It's there. :thumbsup2 Check out RunDisney website. I bit the bullet and am now registered for the 1/2. Since I am a newbie, I will save a full marathon for another day. Something to strive for. :goodvibes

I found it thanks! Signed DH and I up for our first full! Unfortunately, they charged me $150 for me and $170 for him so now I am working on getting a refund!

Now I'm seriously thinking about switching from the half to the full. Is that as crazy as I think it sounds? I'll have run 2 halfs by that point and have been seriously running for about 3 years. I think I'm ready for it and seeing that medal seems to be the push I needed :confused3

Oh Mickey Medal you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind. I love it even more today than I did yesterday. Which is only about .000001% of how much I will love it when I crawl, dragging my half dead body across the finish line and get it around my sweaty neck in January.

This has renewed my faith that there may indeed be something awesome at mile 20. With the quotes on the medal, maybe it is zombie Walt Disney after all!!!

You can do it! We have done 2 halfs but have only been running for just over a year!

I love the medal:love: This will be my first and only marathon and the reveal makes me more excited.

I think I can do it too! I just have to wrap my mind around switching up our vacation schedule a bit and the fact that its 26.2 miles! DH and I are both running the half and we are arriving Thursday evening. We were planning on taking it easy on Friday, heading to the expo and then run the half on Saturday morning. If we do the full (yes, if I do it then DH has to too :lmao:) then we'll have 2 full days before the race and I hope we don't go too crazy walking around the parks and tiring ourselves out.

And I have no idea how tired and/or sore we will be after running a full as it will be our first one. Will we be totally wasting the rest of our trip? We're there until Thursday the 17th :confused3

I wasn't wasted after the full, but I could not have walked around the parks last year, and was happy to go home and sit at my desk at work.

I think the medal is lovely. 22 weeks!

I wish I could do this. For me, it's better to have some rest but to also keep moving to work out the soreness. And what better place to keep moving than at WDW?! :thumbsup2

At our first 1/2 ever this year, DH and I decided (well...I decided) to get massages at AKL after we showered and changed. Well, that put me on a downward spiral. We had an ADR for Sci-Fi after the massages and we were literally passing out in our shakes. I felt so bad for the kids but we were wiped:(.

For the full, no massages and I'm only doing AK the day before and it closes at 5 so I intend to be in bed EARLY! Plus we're staying at SSR so hopefully no loud music at 2 AM to wake us up!:banana:

We're planning the bulk of our trip for after the race as well, though we're "only" running the full and getting to town midday Saturday. It's our first so like you said, no idea how we'll feel after, but we're planning to do AK on Monday so at least it's a shorter day and we can crash early if needed. We're heading home Friday and then will have MLK weekend to recover from it all before heading back to work.

Does anyone else feel like marathon weekend is creeping up on us kind of quickly? I know there are still several months to go, but we're doing Higdon's novice supreme plan and I can't believe we're already in week 9 of training!

I'm a little nervous about our plans, too. We're coming in Friday, will check in,get packets, and the kids are hoping to spend a little time in Tomorrowland. We're doing the half the next morning (my first)! And then planning on spending the rest of the day at AK. Are we crazy?? Thankfully Sunday is a resort day.

You know you want to.... go Dopey with me!!! I'm walking the entire 5K, leisurely. Maybe still in my jammies too......

I'll admit, when I saw that 5K medal the wheels started turning. I went on the DVC member website to see if there was still availabilty at my resort for Thursday..there is......
Is your friend doing any of the races with you?

Ok, 2 things -

1 - I think runDisney is trying to kill me :teeth: Next year not only will I be doing Goofy because I'll get a new Donald & Mickey medal, but I want to do the Princess too because it will have a neat 5 year medal.

Then in 2014 Wine & Dine will celebrate 5 years and I have to do that since I did the inaugural and it was my first half marathon. I have a feeling that they will also bring back Chip & Dale which will force me to choose between a new Mickey medal since they can't reuse the 20th anniversary and the Chip & Dale that I missed out on due to this pesky little thing called a job. Booo ;)

Then in 2015 it will be the 10th anniversary for Goofy and Disneyland so what a great year for Coast to Coast.... Finally I figure I'll have a year off before the madness starts over again with Donald's 20th... Really, they are trying to kill me.

2 -Ok now to the bigger more important question.. I am following the Galloway Goofy plan and there just happens to be some local half marathons on my scheduled long run days where I have to run 15 and 17 miles. I was thinking that since neither really have a pace requirement that I could sign up for those, get some additional medals and incorporate those with my long runs. Would that be a wise decision? I don't plan on doing an all out race but I of course would keep my pace under the 16 min mile as that is how I have to train to complete the Goofy and not get swept. Does this make sense? Any suggestions? Yea or Ney??

If you can treat the race as a "supported training run", then go for it. I have done this before, although I have to say once in a race, I tend to.....race! Just try to pace yourself appropriately.

No, you won't. Just take it easy. My first full was the Mickey 2010. Afterwards, I went back to my room, ate, drank, rested and tended to my blistered feet. I did manage to make it to EPCOT that evening (for a dessert reception), but would have crashed if I didn't have the commitment. Spent the next couple days a little sore, but overall okay touring the parks with "the weight of the world" off my shoulders and my medal around my neck (looking for all the themed Mickeys to take a picture)

No, not crazy. Actually, you will want to spend some time later that pm walking around and moving your legs.....and looking for Safari Donald to get your picture taken. I have one of Safari Minnie after I did the Minnie 15k. It;s neat to get pictures with the character whose race you ran (and free, if you use your own camera). For my first half--Donald 2009--I went to MK and got Frontier Donald. He made a big deal out of the medal. The park characters have more time to make a fuss over you than the ones at the end of the race.

Yes, just the 5K. :) She did the Half with me in '08 and that's good enough for her!

Any recommendation on powdered drink mix for hydration. In the past I have used Gatorade powder because it's cheaper, and I can mix it up in re-usable water bottles to save plastic. However, it's so high in sugar that I would prefer to use something else. I have a three mile course mapped out in my neigborhood, so while I'm doing 'laps' I will still have the Gatorade to help keep me going. But I sweat a LOT and need to rehydrate post-workout and I'd like to do so without all that sugar.

Suggestions? And yes I drink lots of plain water also as part of my daily routine ;)
