My best power song is actually IllumiNations. I don't know what it is but I picture being in Epcot and I can get moving with that one!

The other two that really help are:
Good Feeling - Flo Rida
Let's Go - Calvin Harris Ft. Ne-Yo

These other two change out depending on what is high beat and motivational that I really like. IllumiNations is always consistent.

I am currently weaning myself off of music while I run, but by far my favorite is King of New York from Newsies the musical.

I realize not everyone uses Nike + running during their runs, but what is everyone's Powerboost song (or songs)?

I only use music when I'm on a treadmill because I like to hear the sounds around me, my footsteps, etc. That said, my iPod is loaded up with punk and metal that's got a killer tempo and really gets you moving. No matter what else randomly ends up on there, I will always have Indestructible (Disturbed), Toxicity (System of A Down), and Paranoid (Cancer Bats version) on there. :)

I also only listen to music when I'm on the tm, which I haven't been since the winter, but...

I don't have one song that works, my favorites are always changing.

I like pop: Pitbull, JLo, Flo Rida, The Wanted, LMFAO, Foster the People, Gym Class Heroes, Usher, Rihanna, Cobra Starship, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Demi Lovato...

I have a bunch of pop Disney songs too, some from tv movies (several from Camp Rock movies) and some that are pop versions of older Disney songs (for instance Beauty and the Beast by Jump 5).

No music for me either unless I come into the race well undertrained. I love to hear the surroundings and it has saved my butt more than once. I will wear on a mill but even then, I try to keep unplugged in an effort to mentally toughen myself.

WIth regard to shoes, seems like we are all over the marketplace. Just a word to the 2-3 folks who are trying to make shoes last ... exercise care as a worn out shoe is hard to judge. Better to not push them out too long.

For me, I am a Newton runner.

Such an old schooler here. I rarely, if ever, listen to music. Having just gotten that darn iphone in January (thanks Liz for showing me what I was doing wrong ;) ), I only recently put some tunes on there. Not necessarily running music though..... :confused3 Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Jimmy Buffett. That's good running music, right? :rotfl:

Oh, and to answer the shoe question, I'm an Asics girl. 2160's right now, and again later.

Lol Tanya...you are young with an old soul. ;)

Yay for my 2160 buddy! :thumbsup2 I think the color of the ones I have now (both pairs) is what you were wearing in January...carbon/white/plum.

I don't remember where I read this article, but I remember a pro athlete was asked what he liked to listen to while running and he said motivational books. He thought it toughened him up.

I am listening to music less and less...I almost never do when I run outside and use it part of the time on the treadmill. I used to use it all the time until one day when I realized I wasn't even listening to the songs...was just lost in my own thoughts. So I stopped taking the iPod out with me. :confused3

I NEVER listen to music at Disney races...I want to soak in the experience as much as possible! :thumbsup2

My two cents: I wear the Ascis 21-- line, and am on my second pair of 2170s. My first pair got me through the Princess and I just switched up this month since it was time and in preparation for my half in December.

My music tastes are all over the place. Right now my favorite song is the opening from Brave, Touch the Sky. I loved it when I saw the movie and knew it'd fit in with my playlists.

No music at all for me. On the treadmill, I watch my TV shows that I have DVRed. Outside, I like to hear everything around me, including cars since I live in a rural area and run on the roads.

Hi! I'm doing my very first 1/2 for the weekend. Also doing the 5K with my 8 yr old!!! Super excited!!!!

Now that's what I'm talking about lol.. :thumbsup2::yes::

I'm running in Saucony Kinvara 2.

I also don't listen to music while running. On the TM I watch shows on Netflix and when I run outside I'm using with DH or another group and we talk pretty much the entire time. :)

How do you like the Pure Cadence shoes? How long have you had them? I'm REALLY curious to know how long they last...:wave2:

I bought them a few months ago after much research but waited until I finished my 10k in June before using them. I'm only using them for short runs right now and some days I love them and some days I don't. :confused3 I only have about 15 miles on them right now (5 weeks worth of 3 mile runs?) so I can't tell you the life-span. I'm going to keep trying them once a week on short runs until I figure them out.

If anyone is staying on property for the marathon they updated the calendars for January. We can now see EMHs :)

I wear Newton Distance and the Brooks PureCadence. The Newtons are awesome but I only wear them for running. Walking in them is just not that comfortable. But running in them is very nice once you get used to minimalist shoes. I think it also helps if you are a midfoot or forefoot striker.

I got the PureCadence shoes for speedwalking but I have run a couple of Halfs in them and they very good. I am a neutral foot and technically the PureCadence are a stability shoe. But they still feel good to my feel so the stability aspects must be slight. I have put over 200 miles on them so far and they still are good-to-go.

I am thinking of switching to the Saucony Kinvara 3s when my Newtons wear out. I hear they are a good shoe and a lot less expensive.

Does Disney have their photographers out during the various races to capture the event? Just curious.
(sorry if this was asked before...the thread is toooo long)
