**OFFICIAL THREAD**Survivor: Panama

I don't think Aras was complaining about the overnight visit. Terry was explaining his logic on how he chose how he did. Being a dad, Shane/Boston hands down for the overnight, then, he had to choose who to let go back to camp, that is where the explanation came in about a husband/wife is a more important visit than a mother/grown son. (with which, I agree).
.

I was responding to this:

Terry's logic didn't make sense. By his deduction, Cerie should have been given the opportunity to spend the night with her husband since she was the only other married person and Shane should have received the right for Boston to spend the night at camp with his father. He should have just kept his mouth closed.

.

Which is illogical as Terry was referring to grown ups playing a game and who got something and who didn't. Boston is not a "grown son" which does not place him on the same level as a man twice his age.

Someone also said that on the Early show this morning (or some interview elsewhere) that he had nothing but positive things to say. The importance of it was was that you could absolutely tell that it was the greatest thing and for whatever reason---he may have said something (perhaps on their walk away from the challenge) that just hit the cutting room floor.

As far as why Terry explained his choices, we don't know why he did that. The editing in these programs can be misleading. I can't see him just volunteering that information unless someone asked him why or brought up the subject, and if that is the case, they can't fault him for giving his reasoning, however flawed as they may have thought it was.

It reminds me of when people win rewards where they get to go somewhere to shower and feast. When they return, they are asked, "Well, how was it?", then after they talk about the food/bed/shampoo, the camera cuts away to someone complaining about the winner and how they gloated and rubbed it in everyone's faces. FOR PETE'S SAKES!!! Don't ask the questions, if you don't want the answers.

Oh, and in response to Terry stabbing someone in the back, I really don't think he would. I am vaguely remembering back when he was with his original tribe, he shook hands with someone and vowed not to vote them off. His alliance then wanted to vote them off, and he said he wasn't going to do that b/c he gave his word. I don't remember the whole story, I just remember his alliance saying, "But we didn't shake hands on it. Only Terry did that."

Wasn't there a Survivor where the winner of the Family Visit had the choice to give his visit up and let everyone else have their loved one come to a feast (or something, was it maybe Matthew that lost to Jenna?). That would have been interesting, considering how malicious the others have been to Terry in the past. Aras' whining was pretty disingenious considering he would have sent Terry to EI in a heartbeat, and probably given Shane and his son the hug with Cirie and Aras off to the spa together.

I vaguely remember that too. I think maybe that was with Ruth Ann. However, he did go against the astronaut guy. It was the four remaining men, as Sally was sent to Exile for the vote. The two younger guys told Terry that they were voting for the astronaut. Terry had the choice to force a tie (which could very well cast him out) or go along with the younger guys. He went with the younger guys. I don't know if I would necessarily call it backstabbing since he didn't really have a choice. But, he did write his name down.

I think Terry shook hands with Dan to always be honest with each other. Terry told Dan that he had to go with Nick and Austin in voting for Dan before the actual vote, if I remember correctly. Terry was honest with Dan in delivering the bad news before Tribal Counsel.

The way that Cassai has treated Terry since the merge, I am surprised that he was so kind to any of them with the family member visits....but then again...they do vote for the Sole Survivor. Guess he won't get Aras' vote, huh? :rolleyes1

I went back and read the previous episode accounts, and although they are scant, I do think it was Ruth Ann that he shook hands with as a promise not to vote her off that round.

I also think he made a pact with Dan, which he followed through on, but I think the one I was remembering was the one with Ruth Ann.

Okay, so I screwed up - I know the vote for the winner is made at the final tribal council - and the results are shown live on the finale... guess I had a brain freeze!

I saw Shane on the CBS morning show - he was still praising Cerie! I have to wonder if we were watching the same show.

I always think it's amusing to see how they *clean up* after being voted off - on the last show two of the girls were unrecognizable afterwards... anyway, I was expecting a huge change in the dancer girl - she didn't look much different...and Shane looked much the same today as on the show! He's back to his smoking habit - I was hoping he'd quit while on the island. The blurb across the screen also said he appeared in Third Rock from the Sun - so was Survivor a jumping board for more tv?

I can so see Terry as a hugely successful motivational speaker - even if he doesn't win in the end.

It seems Shane has quite a resume in TV

Now I have to wonder if he really was a crazy freak, or just "acting" the part.

I wish Survivor would go back to putting everyday people on, ones who don't already have/had a career in TV.

Yea, this season has been kinda boring, or maybe I am just getting tired of it. I am a total reality show freak. But even I've had alittle to much .

Here's what I'm tired of on Survivor: people winning only because they didn't make anyone "mad" during the show. I won't get into naming names and possibly starting arguments, but it seems like at least every other Survivor winner is just some mildly "nice" person who didn't do any major backstabbing. Granted, I think there are some winners who have really deserved it by being strategic or just totally dominating in some way. It just seems too often for my taste that someone wins just because the jury isn't jealous or resentful at the end.

In my annoyance, I'm predicting Danielle to win. Cerie even said it on the last episode and I thought Cerie would be smart enough to vote her off. People on the jury like Danielle, she hasn't been a master strategist in anything and therefore no one feels betrayed by her. She's done okay in challenges, but nothing to make everyone jealous. I think Cerie made a mistake and should have voted off Danielle and kept Shane. I suppose she wanted to keep Danielle's vote, but I think she would have been better off losing Danielle's vote but making herself a better candidate to get carried to the final 2 by someone.

I don't see any way that Terry can win because everyone obviously is jealous and resentful because of how well he's doing. There's a reason the car winner doesn't win the million! It doesn't help that he is a bit arrogant. If he were a little more humble, he might have their respect like Tom did, but they seem to just DESPISE Terry. A few may decide to respect him in the end, but I just don't see him able to get the votes.

I'd like to see Cerie win as I've seen the best game strategy from her and respect her for how far she's come in the show. I don't see her winning a final endurance challenge to guarantee herself a final two position. Everyone seems to adore her, so I'm guessing she doesn't make final two because no one wants to go against someone so well liked... Just my two cents and predictions.

Don't you think his arrogance is a direct defense against their pompousness?

I didn't notice Terry telling them he was going to win them all until they started warning him, he HAS to win, or he is gone {insert evil laugh}

I don't think Terry is arrogant at all. the man is a machine, and I see him as confident. Is there such a thing as too confident? Does that make one arrogant? I don't see him shoving the idol in their faces every week. I see a smug smile on his face at TC, with the idol around his neck, because, they tell him he has to win, he WINS. He deserves the smug smile. He earned it.

Who I think is arrogant is Aras. Telling Jeff it only takes a crack, and he will find the crack. He won't even admit there is a STRONG possibility that Terry is
UNBEATABLE, by even big jock Aras. I think Aras might have been unbeatable outside of Survivor, and now he is a small minnow swimming with a shark. It is driving him insane.

As far as Terry's cockiness - ever met a pilot? He fits the stereotype perfectly!

Hey! I've lived with pilots for the last 3.5 years and...and... OK, you're absolutely right. And fighter pilots are 20x worse than heavies. And those Navy guys are WAY cockier than the Air Force!!

Hey, I don't know whether I should take offense to that remark, or agree with it :rotfl2: . My DH is a Navy Pilot (ahem...Naval Aviator :teeth: ) and he certainly isn't very cocky at all. He has been a Pilot for 12 years and while we have certainly come across some VERY arrogant pilots, we have also met some of the most down to earth, sincere gentlemen.

Let's be honest though, with the amount of specialized training these guys recieve, with the multi-million dollar equipment put in their control, with the bombs that are placed under their butts, the responsibility of having other peoples lives in their hands, and the horrible (or sometimes very cool) things they have witnessed, I don't blame them one bit for being a bit arrogant at times. Terry included!

Go Terry!!!

Blech. Now that really burns me up. I hate when they do stuff like this. Amazing Race does this all the time. Enough of the psuedo-celebrities. Use real people.

Totally agree with all of the above. :thumbsup2

I hope Terry makes it to the final two. I just don't know who I want to see him go up against? That darn Cirie and her strategy... getting Courtney voted off. Sheesh!

From the Survivor Exile Island Journal (my thoughts are in red):

THURSDAY ON
SURVIVOR: PANAMA--EXILE ISLAND

A Final Four celebration gets ugly when one Survivor blows up and quickly divides the camp. My guess is that Aras blows up; I can't see Terry, Cirie or Danielle losing their cool.

Sparks fly between two Survivors and accusations and insults leave everyone on edge in one of the most intense Reward Challenges yet. This has to be Terry and Aras.

To put his new Final Two strategy in place, Terry needs to win one more individual Immunity Challenge. Can he win his sixth straight Immunity? You betcha! GO TERRY!

The Survivors know that the next Tribal Council will be the last time the hidden Immunity Idol can be played. How will this affect their strategy? If (WHEN) Terry wins immunity again, he can give the idol to whomever he wants to be sure is in the final three with him and hope that the final two comes down to Terry and whomever he gives the idol to. The final immunity challenge to determine the final two is usually endurance; Terry should have no trouble winning an endurance challenge. And no, I don't think Terry is arrogant. Casaya has been gunning after him ever since the merge, they've told him he's the next to go once he doesn't win immunity. I admire Terry for being able to stay as long as he has with everything stacked against him. None of the Casaya's were willing to enter into an alliance with him, so he HAD to keep winning immunity. I hope he goes all the way to the million! He's survived with everything against him.

Aras is just plain jealous of Terry. Terry is beating him at every thing. Wasn't it Tom, the firefighter whose attitude was 'I want to be the best'. He wasn't afraid to take on competitors, to take them with him to the top. That's the attitude Aras should adopt.

I don't want Aras to win 'cause he's such a whiner.

You know what I realized tonight? There is a representative from each of the original 4 teams- older/younger women, older/younger men. Cirie, Danielle, Terry and Aras. Kind of interesting that way, dontcha think?

Oh wow! Good observation. I think that's really interesting :) I wonder if they will focus on that in the episodes to come.
