Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread ** May 7-10, 2015

I'm new to this group but I'll chime it-I registered for the Challenge. I'm a little nervous as I used to be a runner but had too many injuries, so now I am learning to race walk. This morning I walked 6 miles at just under a 15 minute pace- hoping that with more training I will be a little speedier- but mostly I just want to complete the races within the time limits--It'll be a dream come true for sure!!

Welcome !!!
I sympathize with having injuries. I'm sure you'll be fine, you're already doing under 15 min pace.
I think the challenge is going to be LOTS of fun.

Weird question: I had to run off to an event I was in charge of after I registered so I am now just looking at the registration confirmation emails. The email for the 5K says: "Thank you for registering for Tinker Bell 10K on Saturday, May 9, 2015" in the body of the letter. However in the little box of Registration Details it says: "Group: Never Land 5K" and "Category: Never Land 5K". My receipt email and my bank both show that I paid $75.05 ($70 + $5.05 processing fee). Is this just some kind of glitch and we really are registered for the 5k? No way can my daughter do the 10K and no way do I want to attempt the 10K along with the 1/2 Marathon.

VickiHD - Hi! We stood behind you last year in the TinkerBell M&G line. How did the surgery go and how are the knees?

That's a new one for me! They must have had some kind of glitch or something, but if you were charged the 5K price and it does list the 5K in the body of the email I would go out on a limb to say that you are good for the 5K. But for peace of mind, I would still contact runDisney to be sure!

Welcome to the thread! I'm sorry to hear that you had a lot of injuries in the past, no fun! But there are many different ways to stay under a 16-minute-mile pace - and you're already there at a 6 mile distance. I'd say that's pretty darn good. And there's still a lot more time to prepare yourself!

Good luck! I'll get you added to the runner list.

It's making me wonder if I should sign up for the 5k in addition to the PDC... hmm:rolleyes1

Did you do it? ;) If I had the $$ I would have!

Hi :wave2::wave2::wave2: How are you? How are your knees doing ?? I was wondering if you two were coming out for Tink again.
Long recovery from the surgery--had no idea it was going to be so difficult. But it's done and now I'm trying to avoid :scared1: having to have the other knee done. I just really want to keep running for a long time.

So you are doing the 5K and 1/2 right? I'm signed up for the PD Challenge, hope my knees don't mind.:)

If anyone signed up for the 5k when reg opened last week, double check what you were charged. I was charged $85 instead of $75; Disney caught it and sent out emails about the refund. My email went to junk instead of inbox b/c it came from WDW Sales not rundisney. So double check your charges and email just in case! :goodvibes

I signed up for the half! I will finally be getting my Coast to Coast!

I'm in for Pixie Dust Challenge. I'm doing Glass Slipper as well, so I will be earning my Pink C2C medal!

We all are in!
I'm doing the PDC
DD doing the 5k and the PDC
DH will be doing the PDC. This will be his first half.
He has been walking the 5k's. He has been a great chEar squad. But now he can actually participate in the longer races. He had a heart transplant this past June. I am so excited for him to be in the races. Of course he will probably leave me and DD in the dust:rotfl2:

ludari, mla1977, Straberry's mom&dad, Soccer Princess - you've all been added to the runner list!

Is there some sort of calculator/formula that they use to predict your HM time from a 10K result finish?

I am trying to figure out how fast I have to run/walk a 10K to have a time to submit to be in an earlier corral. I think I just put down 3:00:00 for predicted finish but I have no clue. But so far I can only find two certified 10K's within reasonable distance, one 11/1 and one 1/1. The 11/1 one feels so close... I don't know if I'll be ready to get a time by then, but that might be better weather-wise. So maybe if I have a better idea of what kind of time I need it will help me get ready by then. :)

I've been wondering the same thing. I only know of 1 10k that will work before the cut-off time to turn in results. Is it correct that we won't know the cut-off times of the corrals until we're assigned closer to race time?

This is one that I use:

McMillan Running Calculator

I just put my race info into the 1st part and then hit calculate. It then spits out various times for races up to a marathon, adjusting for a little slowing as the distances get longer.

Thanks! I mainly just want to get out of the back corral, I don't care if I'm in the second-to-back one. :)

It looks like I need to shoot for 1:20 to hit my wild guesstimate of 3 hours and 1:27 to be < 3:15.

I am pretty sure that I can do much better than that after 9 months of training, but I just don't know about by Nov 1. :)

Hey all! I just found this thread! My best friend signed up for the PDC and convinced me to sign up as well. This will be my first challenge, AND my first DL race. I have done the Princess and will be doing the W&D this year! Pretty excited about my first DL race, guess I'll definitely have to sign up for the W&D next year so I can get my coast to coast!

Vicki ~ are you guys and home okay?

Yes....we're fine. Thanks for asking. :) Did notice a couple of new cracks in the walls but thankfully no real problems. Honestly, did not even know of the earthquake until a friend back east e/m to see if we're ok.

Any problems in your area?? How baby watch going??

Nothing big here. I think my medals clinking is what woke me up. :rotfl: It was like there was 100 challenge/C2C runners in my room.

No baby yet, so that slight hope I was holding onto to find something this week is gone. But the doctor told her yesterday if nothing happens by Sat, she's going in Sun morning to be induced.

:cheer2::cheer2: Good luck this weekend w/ all the races!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Drive safe and have fun!
