No problem!

I'm waiting for MP8 and Pokemon also!!!

do your kids have pokemon for the ds?? If so do they use the wi-fi online features for tradeing and battleing??? I'd love to add some friends to battle against!((and when the Wii game releases I may need friends for that also!))

My kids both just got pokemon pearl and diamond. We have not used the internet connection and I know nothing about it. We can trade ?battle? and friends?

Sorry I have no idea.:confused3 but if you give some info my kids may be able to figure is out!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

So far I just bowl....Pro ya know:laughing:

TheHornedKing,
Maybe you can help me, we can't get our DS to work with our wireless router. Seems like DS don't support wireless router password encreption? No problem with the wii, hooked it up, it searched and connected.

TIA

Ok let me see if I can answer both of these questions...
The ds does in fact support encrypted signals you just have to get into set up.
Most games that have a wi-fi feature will allow you to get into wi-fi settings...where you will have to set up(imput) the password....if not I do believe that you can get to that from the ds menus(turn the system on without a game if you have it set to directly go into game mode when powered on) if not just click the little menu button on the touch screen.

Now that said you may also have to adjust your router settings.. inorder to get my Ds to work I had to switch my security settins from an open source to shared(which is interesting since it's more secure this way)...you'll have to look at your routers manual to see how to get to that option. It's different with each router.

as for pokemon....

1) you need to be far enough into the game for this to work.(I believe jubilife city?) It's the first big city in the game really...the one with the tv station(your kids will know what I'm talking about)

2) It will not just let you battle against random people online (safty feature since there are som many kids and adults playing) you have to have freind code...kida like the wii friend code.
This code can be found on thier pal pad in the key items pocket of their bag in the menu. this is also where they can imput others numbers . ( note both people must be registured on eachothers systems to be able to trade/battle against one another.) (and online at the same time)

3) the place to plink up for play is in any pokecenter in any town. I believe the wi-fi battles are on the basement level. (local 2 people playing on a ds next to each other- battle/trade system is upstairs. You do not need to registure for this)

One of the coolest Wi-fi things you can do is....in the first big city again there is a GTS station(big building on left of town) there you can search for pokemon you want to trade for or put a pokemon up for trade and ask for something in return((you do not need to be connected for the trade to occure- example I put one up and then 6 days later went back and was given the pokemon that I had asked for in return))

After beating the game there are other wi-fi things you can do.

The Wii version will have random online battles...the one thing I wish Diamond/Pearl had.

Hope these answer the questions you guys posed...if you need more help just ask away I'll do my best!

Any news or info on the DS browser that comes out 6/4? It seems like a really small screen to view the internet on and I don't think we would even need this but I am curious about it.

Also my son has Diddy Kong of the DS, and we have a wireles router so how does the online game work?

Rented the new Pirates game yesterday for the Wii for DS(11); took it to him after work (5:30) and this morning at 8:00 he said he had already beaten the entire game. That's a record for him - less than 24 hours and he's already done.

So glad I didn't buy the game.

I still don't think it's necessary to buy the browser for the DS.

As for Diddy--every game does something differently with the WiFi connection. He'll probably be able to race with other people from all over the world. That's what you do with Mario Kart.

Wow! No kidding! I'm glad you didn't drop $50!!

The Wii game or Ds game? hahaha never mind you mean the Wii!!! I read DS as the game system not dear son.

It's not unusual for movie based games to be really short, espically action games. Even though he beat it what did he think of it??? is it fun?

Hey! What's for dinner DH? lol :p

Hey cool! I just saw a link to this thread in someone's siggy. We just got our Wii 2 days ago. DH found it online with Sam's. It came with sports and I think 2 WWII games. I haven't even had a chance to play it yet because DH and DS have been hogging. :rotfl: I guess they'll be plenty of time this weekend since it's supposed to rain. We still need to get another controller. Are those still hard to find?

He said it was fun - he really liked the sword action.

I see the controllers all the time, target, walmart, toyrus. Just the game system is hard to find not the accessories.

I think some places might be low on controllers, but for the vast majority, you should have no problem finding one.

Thanks for the review!

I want to encourage everyone to post reviews of games here, especially for things not in the mainstream (like anything with Mario!)

Anyone tried playing the Spiderman 3 game for the Wii yet? We have Spiderman 2 for the GC but wondered how this compared?

Also when playing the laser hockey game from the Wii Play I have a hard time controlling the stick (or whatever you call the thingy that hits or block the shots). Is there some setting on this or is it just a matter of me getting used to it? This WAS the first time I played it. My son and I played about 5-6 tiimes until I won and he says I cheated!:confused3 He says that because he hit about 3 of mine in that he really beat me but I also hit about 3 of his goals in, so I say I won. :rolleyes2 Can't Mom win one out 6 games?

We finally found a Wii last week and other than both DH and I have really sore arms from Wii sports. We love it
So glad that we got it. We have been playing also Wario Smooth Moves. Really fun and not to hard for people like me who normally suck at video games.
Anyone tried Cooking with Mama?

Don't have Spiderman, so I can't comment on that, but there is a setting on the Wii controllers for sensitivity. If this is the only game you have problems with, I wouldn't go messing with the settings though. Try getting used to it and then if that doesn't work, we can explain how to change the settings!

Cooking Mama is a game you either love or hate. If you've played the DS version and like it, you'll probably love the Wii one. This is a game I would suggest renting first! :teeth:

Some news out of the nintendo Media Summit last week...take it all as rumor for the most part as I can't confirm it from any site other then cubed3.com so far.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption (Wii)

Release date: 20/08/2007

Visual improvements since the original build, “wow” factor.

No competitive online mode for Prime 3 but will be used for fresh content to expand the game’s default features – new missions, suits, weapons will be available, to try and provide content that is “ever evolving and changing so that the game may become entirely new over time.”

Delayed due to working on the visuals and online side of things.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

Release Date: 11/12/2007

Press were allowed to play a single level, with Wi-Fi and a new character shown – “looks stunning, plays like a dream.”

Uses GameCube controller/classic controller or the Wii Remote/Nunchuck.

Using the Wii remote/nunchuck, players can increase strength (presumably smash) by moving the remove in the direction of attack, with extra jump if players move the Wii-remote up in sync.

Report suggests these moves feel tacked on.

Super Mario Galaxy

Release Date: 12/10/2007

Press also spent time with Galaxy – “everything fans of Mario 64 will be expecting from the game”.

Various areas of varying style, with mini-planets and comets are the surface of the game – most levels are within giant planets with their own unique feel, much like the different paintings. Outer-space is much like Peach’s castle in Super Mario 64.

Friends can help assist in player’s movements by pointing to a star and have Mario follow the pattern drawn at certain points in the game.

WiiConnect 24 is used, but its function is unclear.

Disaster: Day of Crisis

Release: Q1 2008

Confirmed as the Official title for the game, Nintendo aim to create a series out of the franchise, with each entry subsequently named Disaster: XXXX.

“In one area, the player had to determine that the Wii Remote needed to be pointed at a water valve and then turned to unleash water onto a raging fire. These “puzzles” give the game more of an action-adventure feel. Ultimately, it felt like an entirely new type of gaming experience.”

M-09 (FKA Project H.A.M.M.E.R.)

Release: Second Quarter 2008

Plays as previously described – other than the title change/release date.

Video Reel

Mario Kart: Visually impressive, traditional appearance, controlled like other Wii racing games, Wi-Fi logo present.

Animal Crossing:
Looks like past iterations – Wi-Fi logo again present.

Vision Red: Original Nintendo RPG, seems familiar to Square’s Final Fantasy series.

Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball – Spruced up from the GameCube version, plays like one would expect.

Wii Health Pack: People doing various exercises using the Wii remote, results showing calories burnt etc – Miis are being utilized.

Wii Music
: Variety of music played with Wii-remote, performances combined to make songs – Wi-Fi logo present.

Mii Popularity: Seemed like an everybody vote channel for Mii profiles with different attributes being ranked.

Demo Channel: Showed players downloading demos of VC titles.

Final Video – Zelda Wii
“Sentences flashed across a black screen and faded…

The greatest adventure in gaming
Lands of epic proportions
A hero for all time
A love to die for…

Link then appears screaming for a very brief second before the screen turns black and a tri-force slams onto the screen and smashes in to pieces.

If the character model used for Link is any indication of where this series is headed, expect ultra-realism, grittiness, and a very dark feel.”

All of this sounds great if true!
