until Christmas (unless he saves half of the money himself). He'll be almost 7 then.

Finally, what's so special about Mario Party 8? The only Mario games we have so far are Super Mario and Mario Kart. He is obsessed with Mario Kart.

My five year old neice is pretty good at Wii bowling. She took to it pretty well.
Costco has bundles right now that come with Mario Party too. And your son can play his game cube games on the Wii aswell.
Its fun. Its more social than any other system. Lots of games that everyone can play together which is great.
Im not good at the other systems but this one, even if I do really bad I want to try again.

Truly, I don't mind restating things in the FAQ, it just reminds me to keep it up to date.

And one more thing...DH and I both highly recommend that parents that feel comfortable buying the newest system, do so. There's nothing worse than selling a dead system (no more games being made) to a parent who expects the system to last the family for years. I applaude your decision to get the 6 year old a GC first though! It's good to build up to spending the big bucks to get the latest thing. Think of a purchase of the latest system as an investment for many years to come, whereas the GC is a toy that will only be viable for a short time.

I also personally think that 7 is the perfect age for this system. The games will mostly be perfect for him (not all rated Mature or Teen like the other systems tend to be.)
