Official Top Chef Las Vegas thread *Premieres 8/19*

I really hope Eli goes home; I think he's an egotistical, immature twit. He has zero chance of creating or running a restaurant. At least not yet. Maybe in 10 years or so.

I like Kevin, then Brian. If Jen can get herself together, I think she's more talented than Michael. I think Michael will go; they don't show the obnoxious comments of someone they're keeping.

I think Bryan seems like a really nice guy, not arrogant like Michael at all.:confused3 I hope he takes it all, he is seems like such an accomplished chef and a nice person to boot.
Didn't Bryan refuse to shake Michael's hand when he won Restaurant Wars? Or am I thinking of something else.

Yes but they were on the same team. Michael was the leader and was a jerk the whole time then tried to make it better by sharing his $10000. I think Brian was just mad about him being dumb during the challenge then acting like everything was all fine once he split the money with everyone.

I know Robin needed to go but I couldn't help but feel for her. She was so upset.

I have to say that I'm really not liking Michael V. Did you hear the comment he makes in the upcoming episodes. " Kevin's dishes are what I cook on my days off" :cat: catty .... I hope Kevin wins it all.

Me too. I am sick of those nasty comments. He may be talented but he refuses to acknowledge that simple well cooked food has a place.

He is on my last nerve ... I will be happy when the door hits his arrogant butt on his way out. I picked Kevin to win it from the very first.

:thumbsup2

If I remember correctly, Marcel was a pretty obnoxious & arrogant so-and-so. He was one of the final three.

Plus, they keep inviting Marcel back for reunion specials. While I'm glad that Elan won over Marcel, it should have been Sam who won.

Yeah, I liked Sam too.

I was so pulling for Carla (last season?) too and was soooo sad - she choked.

Yeah ... but I thought his jerkiness and attention to detail helped the team win. I thought it was nice of him to share the money and I thought that Bryan was being a big baby. There is some serious sibling rivalry between those two.

I was happy for Jennifer. I think that she is a talented Chef. I also was impressed that she was willing to step in and assist if she was needed. I liked that Bryantold Kevin how to sous-vide his lamb. He realized that if Kevin would accomplish the goal or not based on his own talent, not on the instruction.

I was glad that Eli went home. I have not liked him since the bickering between him and Robin. I was also glad that Michael did not ace this, he is a little too dismissive of any style that he feels is not at the level he has decided determines fine dining.

My Dad was an Executive Chef and each Chef in the CT Chef's Association took turns hosting a meal/meeting. My Dad was a working chef, he not only ran his kitchen he worked it. He told me that he was most proud that his peers, many of whom earned numerous awards, enjoyed his meals and looked forward to eating the food he prepared for him. He never lost himself trying to impress those whose styles differed from his own, and they in turn appreciated the knowledge it took to prepare foods cleanly and simply. I cannot help but compare those Chefs and their appreciation for good food to Michael's condescending attitude towards Kevin. Those old Pro's knew that there was more to food then pretty plates.

I will admit now that I never appreciated that food when I was a kid and we all moaned when my Dad took a turn in the kitchen...more pots and pans and dishes than this naive kid though was necessary when I was the designated dish girl ;)

I was glad that Brian explained to Kevin how to make that dish. I hope Keviin rememberst hat Brian helped him and will maybe share that money with him. Brian said he was in dire straights.

I think Michael must be really an idiot with all those comments he makes. I wish he would have went home and Eli would have stayed

Michael's comment about how the food Kevin makes on the show is the stuff Michael cooks on his day off...we call that LOSER TALK.

It's what jealous dingus's say when they get bested.

If any of these contestants want to see how a class act behaves they only need to look to Huber Keller during that big chefs' dinner.... he got his point across about each contestant's efforts without putting anybody down. The Voltagio brother who keeps on criticizing others' cooking and who has it in for Kevin...what a JERK. He should be able to let his faaaaaaaaaaaaabulously snotty cooking stand on its own.

And I'd rather eat a meal that Kevin prepared that one he cooked. Same for Mike Isabella.

agnes!

I like Kevin but I don't think he should have won last night. The judges commented on how he played it safe. I don't think he really stepped out of his comfort zone like the others did.
I was glad Eli went home too. It was apparent these 4 would be making it to the end. Next week it will be hard to see who goes. I also like the fact they all seem so close.

I'm glad Jen got her act together. I like her. But, she was frustrating the last few weeks. She acted like the cheerleader who never failed at anything. This was her first failure, and she completely fell apart. :sad2: At one point, I thought they might send her home before Robin & Eli. Those two proved they really wanted to stay. Jen completely gave up.

I really liked that Brian gave Kevin directions on how to sous vide. It shows he has integrity. He could have simply said, "Sorry, this is a competition. I can't/am not going to give you that." Instead, he realised, it's only a technique. Kevin would still have to put the ingredients in properly in the right amounts and combinations to win. :thumbsup2 Brian was the closest in attitude to the chefs on the Top Chef Masters.

I'm a ceramic artist (at times. No holiday fairs this year. :() I love talking and sharing with other artists. It's great when we share techniques and ideas & inspire each other. Then, there are some people who are always coveting their techniques and don't want to share. The irony is, they got the techniques from someone else. But, when they get all secretive and non-sharing, people no longer want to share with them. Karma. :p

I bet Brian's mom is really proud of him. :thumbsup2 His brother, probably not so much. He's turning out to be really immature and the "p" word Brian said he, himself might be if he hadn't helped Kevin.

What's interesting is, Brian might have won the challenge if Kevin's dish hadn't worked out. They kept saying his showed the most promise of what it could be, if he had more time and was able to correct his mistakes.

See, I think Michael should pay attention to what he's saying. IF that's what you cook on your day off, doesn't that mean it's what you really like to eat? Why would you serve anything else to others? Because you're trying to impress them with culinary acrobatics? Does he really think so little of the judges? (Rhetorical question, of course).

Yes, I had a teacher who called it: The arrogance of a Loser. :p

I took his snide comment to mean the simple stuff he cooks when he doesn't want to pull out his pots & pans, or doesn't have the time or energy to make to a more complicated gourmet meal for himself.

Kind of like when you sit home in you sweatshirt and sweatpants when you're home alone and you don't care.

I agree with Imzadi. We all know what we like to cook when we feel like cooking something big and impressive and then we know what we cook when we're in a hurry/just cooking for the family.

When I invite people over for dinner, it will be served in the dining room, on the good china, with the good silverware and crystal. I like to cook and eat that way, but not every day. I think that's what Michael meant.

Having said that, his attitude is horrible and I don't condone his snide comments at all.

I wish Brian won. He would have if he cooked the lamb just a little bit more.

I would have been happy to see Eli or Michael go home last night. But, I figured it would be Eli since the producers would want the brothers in the finals together. Plus, Michael has won several elimination challenges, so I'm sure that helped him, too.
