Official Upgrade to SSR thread

Many of us have been upgraded from a value to SSR. It would be fun to post:

trip dates
room category
price difference between your value resort package and your SSR package
things you're looking forward to at SSR
things you're not looking forward to


I'll start:

8/26-8/31
1 bedroom villa
About $1620.00 difference
I'm looking forward to the pools, washer and dryer (packing less clothing), a 714 sq. foot room, and Artist's Palette.
I'm worried that it will be insanely crowded at SSR and at the parks in general now that they are making room for more people. We get in the parks as soon as they open and leave by noon, though, so that shouldn't be too bad.

things you're looking forward to at SSR We are looking to buy SSR DVC it will be nice to try before we buy. I have 2 more TS I have to plan for now
things you're not looking forward to If we are in the buildings that are far from the main pool and food that would not be great but ofcourse it will still work out.

8/26 - 8/29 upgraded to SSR from POP (still at POP 8/21-8/26)
1 BR Villa
about $1000 difference
I'm looking forward to the extra room, 2 TVs, washer and dryer and walking to DD!
I'm worried that once I stay at a DVC resort, I won't be happy staying anywhere else! What a a great problem to have!

Yes I too was offered and took this great upgrade. I had a heck of a time getting a CM who knew how to do it though. I also called back this morning and went from a studio to a 1 bedroom at no extra charge.

Date: 8/28 - 9/3
Room: 1 BR
Look forward to: Never stayed in a resort of this level so I am looking forward to everything. I am going to redo the itinerary so we have a resort day now.
Savings: About $1,800.
I am so excited. I almost upgraded to a Mod out of pocket a few weeks ago, so glad I didn't.

Our Grand Gathering all got upgraded.

Only my sister and my mom had a pin attached to their names but a great CM upgraded us all to 1br SSR Aug. 27-Sept.3. Swiched from POP preffered!!!!

When did they offer the upgrade? When booking? or do they sometimes do it when you get there? We stayed at CBR last year and will be in ASMO this year. Not really excited about the resort.

We booked POP the first day free dining came out. They started oferring the up grades this past Thursday. Called this morning about an upgrade!!!

How does the upgrade work? Does it cost extra or are you getting it for the same price as Pop? I am confused b/c some OPs list savings and some list difference, so I'm not sure what it means. Any tips would be helpful, thanks!!!!

Our Grand Gathering got upgraded!!!

Here's our story.. Hope it helps

Orginally booked a GG on The first day Free dining was offered to DV.
4 rooms preffered POP Aug 27-Sept.3

1. Sister and I called last night no pin attached to our names
2. Sister called this morning Had code under her husband's name but could us it to upgrade just her
3. I called back still no upgrade for me but sister called pretending to be mom and mom did have a pin attached.
4. I called back and was told that each of them could upgrade 3 rooms, each to a 1br room at SSR. My sister calling at the same time found out the other person is our GG didn't have a pin.3
5.After giving my sister and my mom's info a great CM named Elmira checked with Guest services and I was able to upgrade all 4 rooms at POP to 1 br at SSR.

Total time on 2 phones 1 1/2 hour
Free upgrade to SSR!! priceless

by the way they credited us $94 dollars each which was the upgrade at POP for prefeered rooms

That is INCREDIBLE! I am on the phone now, crossing fingers and everything else that I have so hopefully some luck will be will me and I might possibly be as lucky as you!

I can't imagine having free dining AND an awesome free upgrade!?!?!?!??!?! I know I am probably getting my hopes up for no reason, but I can't help it! I guess most people don't get this upgrade, right?????

Any luck? Looks like your dates are around mine and I have not heard of any upgrades for this timeframe yet.

Just got off the phone...no luck at all! I told the CM that "a friend" of mine had received this offer when calling so I just wanted to check on it, too. She acted like she hadn't heard of a PIN code with that offer or really of that ever happening. She diligently tried to find something for me, but nothing came up. She even checked availability at SSR and said sometimes special offers just pop up, but nothing popped up for me.

For you guys that got the upgrade, what did you say when you called? Is this a PIN thing or just luck of the computer or what??????

Mine is the same price. I also added a day which raised my total by $90.61 - which is the POP price.

What is your check-in date? I'm trying to figure out if anyone has gotten during our week. We are checking in on Sept.21 staying to Sept. 30.

And by the way, congrats on getting the upgrade. I am so hoping we can get one!!!!

Maybe they are just going down the list in the order of the day you booked your trip and sending out e-mails to those people. Seems Disney overbooked the values for that timeframe (end of Aug - beg. of Sept) and that is why people are getting bumped up to SSR and OKW.

As far as I can tell, the only people with upgrades at this point have arrival dates between 8/26-9/1. I got upgraded to 1 BR villa at Old Key West. She had to make a new reservation, though, and accidentally changed my tickets to hoppers, so it's worth double checking everything the next day.
