I just read some of the bios on the CBS website. I didn't realize that Tina's son died only a week before she supposed to go off to Guatemala. Does anyone know who replaced her?
I don't know who replaced her, but I did know she was slated to go to Guatemala and got the news that her son died right before she was to leave. She's originally from The Hayward/Ely area of Northern Wisconsin, so there was a story about her in the Minneapolis newspaper right before Survivor started. her family indicated that she was a pretty strong pesonality and they were afraid she might not last because of that.

I was really curious to know the same thing. It would be interesting to see how far that 'last minute' person actually got into the season!

I don't think anybody replaced Tina - remember she drew that heart in the sand and said she was playing the game for her son who had recently died? It sounded like he died about a month before the show. I think she went on Survivor anyway.

She was supposed to go on last season, but her son died, so she didn't. We were wondering who they put on the Guatemala season in place of her since she ended up not going. They must've told her she could go this season instead.

::yes::
There was an interview/article in the Minneapolis newspaper where it said she was supposed to go to Guatemala, but her son died right as she was supposed to leave. It said the producers saved a space for her for this season's show.

I think she said her son had died 4 1/2 months ago (at the time of the taping).

Which would coincide with the Guatamala taping.

I just noticed that CBS finally has the Fantasy Leagues ready to go. I just created a tribe, if anyone wants to join.

Tribe Name: DIS Tribe
Password: Walt

Looks like a good show tonight, although I'd kind of like to see them stay in 4 tribes for another week or so.

Where is everyone!!!! Dying here to see what everyone else thinks of tonight's episode. I think the girls on Cosina (is that right?) are stupid, stupid, stupid. They should have gotten rid of Shane or better yet the yoga guy who came up with "the plan". I can't believe they let them get away with that. They were getting Bruce as a replacement, they easily could have gotten rid of a strong male. And does the black guy speak? I didn't see/hear him say one single word this episode. I don't have a favorite person yet. But, I'm definitely pulling for the La Mina tribe.

I can't believe they did get rid of Nicotine man, that guy is so annoying!

He's also a little scary.

I think Shane should have gone as well. I totally thought that the girls would have banded together and gotten rid of Shane after he and Aras said well it will be one of you two tonight and the other tomorrow to Cerie and Melinda. Shane must be having some serious withdrawl from the nicotine because what did he think Survivor was going to be!?!?!

I wish we would have seen more than Bruce just practing his martial art and sleeping on Exile Island. I'm totally pulling for the La Mina tribe. Although I'm interested to see what happens with the alliances over there and who Nick and Austin end up with as an alliance.

I agree the guy going through withdrawal is just nuts. Nice to hear that he's missing his son a lot but I have a feeling its his other addiction he's missing a lot more!

I like all the older people better than the younger ones. Can't really remember too many of their names yet. I also would have liked to have seen the four tribes one more week and make the older women suffer a little after voting off Tina.

Can't believe that one gal lost the fishing spear!!! Oh my gosh!! AWFUL!

Did anyone else think it was odd that when the girl lost the spear the guy with her didn't even try to go after it? Maybe the water was really deep but you would have thought that as it fell off her arm one of them would have made a dash into the water. Instead they both just sort of sat there....

I think La Mina is a MUCH stronger tribe, physically and mentally. I especially like Terry, but I have a soft spot for pilots! But losing that spear--yikes! That was really stupid.

And did you notice that Shane was the first one picked--right there, I had to wonder about that tribe. He may be a nice guy, but detox-ing on Survivor doesn't seem like such a great plan. And I do have to wonder how much of his nuttiness is because of nicotine withdrawal.

I don't care much either for Melinda or Cerie, but it would have been nice to see them have more of a chance. then again, it wasn't so brilliant, them voting out the strongest woman last week, either.

I hope Shane goes SOON. I officially hate him -- and not in a good way, the way I hated the wicked witch from Survivor Outback (what was her name??? it's on the tip of my tongue).

Shane should have got voted out. I think its a little unfair for cerie and the gal that got voted out to be on that tribe....they have no chance to compete I dont thing but thats my opinion...I hope the guy from Exile will come in and mess that alliance up....I am not too keen on the way this survivor has started....I love the originals....my favorite opening episode was the one with Rupert and they went into the town and he stole all the other teams things...Classic....I hear this is Jeffs last season....He makes the show he will be hard to replace if thats true....

I'm not sure I follow. They had every chance to compete. One of the Survivors made the point very well: Some people make the good, strong alliances, and survive. The others, don't, and get voted off.

I hear this is Jeffs last season
Jeff has signed on for five more seasons.

I mean in terms of the age groups they were paired with....I think no matter what they did to help the tribe they were gone...

Thats good to hear about Jeff....He is why my wife watches...LOL

Are you saying that older women, by their very nature, were at a disadvantage? I think Tina Wesson would take issue with that!

If anything, the group with the biggest disadvantage would be the older men. Richard Hatch was the oldest male winner, and he'd have been a young-one on that trive.
