Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon 2012 thread

Check in with the Tinkerbell race page on the runDisney website every once in a while...once the race reaches 50% full, they will continually post the current capacity until it either sells out or registration closes. runDisney will also sometimes post capacities on their Facebook page...I think just today they posted that one of the WDW races in January is now 60% full. And keep up with this thread...once capacities are listed on the website, posters are pretty good about letting everone here know.

Thanks. I'll be sure to do that. I subscribed to the thread. :goodvibes

I am already registered for the Tinkerbell half. I couldn't pass up the inaugural event and I read that the medal is going to be in the shape of wings. :thumbsup2

You may know this, but just so you aren't surprised... You have to complete both halves of the Coast to Coast in the same calendar year. So, if you do the Tinkerbell in January, you will need to do a WDW race in 2012 also to qualify for the C2C.

And THAT is what I get for not proofreading a post before submitting. I meant 2012 for my 3rd W&D Half. :)

:lmao: Sorry! I hoped that is what happened, but I didn't want you to really mean 2013 and then be surprised! I knew someone who did that once and it was NOT pretty when she found out.

There were only characters inside the parks.

Here's a link to my (un-finished) Trip Report from last year's Disneyland Half Marathon.

I plan to finish it soon.

Great TR! Thanks for finishing!

I was thinking of maybe getting a WISH shirt or something Tinkerbell green, but now I am also contemplating going with a pirate theme. We'll see when Halloween rolls around what kind of accessories are available. I want to be comfortable and most likely won't be doing a full costume, just a few pirate (or Tink, can't decide yet!) touches.

I'm now thinking of just a fairy costume, not specificly Tink. There is going to be TONS of Tinks :lmao: and I want to be different. :thumbsup2

How the heck do people run in costume? And..everything I know about running (which isn't a lot, I'll admit) but all the advice says to not race in anything you haven't trained in. Do people go running/training through their neighborhoods wearing Princess costumes? :confused3 I gotta admit, I've never seen that in my neighborhood!! :rotfl:

My first 1/2 marathon was in January of this year. I wore only what I had trained in. But by mile 10, I was ready to throw off much of what I was wearing. I can't imagine wearing wings!

I was wondering that too when I saw pictures from the Princess! Did they do their training runs in the tutus? If so, that must have been a sight to see! I'm only looking at accessories that would be comfortable. I liked the tiara headbands many princesses had, it would be cool if I could find a pirate one. I am definitely taking the "nothing new on race day" advice! No wings for me either.

I wore a pink running skirt underneath a pink tutu. I also wore pink princess Mickey ears!
I did a test run on my neighbors treadmill for 5 miles to see if I could stand it. Everything went well so I knew I'd be OK on the long run.
I was comfortable the whole Princess 1/2 marathon. And it was fun being in costume for all of my pictures!:cool1:

My first race I didn't even want to try the running socks my aunt gave me because I hadn't trained in them but this time I want to dress up. I figure a stretchy fairy dress over a sports bra and running pants should be ok and if not it may come flying off in the middle of the race. :lmao:

Beware of random, flying articles of clothing!! :rotfl::hippie:

Good to know I may have to dodge fairy and princess costumes! :rotfl2:

Oh I see it all the time!!! 5:30 in the morning and people running around in their costumes? :rotfl2::rotfl2: I think I would actually pay money to see someone doing that. That would be the funniest thing I have ever seen.

I'm the same way, a little more lax now, but still like to stick to what I've done in the training runs. When I first started out, I was a little freaked out even going from Powerade to Gatorade.

I dont want to wear the wing just cuz I dont want any more wind resistance .. I make enough of my own resistance LOL. So Im going to paint some on a tshirt. We were thinking tutu's also but I would think they would get itchy and annoying.

LOL, I was wondering about the costumes too. I was amazed at the Disneyland 1/2 what people were running in. I think I may try to find something to wear on my head, but I can barely do it in my regular running clothes. Much less a costume.

Hi-

I am registered for Tinkerbell 1/2. I would also love to do the Princess 1/2 in Febrary for the coast to coast medal.

I registered for Daily Mile (Melody S - Longmont, CO) if anyone wants to connect for training motivation.

I have loved following the information on the WISH forums. However, whenever I log onto the DISboards website, I have to start from the beginning and then drill down to the various threads. Is there any way to "save" a favorite thread so that I could quickly check the updates on the threads that I follow?

My husband seems a little jealous of my training -- I think it has inspired him to start exercising too. I don't want to push him - but I think it would be cool if he would join me in a race!

At the top of the thread, click on the heading "Thread Tools." Drop down to "Subscribe to thread". Click to subscribe. The next time you log on, you can use the "Quick Links" heading at the top of the page to drop down to "Subscribed threads" and there it is. If anything new has been posted, it will be in bold.
